Re: Assistant comptroller for Jersey City arrested in Internet sex-chat sting

I wonder if this guy was appointed by Helay or just a regular hire?

It must be a circus working for this city. They haven't presented a budget, they can't balance the budget, and they have people "chatting" on the internet while at work.

If you don't live in this city, it must be very entertaining to watch how dysfunctional our city leaders are.

This is a pretty cool thing. I went to it two years ago and walked out with two giant shopping bags full of gifts for the holidays and didn't spend more then $100. The cool part about it is she designs and produces for Pottery Barn, Dean and Deluca, Crate and Barrel. If I remember correctly, you have to get their early. When I was there, there were over 50 people waiting when the doors opened. Thanks for posting this. I am glad to know this is happeneing again.

I had to get such a letter about 10 years ago. I went to Tony Lambiasi (?) at 30 montgomery. I had to pay a small fee, go over what I was looking to do, and the letter was mailed to me the next day. It was a very simple process. I don't know if Mr. Lambiasi is still there (he was an older gentlemen at that time) but the zoning dept. is where you want to go.

I agree that this should have never been privatized (along with the parking authority). But, what is done is done, I don't understand why they people with just a high school education running things. They run it just like the city runs its finances.
They are raising rates because they don't have as many sewer connection fees (tax abatements)coming through. They have been using connection fees to plug gaps in their budgets. Sound familiar?
All the sewer connection fees paid over the past few years would indicate that there are many more "end users" online now using their services and paying bills. Water/sewer utilities should operate under economies of scale. The cost of providing their services should not increse dollar for dollar with the goods "sold". Once the pipe is run to the building, maybe you need to higher another meter reader or something.

Why didn't United Water issue bonds to pay for the needed infrastructure repairs, using the increased revenue from all the end users (from all the connection fees that have been paid) to pay the interest and principal?

Instead, god knows where that money went, and the property owner is left holding the bag.....along with the property tax increase they have to bear because all the builidngs that paid those sewer connection fees are tax abated too!!!!

Has anyone read the article that annouced these bozo's were coming to Hudson County? It doesn't say anything about them coming here to protest the gay community. THEY ARE COMING HERE THIS TIME TO EXPRESS THEIR HATRED FOR JEWS. Why don't we get off the talk about what the gay community should do and show some support for the Jewish Community. The heading of this subject is very misleading.

I think everyone is focused on the wrong thing here. While this group from Kansas is mostly known for their anti-gay rants, THEY ARE COMING HERE NEXT WEEK FOR ANTI-SEMITIC REASONS.

The Hoboken and Secaucus events are part of the "Just Say No to Goyum/Hebrew Criminal Enterprises Tour," according to the organization's Web site. Another one of their stops is the Hillel at Rutgers.

So those of you that don't want to come out and protest the protest, because you think this is a gay event, come out to hear what great pearls of wisdom these folks have to say about Jews too.

I don;t know how to use the quote function here, but to the question about double pensions.....

That is the whole point to all of this double dipping. THe more jobs you have, the more your pension will be. That is why these people can't hold enough positions. Once they become a "good ole boy", they bounce around from position to position, county to city to parking authority...and since it is their own "fraternity" (funded with our tax dollars) they are hesitant to kick anyone out (or ask them to resign) when they do something that is questionable. The pension is also a strong reason why those who are caught with their hand in the cookie jar, won't do the right thing and resign.

It is all about greed. Greed is the downfall of all civilizations.

Has anyone seen anything mentioned about where the ten's of thousands of dollars are at this point? Is the $30,000 the informant gave Beldini still in Healy's "campaign fund"? I wonder if there is any way to track that.

It makes you wonder how much of the "millions" Healy supposedly has in his "war chest" came from this type of corruption. If he got $30,000 from one guy over the past 6 months, it isn't hard to get the $1,000,000 real fast.

Try Moe's Bait shop. They are the only bait shop I know of in JC. They are just off Palisade Ave. in the Heights. (I think they are on South St., but I know it is just off palisade, just north of Riverview Fisk Park)

I don't know if they have live bait but you can start there.

Now, don't even get me started on Fulop, he has been knocking healy for 4 years pretending he is some kind of poster boy for ethics , while at the same time he is sitting on 200 thousand dollars or more in campaign cash.

I don't know how to use hte quote feature here, but what are you implying with the comment above? That Fulop does not have ethics because he has raised funds for his campaign? Please explain.

THen, you can try to explain where the MILLIONS that your commander and chief....and your BOSS (Healy) came from? Does he lack ethics too?

of course it can. You have your property value and the tax rate. Without a reval, all they will do is increase the tax rate that they apply to your property value. That is how it happened in Hoboken.

Has anyone noticed that the budget that Jersey City was suppose to pass by July of 2008 has not even been submitted....and there is no talk about it either......wait til you see what they do to us this year.....

The four workers face several administrative charges, including conduct unbecoming a public official.

This was from a story about board of ed. employees. It is amazing that those "public officials" in charge are quick to hit a subordinate with these charges, but they won't hit other in charge them. Epps went to London and got caught putting his personal charges through the Board of Ed. as expenses. Yet, here he is accusing others of Conduct unbecoming. If these charges exsist in the school's why don't they exists in the City Goverment. Why shouldn't Healy, Flood, Tibaryi (not sure how to spell his name), Lipski, and all the others be charged with "conduct unbecoming". 3 of the 4 listed above have brought negative attention to Jersey City on local, regional, and national television.

Why can't our city have this administrative charge....."conduct unbecoming a public official". We could thin all the scumbags out of city hall real quick, if they would hold people accountable for their actions there.

These local politicians have been doing this stuff for decades and they keep getting re-elected. The long time people of JC don't seem to mind...they are almost "proud". To get them voted out, we need all the new people in JC (those along the water front and anyone else who moved here over the past 5 years) to come out and vote. The problem is that they don't vote. I bet 95% of the people along the waterfront didn't know where their polling station was before this weeks presidential election. Hopefully this will embarass them enough to come out and vote all these loosers out of office.
I agree that a breath of fresh air like Fulop would be a welcome change to this city.

Maybe he is just being a good HCDO soldier and did this to take the heat and attention off of the HCDO leader, Mayor Healy.

I can't wait to hear what the Mayor has to say about this. Does he call for Lipski to resign?

As embarrassing as it is to have these idiots represent us and be our "leaders", I have to admit it is awefuly entertaining.

Isn't it amazing what "power" (or just the perception that one is "powerful") does to people. It is one thing to throw the office of mayor around in an attempt to not get arrested. But to think that you can unrinate on someone? And we have elected these people to represent us. What does that say about us?

I haven't seen that end of CC but I know they are trimming trees on Barrow too. I thought it was because Verizon has been around putting in VIOS.

I would call the mayor's action bureau at 201-547-5000. You can also call and try to speak with David Donnelly, he is a deputy mayor who has been pretty responsive in the past.

I can confirm this. I am the "super" of several small condo buildings in JC and all of the buildings have received this letter. Upon inspection, none of the buildings have this backflow preventor, they are all in the process of negotiating the cost of installation now.

My understanding is that this requirement came about because of the issue at Society Hill earlier this summer, where there sprinkler system ruptured because of increase in pressure by United Water. As a result of the rupture, much of the old mucky water in the fire line got "sucked" back into the city water system. I don;t know how true that is, it is just what I heard.

Amen.

You need to have a liscence to get a dog, but any tramp can have a kid. If you apply for welfare, you should have to be evaluated and subject to possible sterilization. Instead, people look at welfare as an income source....the more kids you have the more money you get. Then in 18 years, those kids are now running around being non-productive members of society

I saw on the news that a gun buy program in Brooklyn resulted in 427 guns being turned in yesterday alone. Each gun turned in was rewared with a $200 gift card. With all the gun activity in this city, I wonder if city is thinking about doing something like this?

Enforce a curfew? No need to that, the city council just voted to put this area into a redevelopment zone...that should take care of this issue....right?

What the City shold do is put a moratorium on police retirements for a while. They keep talking about all these new recruits comign out of the police acadamy, but they don't tell you that just as many cops are retiring. I have lived in this city for 13 years and either there has been this much violence in the city and I just haven't been tuned into it, or the violence is really starting to ramp up here. I think it is the later. And we don't hear anything from our city leaders.
