On this map, you can see all the reported road fatalities for the past 10 years. Doesn't look like downtown Jersey City is all that bad, actually.

Food truck operators should pay a fee to the city equal to that of property tax on a similar square foot property.

Space is space. They should pay a fair price for it. $200 is far too little.

It is also fair to regulate their locations and operating hours. They are a nuisance if outside your home or business.

The background checks, however, seem out of place, especially when not required with other food operations without alcohol.

There's a simple way not to get stuck in an intersection when the light turns.... Don't enter until the other side is clear!

This bridge will dramatically increase traffic on Jersey Ave. If you're complaining about people not stopping at cross walks now, just wait until all the bayonne people and south jersey people can avoid traffic on the turnpike with a nice cut through the park.

If it does go through, we should demand stop signs on every block between there and the tunnel. It'll be traffic hell either way.

I pass these guys on my way to work. It's a pretty diverse group...from genuine homeless people to respectable looking, white collar types.

Facts are that things need to change. There is a major divide between the rich and the poor and the status quo will destroy our nation if we don't solve some major problems.

The protests seem scatterbrained because there are so many things wrong with this country, but somebody has to do something to get the ball rolling.

If you have better ideas on how to fix things, by all means, try. But you should respect those who are willing to put themselves out there to fight for justice.

Gypsy grill probably posted this account themselves. I've seen JCList open on their laptop in their restaurant. It'd take a lot of restraint not to post something now and then.

Chime in, Gypsy Grill. I know you're reading this.

Apparently they cut off the top two floors of the building on the SE corner of 9th and Coles. I wonder if there was a fire or something?

There are some old photos out there of what the building used to look like, back before they bricked in the porches where people now live. It was actually nice at one point in time. It'll have to be torn down and totally rebuilt at this point, though.

Toxoplasmosis is not rare at all. It is way more common than you think.

Do these symptoms sound familiar to you? Have you been around cat poop?

Enlarged lymph nodes in the head and neck
Headache
Mild illness with fever
Muscle pain
Sore throat

It starts off slow, but can do some serious damage in the long term. You should be tested.

But really, that's the least of my concerns. I simply find it inhumane to put a cat on the streets of Jersey City, both for the birds and the cats.

And I'm no fan of the starlings either. They jealously harass the most beautiful of the birds.

I can tell you what I've seen with my own eyes. As an avid birder, I am always watching the nature around Jersey City and have personally seen 3 killings of birds by cats, one being a rare, Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher!

And I can tell you what I've heard, which is the near nightly, horrific fights between cats in the alley behind my house.

As for mayhem. Thats what I call it when a car driving down my street hits a "feral" cat, jamms on its brakes and slams into my neighbor's car. Jersey City streets are no place for cats!

Would you call it humane if a family abandons their cat on the street? Is it humane if an organization abandons large numbers of cats on the street? Just because they can't reproduce, does that make it any better?

You can read about the science right here and here.

You might not like killing cats, but I don't like seeing the birds I love, who were here first, and are truly struggling, get eaten alive my your all too effective predators.

Bottom line is that they are an unnatural addition to our environment. They should be removed.

That feral cat program is sick. Crazy cat lady sick.

Jersey City streets are too rough and dangerous for cats. They kill each other, they kill native birds, they spread disease and cause mayhem.

Domesticated house cats are a non native species that have no place on the streets of Jersey City. They should only be removed and placed up for adoption or destroyed. If you care about cats, you should adopt them and keep them in your home. Period.

What's next, a feral pit bull program?

People who live at Grove Point have no right to complain about noise. If you want to live in the town square, you've got to be prepared to have people living and making noise all around you. Noise is the price you pay for a 50 foot walk to the PATH.

It makes about as much sense as moving to times square and asking the tourists to keep it down outside.

There are plenty of quiet streets in Jersey City. Don't try to squash the culture in the heart of the city so you can have silence.

Re: Cupcake Shop on Grove

Every time I passed them at the mall, they always had a surprising number of people patronizing them. Personally, I've been sick of cupcakes for years...as a result of way too many office parties, I just associate them with office food.

However, to the point of the location, the businesses on Grove Street north of Newark Ave should work together to bring in more people from the Palus Hook, VVP and western half of Hamilton Park neighborhoods who would not typically walk down that way.

I'd suggest blocking off the street up to 1st and creating a pedestrian plaza one day a week, to coincide with the farmers market or groove on grove, or they could do a regular Saturday or Sunday outdoor market kind of thing. There are a ton of businesses on those two blocks who seem to be just squeaking by. With more promotion, events and imagination they could bring in a lot more business.

Good luck!

Froto; Cleaning up Jersey City one perp at a time. I actually wouldn't complain if they gave him a 500k payout at retirement for his sick days. I'm sure he's fixed, but maybe he could use the money to fly to Korea and have himself cloned, and then we could have a next generation of super crime fighting dogs.
