Yes- Chuck Russo- www.chuckrusso.com. We used him in September, he played at my sister-in-law's wedding, my best friend's wedding and is now booked for my cousins. He was recommended by the venue we were at (Bretton Woods) and he was great- no cheesy, affordable, did what we wanted, and we barely noticed he was there.

We went tonight, since we've been anxiously awaiting the opening too. It. Was. Delicious.

Sure, they've just opened and are getting their stuff together in the new space, but I had the ribeye burrito and my husband had the chicken florentine crepe and they were both YUM.

Looking forward to brunching there soon.

Congrats Grovester! I just got married 2 weekends ago, and as much as I would have loved to stay in JC, I just couldn't deal with all the planning that goes into non-traditional venues- caterers, linens, dishes, decorations, menus- and the pricing in JC. We ended up at Bretton Woods in Morris Plains for a day wedding, and it was great! Outside space, a deck with a bar, great food, great staff on-site that day, and fairly affordable for a day wedding. Then we planned an after party at a local hotel to keep the party going.

On another note, our DJ was amazing and I would recommend him again and again- he did my sister-in-law's wedding, our wedding and he'll be DJing my friend's wedding this weekend- Chuck Russo- www.chuckrusso.com. He's not cheesy, plays what you want, is very relaxed and not a greased up, in your face DJ.

Best of luck!

Received a call from U.S. Gas & Electric

My neighbor knocked on my door, concerned about needing to call back U.S. Gas & Electric who called and left a message for him. They made it sound like it had to do with PSE&G, but my neighbor's English isn't so great and he wasn't sure.

I told him I'd return the call with him tomorrow, but...has anyone else received these phone calls? I'm assuming...scam? Company that has nothing to do with PSE&G?

I need to buy two small trophies for a fundraising event and have them engraved- anyone know of a place in the downtown JC area that can do that quickly and does nice work?

Thanks!

Where to buy a Jersey City map poster?

We have one map poster up of NYC, but we're Jersey City-ites to the core and I'm trying to find a map poster (read: not a boring map that you actually use to drive with) of Jersey City that we can buy and frame for the living room.

Any idea where we can buy one? Thanks!

Just got called by Chase about fraudulent charges. I used the ATM to make a deposit at the bank at 50 Columbus the day before yesterday. I hardly ever use that branch, so it seems more than coincidental that my account was compromised the day after banking there.

My concern is that the ground level there floods all the time and sits as stagnant water. How sanitary can it possibly be, that's why no restaurants have lasted down there?

Also, as a nearby resident, I now listen to them blast club music into the night in their backyard area- I don't object to the music, I just would love it turned down a notch since no one is actually sitting out there.

Just got engaged and am looking for a wedding reception that's somewhat budget-friendly for 150-200 people. Any suggestions on other locations in Northern NJ (perhaps outside of JC, although I would LOVE to be at Liberty House)? Thanks!

I'm ready to get rid of some great books, photo frames, clothes, women's shoes and more, but can't seem to find on the JC website if I need a permit. Anyone know the answer?
Thanks!

I used to work at a shelter for a few years, so I would just STRONGLY recommend that you call the shelter program first before showing up with food or donation items. People used to show up at our door with more food than we could refrigerate/store/give out. So, be mindful and doublecheck with St. Lucy's first, in order to be most helpful.
But great thinking! I love that my fellow JC-ites are so great!
