Look on http://www.vrbo.com/ ..... I saw a couple of places in Jersey City. Not sure if it's the price that you are looking for though.

Is this the Lucinda Taco/Burrito Truck? I saw someone driving it this morning. They parked outside La Conga and went inside....maybe to get supplies?

Do you think someone new bought Lucinda's?

There's also the Anti-Graffiti Task Force you could contact, but I believe each business owner needs to sign something to okay the clean-up.

I signed the petition also, but I thought it was odd that it was so focused on Newport.

I think the most important thing is that there are trains running more frequently on nights and weekends to all the stations, not just Newport.

I use the Grove Street PATH all the time, but maybe I would use the Newport station if they did have a separate entrance where I didn't need to go through the mall.

I also see the HP ladies, but in the afternoons and evenings. The blonde looks much cleaner than the other. I usually see them asleep in the grass or sitting on one of the benches bordering the park, smoking. Sometimes I see the brunette on the payphones at the corners of the park. I assumed that they were homeless and had drug issues.

Not necessarily the name that is odd, but why does Grove St. start out as 'Grove St.' up near 16th St., then change to 'Manila Ave.' around 12th St., then back to 'Grove St.' down near First St. I guess this Mr. Manila guy was not important enough to have the entire street named after him

I've been stopped a ton of times on Manila and asked by people where Grove Street is and I explain to them that they are on it, but it's not called Grove until there and point. Manila Ave. must be a neighborhood description of sorts.

These aren't the weirdest street names, but this always bothered me....Van Reipen Avenue and Van Reypen Street.

They are pronounced the same way and are in close proximity of each other (Journal Square neighborhood). This would cause severe annoyance with getting mail and with food delivery. I'm sure there is a ton of mix-up.

I've been to Dr. Katz in JSQ. He was pretty good. I was only there once. There's a female dermatologist that he's partners with, Dr. Noroff.

Katz & Noroff
2954 John F Kennedy Blvd Fl 2
Jersey City, NJ 07306

They have several other offices in New Jersey too (Short Hills and Irvington).

It's two blocks up JFK from the Path station.

I usually pay around 60 or less. That's just for a cut. That is cheaper than where I was going downtown.

I started going here maybe about a year ago after some dissppointment with a couple downtown salons. I really like them. Barbara cuts my hair, she's very good.

They just recently (in the past couple months) opened up a day spa at that location, so maybe that's why the mini facial was complimentary.

Thanks for the post JCNut21, it's reminded me to call for an appointment. I'm in need of a cut.

I am glad that you are a responsible owner, but throwing the tennis ball is how I exercise my dog. She does not play with other dogs and always just minds her own business. I have never had a problem before this. All she wants to do is fetch the ball. The dog attacked her unprovoked. I assumed that since this dog was unleashed in the "dog run" that it would not be vicious. Now, I do not blame any dog for their actions. Dogs are dogs, but I do blame crappy owners. The solution is not to deprive dogs of their toys, but to not have aggressive dogs in the "dog run" with the others.

I understand, I was just pointing out sometimes when you introduce toys and other play things in an open dog area other dogs aren't as disciplined as yours and might see the ball and think they can join in the game of fetch or worse, think that ball is theirs and start to get aggressive.

I am not saying that the pitbull owner was not responsible for this incident or that his dog should be allowed in the temporary dog run, but you should not bring any type of toys or balls into a dog run at all. It could lead to aggressive dog behavior from any dog, not just from a pitbull. Toys and balls could aggrevate any situation between dogs.

I not saying that Rosie caused it or that she deserved it. I hope that she is okay and I am sure that she will be.

I have a pitbull mix and she is a great dog. she's kind and gentle with people, but she doesn't get along with every dog (which is normal for any dog) and I don't take her in the temporary dog run because of this.

Is the general consensus here still that the animal hospital on West Side is better than the place downtown on 1st st?

I take my dogs to Jersey City Animal Hosptial on Westside. I like them and they are a little cheaper than the Vet downtown.

Also, I was just going to take a cab from downtown to the animal hospital (no car). I'm unfamiliar with the West Side Ave area - will I be able to find a cab home on the street or will I need to call one in advance?

You will need to call a cab or they can call one for you at the vet. They've called a cab for me before.

Here's another link I found through the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/dshw/lrm/uwaste/ucomplist.htm

I don't know if these places deal with personal computers or the recycling of large companies' equipment.

I think Staples has a computer recycling program. They might charge a fee though to take your computer and monitor. There are some other places around, but I don't think they are in Hudson County.

Re: Throw the Books at Them - Peeved by Library's Dumping

All libraries have to do weeding of their collection periodically. Perhaps these books were already in their 'used book sale' for quite a while and weren't selling.

I highly doubt that the books that were out on the sidewalk were the only copies of those titles in the entire Jersey City library system.

And yes, fiction does not become outdated, but books do become damaged and they do become not as popular as they once were.

Weeding is always a tough and unpopular job in a library, but someone has to do it and believe it or not there is a process to it.

Plus, who's stopping someone from taking those books on the sidewalk and enjoying them. I don't find anything wrong with the public inquiring why the books were out there and wanting to know how the processes work, but I don't think the library should be accused of being wasteful.

The books were sitting out for recycling and not the trash, although seeing how picky the recycle people are in Jersey City......

Some of the signs are wrong too. There's one of those new signs on Summit Ave. when walking towards the Five Corners Library that is not placed correctly, so the arrows to the locations are not pointing in the right direction.

my boyfriend heard the guys who were installing the sign asking each other if the sign was right because one of them didn't think it was. They just ended up shrugging their shoulders and saying something along the lines of 'we'll just put the sign up like we were told and not worry about if it's wrong.'

2000/month for a 1 bedroom!!! I find that a little insane. I live in the JSQ area and that price is too high. does that mean every other apartemnt in the area is going up to that amount too?

Yes, they're lit at night. They come on when it starts getting dark and last summer they automatically switched off around 10pm.

If you would like to double check what's going on this playing season I would contact the Lincoln Park Tennis Association.
