A protest this powerful might just might turn the tide and allow Obama to overcome near impossible odds to win New York and New Jersey.

Who's blaming the foreigners? It's just simply the law that if you're on an H-1b visa and lose your job, you get sent home if you can't find a new job very quickly.

I seriously doubt Indians are getting hit any harder than anyone else. It's a bloodbath in the financial industry. They get hit especially hard, though, since if they're on an work visa and don't immediately get a new job -- which they won't in this environment -- they get deported.

PATH reliability is way, way better than the NY subway system, and the NY subways are reasonably good. Be thankful that we have such a well run system.

I don't see much chance of any of this getting built any time soon. There's no way Toll's going to be able to get financing to do it with the credit crunch getting worse by the day.

Those floor to ceiling windows at 50 Columbus sound like a nice feature, but if people renting there had given the matter more thought, of course it's going to be a heating and cooling nightmare.

He was also sentenced to pay back the $6.7 million plus $10,000, and he's not getting out of that since the government froze all the accounts of everyone involved. So he didn't make any money in the end.

I've never had any problem finding parking on one of the side streets across Marin from the mall. It's usually not much farther a walk cutting through the mall parking lot as parking at Shop Rite.

For good or for ill, I post under just one user name here, and a few people have met me offline.

Also: I think that you and your sock puppet are being a little thin-skinned, but I don't think you violated any serious netiquette rules, and I would be opposed to deleting your posts.

mike_s55 popped up in one thread to attack you specifically for criticizing nlnator, which is a pretty clear violation of netiquette from where I stand, but you were the most directly impacted party.

I lived there for a year. The doormen don't do much. They sign for your packages and get them for you out of the mail room when you come to get them, but that's about it. Never noticed any improper behavior by them with tenants or otherwise. I had some serious structural maintenance issues with my unit that I was unable to get them to properly address, resulting in my moving out even though I generally liked the building. For routine maintenance, service was fine. No bugs or rodents. I never noticed any pet smells, but the doors are not tight against the frames, so you do tend to get general smells coming in from the hallway, which for me meant regularly suffering from foul smelling Indian food.

McCann cheated (big surprise) to get elected to the Board of Education. He stuffed the ballot with absentee votes from alzheimer patients at a nursing home. A court case over that election is in process. From the coverage I read of it, the judge was all but openly mocking McCann's lawyer during the initial hearing and leaving little doubt which way the case was going to go.

Oh, I'm sure as hell not voting for Cunningham! If the only two serious candidates are as bad as those two, I'll happily abstain. Maybe that guy who always runs for stuff on the "Politicians Are Crooks" line will throw his hat in the ring. I've voted for him several times instead of the low lifes the Hudson County machines have offered up. Fulop degrades himself by deciding to line up with one of the competing bunches of crooks fighting to control the Democratic machine around here. We need someone independent from that mess.

Ridership targets must have been pretty low if they've been reached. Going back and forth from work during early and late rush hour times (7am and 7:30pm or so), I cross light rail tracks and see a train a few times a week, and they're always almost empty.

This is absurb. If anything, proximity to the light rail is hurting sales at some of the downtown and Hoboken developments because of the noise problems.
