As mentioned, being an elevated structure would add a lot of logistics to a park. Safety, vandalism, squatting etc... But not insurmountable issues. However, I think any opportunity to get more green space here, and in any urban community, should be taken advantage of.

about 2 weeks ago JC was mentioned on 30 Rock.

(discussing new boyfriend)
Jack: Where does he live?
Liz: I'm not telling you.
Jack Oh how bad can it be Lemon, Jersey CIty?

That is the national reputation we have. These girls will not help it, but not necessarily tarnish it further, esp. as mentioned, with their audience. They will spend most of the time in Manhattan or Hoboken probably. They're coming. It's not that big a deal so accepted it, close your eyes and it'll soon be over.

With dishes such as the Irish Nachos, the Scottish Cheesesteak Salad, Maggie Mae?s Fish & Chips and Gaelic Chicken in an Irish whiskey cream sauce, the Tilted Kilt will appeal to a variety of tastebuds. A bevy of burgers, sandwiches and salads are also on the menu. More than 30 beers are on tap, all of which will be served by a beautiful wait staff dressed in white blouses, plaid kilts and knee-high socks complementing the Celtic theme. For the sports enthusiast, no fewer than 49 HD TVs will air just about every popular sporting event available, including professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey, as well as college athletics.

There is a camera on Brunswick and 7th FYI. Which is good cause people fly down there on the way to the tunnel in the morning.

agreed. Until they start ticketing, even on a semi regular basis, drivers will take advantage, esp on streets like Erie on the way to the tunnel.

With the new law a car must stop for any pedestrian at any intersection (not just where there's crosswalks). If only drivers got into the habit of being more aware at intersections. but accidents happen hope the person is ok.

Re: Jersey City creates list of city's worst abandoned properties

About 5 years ago my brother me a developer at a business function, both live out of state. Somehow JC came up and he said he tired to build something here had never worked in a more corrupt atmosphere. Every city worker to the cops were lining up for handouts. Drop 3 grand to a bar here, 2 grand there, etc etc. He said he finally couldn't deal with it and put up barb wire in the middle of the night and abandoned the site. That's all i know (don't know name or location). and yes even on my part it is hearsay (thru my Bro, whom I trust), but given the recent scandals maybe Healy should ask WHY there are so many abandoned properties rather than point them out. I think i finally understand the saying Don't piss on my shoes and tell me it's raining.

All Municipal Offices will be closed on Veterans Day. Regular trash pick-ups will continue, but street sweepings will be suspended. The Jersey City Police Department and the Fire Department will remain open and on duty.

On JC's homepage. Although their "Today at a Glance" page says normal schedule. They hardly update that page and should either discontinue it or update it more. I'm also glad there's still Freman and policeman today.

I heard, thru the grapevine, they were gonna do a soft opening this week.

I peeked in on Sat and they extended the bar to go down the hallway and wrap around to the back room where the pool table was. If anyone sees it open or goes in, report back please.

Actually, when my neighbor's girlfriend was mugged about a year ago - they just came up and hit her. Someone else told me a few years back someone tried to mug him and started by just sucker punching him. Either a way to catch you off guard or to stun you. Be careful out there.

The only two things i can think of, both longshots. Call the Parks department. They have been clearing low branches and had day signs up around town (like when someone's moving in). Maybe you missed it. Or call one of our friendly neighborhood towing companies. like Danny's or EZ. See what they have to say.

I assume you were parked legally. Sometimes if you're even an inch fro a driveway those people may call and have you towed cause they can't turn in. Those are private companies, I think.

good luck.

This comment still leaves a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended).
Way to insult an entire community that puts food in your mouth, and with every post your doing yourself more a disservice.

For the record I think think the food is above average (not oh my God great) and cheap, and I have never had an attitude problem there; guess I unknowingly followed the rules. But why patronize a place that has no respect for it's customers and only using the location for a stepping stone.

call the housing authority.
call the mayor's hotline and see what advice they give you.
call a lawyer.
Just because he sent a certified letter doesn't mean it's legal.
Scan it so you don't lose it.
call Fox's Shame on You guy. Local papers. They would probably have fun with this one. Sometimes media is what get things done.
If you were told this after moving in you could probably break your lease.
What a pain in the butt for you. (pun intended)

and please keep up updated on progress.

A lot of people will go to a bar to specifically to watch sports.

Back to the subject at hand the owners are nice people. I look forward to stopping by and wish them all the best. It's good to have another option here (be it bar or food).

If just one person is underwater/not paying in (which is a lot more common than I realized!) the building is already over that 15% number and thus no loan if you are looking to buy in, which also handcuffs any of the other owners if they want to sell.

Anyone else running into this problem as of late?

Not that the others are selling soon, but just curious.

Well, I could be snarky and say things like why should vandals be awarded, even if they're "just going to do it anyway" or I don't notice a large amount of graffiti in Hamilton Park which I frequent daily. But rather I'll say I agree there should be a place they can do it legally. Why not make have of the link fence behind Enos Jones park wood for people to use? (the authorities might need some link fence to see thru to the underpass). I just wouldn't want to see the embankment turned into that and and that's a fair opinion. But as someone said before this has a 1 percent chance of ever happening and I think that's high. To debate a five year old study before the economy collapse on land it doesn't own and have to right to is a waste of time.

As someone who is in the dogpark twice most days, I have never heard once of someone being stopped.

I also don't have JC tags for my dog (rabies shots yes) and have never been stopped.

Sounds like an excuse for them to hang out in the park. If they're supposed to be stopping people they aren't even doing that.

The city doesn't own the 6th street embankment.
If they ever do get it, they will most likely turn it into a light rail extension.
