The worst has happened at high tide 11pm. The sewer was overwhelmed and the water started coming from underneath through rain collectors. The deepest was at Center & Brooks Street. I had to cross this intersection and it was less than comfortable 12-14" for my Altima. It seemed a lot worse at the exit ramp from NJTP. Cars exit the turnpike at high speed. There was gray Corolla which aquaplaned into a divider (the driver didn't get hurt). Thanks for sharing the pictures.

It was a bit scary between 10am and Noon. We had a little lake at Center & Bright St. 14" inches of water in the basement :(

Royal Heating guy visited me on Monday. Offered to replace my low water cutoff for $425. I paid them $109 for diagnostics and replaced it myself. Do we know anybody else?

Greco is being paid by JCBOE? Is it possible to go lower than that? They should hire his hair stylist too. It's important in our school system revival.

Yes, in theory. Reality is that PS 16 runs at its capacity. Today there are classes of 32-35 pupils per teacher. They might have to create overflow classes in other schools to keep up with demand.

Reminds me my childhood in Soviet Russia. Friendly neighbors who have local KGB office number written on the wall, just above the telephone. Good luck with the building department, hope you don't have any violations yourself.

Same here, but get this. They put a lien on my property citing that I didn't pay my bill for over 2 years. Interestingly it was somebody else's bill (and meter #) and I was current with my payments. I had to pay that bill and interest in order to remove the lien. It took them over one year to admit the mistake and refund the money. They never refunded the interest back.

Nothing that a good back flow prevention valve couldn't do. Message me, I have very good guys who finished my basement a week ago.

I had two Zoeller M57 pumps installed, two 4" back flow valve's, two 1 1/2" back flow valves specifically for sump pumps, new u-trap, proper basins, flow router(i can direct my flow to sewer main or outside). etc... I am ready for this eventuality now. Bring it on.

I found 255 properties. The tax database runs on Oracle. You have to search for %Dixon% as owner. It will match all owners that contain Dixon in the name. Dixom has number of RE management funds to which these properties assigned.

There is a relatively new Australian investment fund which has been buying residential property in Hudson County, mostly in Jersey City.
The fund is only open to Australians. It is call "US Masters Residential Property Fund"
http://www.usmastersresidential.com.au/

Using the Tax1 website, I found they currently owned about 175 properties in JC.
http://tax1.co.monmouth.nj.us/cgi-bin ... &out_type=0&district=0906

I don't know if this is good or bad for our city?
Do any JCListers who live in any of their properties have any comments?

Positively. Another 8 feet and I will live at waterfront. Jersey City would be a lot nicer place too, kinda like Venice.

Thank you very much for telling us. I heard that poor woman screaming for her life at 11:45pm. I looked in the window and saw a woman right in front of Two Aprons. Many residents immediately responded to help. Somebody asked if the girl is all-right. She said "NO". Police has arrived 6-8 minutes later. I am very glad the perps were apprehended. Good job.

Am I the only who does not like the place? The take out was exceptionally oily, portions small. I ended up paying $28 for two orders of Matar Paneer (lunch special). One piece of Bread for two orders. The owners of this place are the same folks who own Portside Deli (hahaha 3 times). If nobody notice, but these folks don't cook their food, just reheat it (Amiya does the same).

I say Amiya is a bit cheaper for lunch and bit more classy. My personal pick is Bombay in Tribeca.

I finished complete "gut renovation" project about a month ago. Nobody ever lived in this apartment before.

I am inclined o think that rental market has slowed down a bit.

Thanks for the tips.
In my observations most of the traffic come from Craig's List and the big red "For Rent" sign.

I learned that I have to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance. Some arrive earlier. About 25% never show up for the appointment, it was really upsetting at first.

Do you think agent is good idea? What is ISBN for your book ?

NewHeights, can you please share your wisdom with me? How do you find your tenant?

I can't find anyone for 1 bedroom(has second small bedroom and walk-in closet) in Downtown for a month. I am asking $1300 for the unit that real nice finish, W/D in the unit. No takers.

I see 2 unleashed pit bulls in Paulus Hook almost daily. As soon as the owner gets to boardwalk (right next to Yellow Taxi pier), She unleashes her dogs. Once, one of them jumped into my son's stroller. The owner assured me these dogs are friendly. if I have to go near Pier House, I pace faster. Cops are hesitant to do anything about it. I seriously consider getting Glock before Obama gets into the office.
