We need to follow Florida's lead, become a shall carry state and pass a law that prohibits localities from regulating firearms. I need to carry my .357 to work, my kids school, to church, to Target and to the bar when I get my drink on. And I need to stay proficient by shooting targets in my backyard.

The great thing about these is they can be used to inflate almost anything - bicycle tires, air mattresses, exercise balls...

Our Soul came with a pump and sealant instead of a spare! I guess it was a move to save both money and weight. Some owner buy a spare anyway.

It's about the money, the weight of a spare isn't more than 1% of the curb weigh, not really significant.

I wouldn't have a car without a full size spare. If you have anything more than a small hole, like you might get from a nail, sealant isn't going to be very useful. And driving on a donut spare for any duration isn't much fun.

And maybe I am just unlikely but when I have a tire issue it seems to happen at inconvenient times and places.

Now, if you can't or won't change a tire then I guess it doesn't really matter if you have a spare in your trunk.

Tire pressure should be checked when the tires are cold. That's hard to do if you're driving to get free air unless you're going to Costco for their free Nitrogen.

Most people forget to check their spare tires until they need them. If you don't have your own pump don't forget.

$14K for stitches is outrageous. But, I think there might be more to the story.

My guess is that the kid had to be sedated because of the location of the cut and his age. Most 3 year olds I know would not sit still for 1 stitch to the chin let alone 4. Pinning down a freaked out kid isn't a good option.

If there was an anesthesiologist involved the cost would be much higher. Also they would be in the ER much longer than if it was just 4 stitches.

About 5 years a friend got stitches in the ER, the total was ~$1400. I think that's stitoo higll h.

Moral of the story is if you need a cut stitched up and the bleeding has stopped call your doctor or find an urgent care center in your network. Save the ER for life threatening situations.

I like the spirit but seems like you haven't thought this one through. This isn't a "who do I have to call to get this done." It's a "dedicate a good portion of my life TRYING to get this done."

Have you thought about who is going to be against this and how are you going to win over those people. That would be the most critical part of the project. Building a bridge is simple, we've done it for centuries. The political realities of doing something like this is the hard part.

That is it.

Republicans have passed the budget that would fund lots of programs. Now, you can claim that Obama can't sign that budget because if he did, he would lose the fight over obamacare, - and that claim would be true.

However, if Respublicans are trying to remove the funding for other programs from the negotiating table, and Obama keeps it there, - it is Obama who's taking those programs hostage, plain and simple.

Hey Boris,

Since you've taken the position that it's the President who is taking hostages I just wanted to ask you something.

Why won't Speaker Boehner allow a vote on a clean continuing resolution? If we're pointing fingers I'm pointing at him now.

This is an indefensible tactic by House Republicans to try to get their way plain and simple. The Affordable Care Act is the law of the land. It passed muster with the Supreme Court who found the law constitutional. If Republicans don't like it they should repeal the law. But they can't get the votes so they stamp their feet and say they don't like the law and that the only way we'll get the government back is by making it go away. That looks like a very unlikely outcome.

Wait until the Dems use this tactic when they're in the minority in the House and can't get their way. The Republicans will be screaming bloody murder.

I hate people like that. I tell them what rent is around here and they're like "Thats more than my mortgage!" as they get in their car to drive in 3 hours of traffic one way home to central jersey. Where their property taxes are 15K a year.

I wanna stab those fucking idiots in the face.

Why hate them?

I feel sorry for them. This guy doesn't have kids said he wanted a big house/yard and cheap housing. But, there's only so many hours in a day, why waste it if you don't have to.

Heights, my take on things is that terrorism has been steadily declining in the US since 9/11. To say we need to be more suspect and vigilant now is an overreaction based on anecdotal evidence. We should probably worry more about gun deaths or lightning strikes (in 2011, 26 people in the US were killed by lightning.)

If you don't believe me here's an article - http://www.thenation.com/blog/173876/ ... ston-terror-all-time-low#

However, I do agree with you in wishing everyone would act like it was the day after 9/11, I felt like I was in a caring community instead of a suspicious one.

They say it's not the right time to talk about gun control. I say this is the exact right time. At least 75,000 people agree with me - https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petit ... slation-congress/2tgcXzQC

They told us it wasn't the right time after Columbine, Virginia Tech, Tuscon and all the other killings. 12 people were shot in an Aurora, Co movie theater less than 5 months ago. 5 MONTHS. Now 26 more innocents are dead. Children and their teachers. I never imagined it was possbile someone in America would execute 26 innocent children and their teachers in their classroom. As we mourn we should be asking what's next and what are we going to do to stop it.

This will happen again and again and again and again unless you do something. I don't know how many days or weeks it will be until the next mass shooting but we'll be thinking the same things we are today and saying how awful it is. DO SOMETHING.

If you don't know where to start, go to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence http://www.bradycampaign.org/

Jersey City Mayor Jeremiah T. Healy speaks at a 2011 press conference with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, right, in the wake of last year's Tuscon shootings.
City of New York
Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy has been very public about a need for better control of the sale of guns in the nation but today the mayor, who has been following the shooting at the Connecticut elementary school, will not talk about the issue.

The mayor has been involved in national campaigns to tighten gun sales with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer and other officials for several years.
"I'm not going to say a word about gun control," Healy said. "Everyone's prayers and condolescenses are for those effected by this horrible incident. I think my position on gun control is well known, but I believe now is not the time to discuss it."
Resized Image

As some of the focus of the shooting has touched on neighboring Hoboken as authorities were trying to identify the shooter Adam Lanza, Healy said he is confident that the Jersey City Police Department are professional enough to handle any similar situation. A brother of the identified shooter, who is a Mile Square City resident, had been mistakenly identified by the national media as being responsible for the tragic events.JJ
