Did you file a police report?
Call the DMV with the plate?

I grew up in the burbs of Cleveland and was recently there visiting. Their roads are actually worse than here.

I get at least 1 flat tire here a year, but that is mainly due to nails!

Apparently, the car I want is not available in this region and the closet dealership I can find that has one is in PA.

I was looking at the NJ DMV site and they said it could take 4 - 6 weeks for title transfer. This won't affect getting registered and plates will it?

My concern will be getting a parking permit for the car. Most of the time I do not have to worry about parking when I work dayshift, but occasionally I work evenings so I do not know what to do with the car other than parking it at the mall during the day.

I cannot find any information on the JC Parking Authority site about temporary permits with a new car. Although would they even grant one to me with out of state temp plates?

Would love to hear from anyone who has dealt with this.

My best friend was towed from that lot last summer when he came for a visit. It was around this time last year.

Lot? It's a street. Perhaps they were towed for not having a permit?

I really hope they find this guy. I can't believe all the cars that continued to go through the intersection

The cops should look around every construction site in JC for this truck. And that is a good idea about checking Home Depot cameras.

Wrong? Isn't that the law?

NO

seriously, are you joking?

Jaywalking is an informal term used to refer to illegal or reckless pedestrian crossing of a roadway. Examples include a pedestrian crossing between intersections (outside a crosswalk, marked or unmarked) without yielding to drivers and starting to cross a crosswalk at a signalized intersection without waiting for a permissive indication to be displayed. In the United States, state statutes generally reflect the Uniform Vehicle Code in requiring drivers to yield the right of way to a pedestrians at crosswalks; at other locations, crossing pedestrians are either required to yield to drivers or, under some conditions, are prohibited from crossing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaywalking

When two cars approach a 2 way or 4 way stop sign, who has the right of way? I don't think more than 10 drivers in Jersey City know the answer to that.

Oh and I definitely agree about having to yield no matter what in Jersey City. While crossing the street, and nearly getting hit by morons who blow through the stop sign, I always yell that there is a stop sign and they respond with some not so kind words about my mother and what I could do with her.

I've been wanting to put a camera on 8th & Erie. That corner is awful. No one knows the basic laws of who goes first at a stop sign. Everyone on Erie thinks they do not have to stop.

They really should have some cops out and ticketing the morons who blow through the stop signs.

To the poster commenting about people stopping in the crosswalk, sometimes you have to when there are no pedestrians around because people park on the corners and you can't see if it is safe to proceed unless you pull up.

Pedestrians in this area can be as bad as the drivers. Especially in Hoboken. Darting into the roads into on-coming traffic. It's scary as a driver. Just keep in mind, cross in a crosswalk and the driver yields to you, if you jaywalk, you yield to the traffic.

I should have gotten up "early" and walked with Murican when the crossing guards were out. I thought I was going to get hit twice by vehicles.

Everyone is really friendly at the polling station, much friendlier than my old polling place, but getting there can be a pain.

As icechute says Guy4downtown, we are all waiting for what Guy will do. All we get are negatives against Fulop, who we all respect.

So again, why should we vote for Guy?

And guess what, we LOVE that he is the dissenting voice in the council. Why do you not get that. It's because he speaks for US. The last thing we need is a "united downtown" that will do the mayors bidding.

Most of us here are very aware of what Fulop's facts are. He keeps in touch with the community by sending out emails, attending community meetings, etc. I have never heard of Guy until a couple of weeks ago.

Fulop has accomplished so much for this community and is in the process of accomplishing more.

The myspace page makes a big deal about abatements. I don't like abatements, I don't have to agree with him on everything. However all of that stuff is from 2005. And it sure doesn't seem like Guy is against abatements according to that page. So why would I switch my vote based on that?

LoraJ,

Councilman fulop Voted on abatements throughout his tenure not just 2005

2005- Voted Yes on 9 tax abatements
2006- Voted Yes on 12 tax abatements
2007- Voted Yes on 8 tax abatements
and even in 2008 he Voted Yes on a Market Rate Condo. project in Paulus Hook.

That's 30 Tax Abatements he voted YES on. This does not include the ones he abstained on.

And Guy is different in this area how? He states on his page that he is for abatements in some cases.

You can find your polling place here:
https://voter.njsvrs.com/PublicAccess/ ... Place/PollPlaceSearch.jsp

And it will be printed on your sample ballot.

So I talked to someone at the county level. He said they are well aware of the situation and have been trying to move it back, but someone on the state level won't do it. They are waiting for the 2010 census to come out. Aat that point they will probably re-district us back to this side of the tunnel because of the new buildings on the North side of the tunnel.

He recommended getting an absentee ballot.

Is 700 Grove Street in Jersey City or Hoboken?

I have been writing and complaining about being re-districted since last year and nothing has come of it.

This is also a reminder for those in this area who haven't voted since the 2004 election of the move.

There was an accident on Erie & Ninth this morning. Didn't see the accident. I'm assuming either someone turned left on red from 9th onto Erie or the car on Erie used the red light as a stop sign.

Either way, even traffic lights can't stop drivers from being morons.

We recently had our building inspected and the inspector told me that I needed proof that the building doesn't have lead paint.

To avoid the lead fee, I am trying to figure out who to get the CO from. I called a housing number from the jersey city website and they transfered me to someone's voicemail. I left a detailed message but never got a call back.

So I'm not sure I am calling the right place, anyone know who to contact or where I go in person?

Anyone know just how long this will take?

I am really worried now that I am working evening shift that I won't be able to find parking when I get home at late hours. Many cars from 10th are parking on my street now making it difficult to find parking at normal hours. I fear about how far away I am going to have to park.

Is the Erie garage still taking monthly rentals?

I paid for the cremation of my bird. They gave me a nice wooden box with an engraved name plate. Who knows if it's actually my bird in there, but it's nice, and kind of comforting to have. We don't have a yard, so I wouldn't have been able to bury him. And when we move he can come with us.
