Did anyone get to HP Farmer's Market? Curious if the lady who sells the kale salads/other healthy foods was impacted by this prepared food ban?

I can confirm that she was there and in her usual spot. What prepared food ban? Wings were being made, empanada's were being sold along with 3 food trucks.

Heads up! a few minutes ago my son witnessed a man breaking the window of a parked car then reached in to take something. This is pretty brazen as there is a crossing guard on the corner and people picking up their kids to/from Cordero.

He's a dark skinned man with very short/bald cut, thin, about 5'8 wearing jeans a an olive shirt that has the word "Respect" on the back.

Don't leave any valuables within view in your car. We just reported it to the police along with another witness that works for Cordero.

Wow, what kind of car was it? My car is parked right around there!

I am excited for this wild foraging booth - some interesting stuff that I definitely wouldn't have tried otherwise (japanese knotweed - sort of like a lemony asparagus taste)

Any more details about the foraging booth? Do you know the name? I hope they are at Hamilton Park tonight with some goodies!

My business (Jersey City Wingery) will debut our Buffalo wings at the Hamilton Park Farmers Market this upcoming Wednesday, 5/4/15. Expect a super high quality, extra crispy wing covered in an awesome homemade sauce. Served with house-made blue cheese.

The whole idea was borne from my personal search for a great Buffalo wing in Jersey City.

What kind of pricing structure are we looking at for the wings tomorrow?

Crazy though here, it's a legitimate request for which you should comply. It's about the safety of you and your tenants. I'm guessing it has to do with recent apt fires in the headlines in NY and NJ so the city is making sure buildings are up to code.

As a tenant I would want my landlord to confirm to all codes for my safety and the safety of other. Aren't the lives of your tenants worth a few hundred dollars?

That was most definitely not you, not going to bolt a 82mm turbo onto a little civic.

This car sounded more highend on Sunday night.

I woke up this morning around 5am this morning and for about 30 minutes I heard a car doing burnout sand racing around. I couldn't tell exactly where it was coming from but it sounded close.

Where do you find decent steak for less than $12/lb in the tri-state area? You must be buying the strictly pink slime.

Are they open the General Public? I contributed to the Kickstarter but the options I bought are all for multiple people and I'm solo tonight. Can I go in and just pick something up for myself?

I'm currently in Michigan and I'm moving to Hamilton Park next month. I don't have a parking permit yet and I am not yet familiar with the rules in terms of parking just to unload my stuff to the apartment and I was hoping anyone could help me get familiar with things that I need to do to reserve parking area/spot (e.g. no parking signs) for 1 car and one moving truck.

I did send an email to JC Parking Authority but no response yet.

I appreciate all the help I can get :)

Where in the Hamilton Park area are you moving to?

I agree with others, most people ignore the no parking signs.

When I moved in the area 2 years ago I posted them days in advance and no one cared. I called the parking authority to ask them to do something. I ended up parking in front of a fire hydrant to unload and by the time the parking authority showed up (an hour after I called), we were already done unloading the truck.

I believe JCPD has taken over parking enforcement though so business may pick up. I've already noticed a large uptick in tickets for cars parked in non-legal spots. I for one am very happy to see this.

I had a rather long chat with a young stout fellow who I think was the manager, that's how I was comped (compted?) the second batch of pasta.

What was wrong with the pasta? I was going to pick up some pappardelle on my way home today.

What time did you go? Did you have to wait to get a seat at the bar?

I was thinking about stopping in for a cocktail and an app this evening to check it out.

I just drove by it. It's right under the Pulaski. Thick plumes of black smoke. Looks like at least 3-4 alarms at this point. Saw trucks from Bayonne responding as well. Black smoked started to turn to grey which leads me to believe fire trucks were on scene with water on the fire

So everyone get in there and tell everyone you can at the counters that you want to see fresh fish! I was in there over the weekend and was talking about it to a few people. If they hear it enough and feel that the neighborhood will support it we'll have a lot better chance of making it happen. Posting it on this forum isn't going to help one bit.

You're kidding yourself if you believe most of the money came from 'people like you'. There is no way they raised 3/4 of a million dollars for the 2014 campaign strictly from the Jersey City tax base.

And please tell us where all the money for the opposition came from? Please don't try to tell it was all raised by knocking on doors in JC. They unions bused in teachers from all over New Jersey to campaign, that's Jersey City style??

You have no clue what the Friends of Monica Kress group is, so don't make assumptions.

That's true as well.

Back to the liquor license/distance to school/church. I know NYC has the 200ft rule.

That's a great question to be honest. I believe you need to be ~250ft from a school (that # could be very wrong).

I'm not sure how Silverman got the variance for that

What would be wrong with a vegan restaurant? I only care as long as they serve decent food. I don't think you can reject a restaurant proposal based on the it's proposed format.

HH won't really matter due to their proximity to the school. They can't legally have a liquor license. I'm not sure what the code is regarding BYOB though.

That's a bit far fetched. Even if they did present that, there would be nothing stop them from changing their plan. I think pretty much anything would be better in that space than what it is currently. It's not like McDonald's is going to take over the space.
