JC taxpayers pay such a tiny percentage of educating their own children that these posts are hilarious.

JC taxpayers pay such a tiny percentage of the school budget it shouldn?t be much. And JC residents will still be umdertaxed by NJ standards, by the tax assessment per $100,000 of home value.

Because Obama did such a great job with the swine flu pandemic-not declaring a national
emergency till six months in. Cuomo, DeBlasio, and his health commissioner telling everyone to go out and about, attend the Chinese New Year parade, go to movies, restaurants, and clubs that led to NYC being the top killing zone in the US-b-b-b it?s our President?s fault?

Back to reality, of NJ?s 422 high schools, Snyder ranks 322, Dickinson 285, Ferris 345, and Lincoln 339.

Magnet schools should be ranked with other magnet schools, not to those who accept all. What are the rankings for JC?s regular schools?

And it was state law that a) imposed a property tax cap and b) required all PILOT payments to be made to municipalities. So don't blame the district for underfunding.

Towns can ask for cap rises over 2%, and no city (including JC) was forced to give PILOTS at all, especially in non distressed areas like the JC waterfront.

JC schools have been playing with house money for decades, and given that it is Jersey City we can only imagine the graft and waste. Now that JC taxpayers will have more skin in the game, will they demand reform and transparency?

Yvonne, the result is a 2% increase in JC taxes. Considering how low JC taxes are compared to the NJ average your takeaway should be ?how lucky JC taxpayers have been for decades?.

To be clear, the 100-200% tax increase refers to the portion of taxes that support schools, not your overall real estate tax, no? It?s so large, since JC homeowners currently pay such a tiny amount to fund JC schoolchildren.

My point here is that as long as JC has been severely overfunded and undertaxed JC residents didn?t care about school funding, and BOE inefficient and wasteful spending. Now that?s changing we?ll see JC taxpayers sing a different tune.
