Two points, please.

1. Don't you have your own thread to promote your candidacy? How is telling is to Google your name on topic to Healy's running mate in Ward D?

2. Sorry you're hurt that Fulop didn't choose you as his running mate. But Candice Osborne = "rubber stamp"? LOL ridiculous.

The drawing gives the illusion that there's nothing else nearby. The reality is that it is a massive structure which will crowd and cramp the corner.

Not that it matters, but something taller and slimmer would suit the neighborhood better. But the same could be said of me.

Are we ever going to get anything on policy from the Mayor?

As far as I can tell he's only got a two pint plan: things are going great, and re-elect me because I'm a good old boy (Hudson County style).

Have I missed something? Should I be checking the award-winning website more often?

Honey Bakery is amazing. High quality, consistent, delicious. I have not tried their satellite down at Grove Street, but their home court on Bergen Ave is da bomb. Completely beyond any of the downtown fancy bakeries.

That sounds like an argument a banker would make.

The problem with the "everyone is to blame approach" is that it is factually incorrect, and it makes no one responsible.

It is a false claim that the government forced banks to make sub-prime loans.

If you need a single explanation of the mess, let's just go with the true statement that the system got to a place where the incentives were all screwed up, and rewards were surgically removed from risks. That includes the fact that virtually no one has been prosecuted, so a major incentive to commit fraud is still out there. If you can take the money and run, whether as a bank, an investor, or a homeowner, you will keep doing it until stopped.

...Jersey City Redevelopment Agency chief Bob Antonicello called a sublease arrangement ?great? news. ?It?s space that has been vacant ? so now they're going to put it into productive space, and that?s a good thing for Jersey City,? Antonicello said.

Antonicello added that 300,000 square feet of vacant space becoming occupied would be ?a major coup? for any other city. Panasonic will occupy less space in its much heralded new location in Newark, he noted.

Are these guys for real? They're already claiming credit for an accomplishment, when the only new is that Goldman is coming to grips with the reality that it's got a lot of vacant space that it will not be filling any time soon.

Mr. Redevelopment Agency- a "major coup" is when you do something extraordinary. Maybe you can think about claiming a "major coup" when you help lease the space at good rates and bring jobs and revenue into the city. Call us back when the lease is signed and the new tenants move in - not when you put the "space available" ad on Craig's list.

But I guess "major coup" for the Healy Administration is another day without a major disaster. Good job, guys.

Taking on water is not a guarantee that mold will form.

If you have access to the space, inspect to see if there are any signs of mold (use your eyes and nose).

If there are signs of mold, I would first give your landlord notice in writing (registered mail return receipt requested) and referencing your prior conversations. Sometimes this small escalation is enough to move a landlord to action, and it provides you with a record is there are further problems.

The good news is that mold remediation is usually not that tough. It's highly dependent on the materials involved, though. Porous material like sheetrock has to go.

The city has been ok about following up on landlord/mold complaints, especially if you follow up with them.

Check it out first and then check back.

Not sure how he plans on generating the necessary $, he ignored that sticking point.

Do you have a problem with the common part, or the sense part?

Let's take the prime example, though. The city already invests $ in itself. However, many are wasted because the city work force is often hired for reasons not related to ability and is often incompetently managed. Particularly when it comes to information systems, they are pathetic. The City's major problem here does not seem to be the amount spent, but how it is spent.

Here I think Fulop gets it exactly right, by starting at the top with the directors of City agencies. Living out of town is a symptom of the fact that they are appointed for reasons having nothing to do with the job they can do for the city. I've watched them stumble through their own budgets, misplace millions of dollars, lie about their departments and their performance, and consistently demonstrate an inability to plan AND deliver. I think we have NO IDEA what a competently managed city would look like because it's been so long since the HCDeadO tried anything like it.

Funny how Walker signs appeared all along West Side Ave the night before Jerry Walker made his announcement in the neighborhood.

I won't claim the Fulop folks don't do it too, but they're sure not sending sign crews out to litter telephone poles and streets. I haven't seen any of their signs except for the little blue ones in people's windows.

Fulop's plan is common-sense, no rocket science involved. Healy's people seem to be living in an alternate universe. Just try using the "award winning" city website. Just try calling the Mayor's "Action" Bureau. Just try finding a city director in town on the weekend.

As interesting as all this statistical bickering is (getz011 wins), it misses the original question about McGinley Square.

Maybe some of the Beacon folks have a different opinion, but down on the streets of the McGinley area, Beacon residents are not known or identified as such, and nobody really sees any significant effect on the neighborhood. The same for JCHA plans at Montgomery Gardens. Those do not seem connected to McGinley Square, and I sure don't see anything happening in the area until something happens AT the Square.

The Burger King has also not realized its promise of neighborhood revitalization. Please forgive me for not holding my breath.

I would love to see this implemented. It seems very well thought through. It supplements education, and helps keep kids away from crime and gangs.

Maybe Mayor Healy will endorse it again and regardless of election results we can see this passed.

The meeting, held at a Hudson County Community College facility in Union City, was sparsely attended, with fewer than a dozen members of the public on hand.

These guys are incapable of managing anything. The only reason there were hearings was because of public pressure led by Steve Fulop and his petition with over 1500 signatures.

NJ DOT has always said their concern about interim plans is directed at rush hours commuting. So what do these geniuses do? Schedule the hearing closest to the bridge at a time when rush hours commuters are at work. I would have been there except for this inconvenient thing I have called a job.

But they did schedule an evening session. Where you might ask? In Union City, so that Chris Christie's best friend could bring his troops to praise the governor.

I don't know what's the best solution to this mess. I would like to hear consideration of a reversible one-way path, so that in the mornings you have two lanes open inbound to NY, and in the afternoons two lanes outbound.

But the hearings seem like a joke, like NJ DOT's whole approach to the public. In the end they'll do exactly what they planned to do before us poor citizens inconvenienced them by asking for some consideration.

This sounds like the voice of apathy speaking. "Nobody is going to completely restructure the economy and society, therefore all choices are the same."

BS. The school board, post-Fulop, has made some real strides forward. And without a hint of the privatization red herring. The schools were subject to a corporate takeover years ago, only it was by a pair of a corrupt and poorly-managed corporations called the HCDeadO and ISB (Indifferent State Bureaucracy).

If you think there are bigger changes to be made, do something about it. Claiming that Fulop and Healy are equivalent choices is ridiculous. It's also disempowering to you and others if you can't suggest even the hint of an alternative.

Just two comments.

Jersey City election 2013: Fulop emails released, Healy camp not satisfied
By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
on February 19, 2013 at 11:39 AM, updated February 19, 2013 at 12:29 PM

The mayoral campaign of Jersey City Ward E City Councilman Steve Fulop late last week released hundreds of emails Fulop exchanged with members of the Board of Education in the past two years.

The emails are the focus of a lawsuit between the BOE and a political operative for the re-election campaign of Mayor Jerramiah Healy, Fulop?s longtime rival. Adam Herbsman, the operative, claims in the suit that the school district stonewalled by stalling when asked to release the documents, which he requested in November.

Predictably, the Healy and Fulop campaigns regard the emails differently, with Fulop?s camp saying they prove the Downtown councilman had no hand in awarding contracts to his political donors and Healy?s saying the release is incomplete.

At least three emails obtained by The Jersey Journal that show Fulop engaging in school-district business with BOE members are indeed missing from the 234 pages of emails released last Friday. BOE attorney Ramon Rivera said the district has produced ?all the documents that were sent to us that were related to board business.?

That does not make the Healy campaign happy, and they plan to continue with the lawsuit filed by Herbsman.

[More in original article.]

The pledge to serve no more than two full terms seems like a clear difference between the Fulop team and the Healy team. These are positions where it seems like 8 years is plenty of time to accomplish something.

I wonder if any of the Healy team will feel the need to take the same pledge?

Spoon's menu update is a hit. The pork bowl (dirty rice with pulled pork) is fabulous. Massaman Curry and Spoon Dog both good choices. The house-smoked meats all good, and the fresh-made juices are really nice. Still haven't tried the pizza, though.

The best burgers in Jersey City are all on the west side of town.

2. Jimmy Bravo's for an assortment of specialty burgers and hot dogs.

3. White Mana is what White Castle dreams of.
