My commute to work today was a lot of fun. Instead of 30 minutes door to door it took me 50+ minutes to get to the TPK southbound Truck lanes.

Chaos!

Rabies is less common than you think.

Every single morning I walk to the train all I smell is dog piss... it's just disgusting. That coupled with the insane amount of littering in the neighborhood really lowers the quality of life. Sure, it's convenient, but to walk through dog crap/piss and garbage is unacceptable.

Wait, now all the off-leash dogs are pissing on the PATH trains instead of the streets? We all know dogs cant pay fare... so that's at least three broken laws.

THESE OFF LEASH TURNSTILE HOPPING TRAIN PISSING DOGS MUST BE STOPPED

New to Jersey City and in need of a contractor. I've interviewed some and they seem to check out, but I've been burnt before by some companies that seemed legit but turned out to be crooks. Does anyone know of a service that does background checks on people or companies so I can be sure they're on the up-and-up? I've tried Angie's List, but I don't find it to be reliable.

My buddy Ian is a contractor. He's local, and a skilled guy! I can forward you his contact info!

Painting a mural in the graffiti style IS art created by artists.

Spray painting someone's car is destructive

big difference.

Unfortunately, many in here keep defending these "artists" as people to be accommodated and their "art" appreciated. I call BS. Anyone that trespasses and/or defaces private property is a criminal. It's that simple.

There's one rider on an Orange bike who zips up and down Columbus WAY over the speed limit. He's the same rider that consistently drops his bike in neutral and opens the throttle until the engine starts bouncing off the Rev limiter.

I hope his drivetrain grenades. What a shithead.

Harrison.

I vote heights. Grew up in Bayonne and have family there. If you are a homebody type who wants a garage and yard, decent schools, and low crime, go for Bayonne. If you prefer a bit more diversity of arts, music, and culture I think the Heights has a lot more potential than Bayonne right now especially given the recent arts rezoning.

Harrison is probably just dandy but I'd be wary of relying on Newark for night life. I work in Newark and I don't think I've ever stayed here later than 9:30 pm at night (except for qxts).

If I moved to Harrison I foresee myself spending a lot of time at Krug's

Out of curiosity, have you ever been a dog owner?

I'm not telling anybody what dog they should own, so relax. If you live in a cramped, urban environment, and are unwilling, or lack the means (i.e. a car) to travel to towns with large dogs runs (North Arlington, Leonia), it's pretty selfish to expect an entire city to just adjust everything for you.

Lack or preparation and thinking ahead on your part does constitute an emergency on our part.

But to everyone else, maybe settle down a little on the name calling. Joking around is one thing, but the back and forth name calling doesn't get us any closer to a solution.

The original purpose of this message was to let irresponsible dog owners know there is a growing unrest around their behaviors, and that there is a formal and persistent effort to do something about it.

I know it's a sensitive topic. But the substantive discussions are happening within neighborhood associations and with ward councilpersons.

There have been a few good ideas thrown out there amongst all the blabbering, and all will be considered when the solutions are implemented.

Correct djjcview. Asking an owner of an active dog why they bought an active dog in a cramped city with no official resources for them to utilize would be a much, much better question.

No one wants to answer that question, though. The usual answers are "who are you tell me what I can own" or something more rude to that effect. It's a reasonable question to ask to someone older than 5 years old, who, one would hope, operates on more than the id.

Pass, I don't need poison in my toothpaste, food, and medicine nor do I want lead in the toys I buy for kids in my family.

I also rather pay the extra 3 bucks for chicken than get diarrhea for a week from eating at hollywood chicken

AND I also rather drive to shop rite or A&P than buy expired food at key foods.

Need more info on my shopping habits?

also, I wish your property values nothing but the best. When are you planning on selling?

Newark between Grove st. and just past Erie st. could be turned into a pedestrian mall, with large outdoor seating areas for the restaurants on the block. Not gonna happen anytime super soon but I think it would be cool if it happened someday.
