All events dtjc should be canceled asap, no one down there appreciates shit. Move all events to other parts of the city immediately so that no one down there misses their appointments with their work out buddy.

Its actually the borderline of Greenville and Lafayette but the actual address sits in the Clairmont section of JC which divides Greenville and Bergen Lafayette.

Here are some details for those who are interested.

Spolizino, a member of the Emergency Services Unit, was issued summonses for speeding, careless driving, no vehicle inspection sticker and failure to wear a seat belt. Police Chief Tom Comey refused to comment further and wouldn't reveal how fast they believe Spolizino was going at the time of the accident until the investigation is completed.

Comey said that the investigation is still active and the results will be handed over to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Sunnyside Academy in Port Liberte video captures worker abusing 2 tots: cops
#37
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

A Jersey City couple was shocked Monday afternoon when they picked up their 19-month-old son from a Jersey City daycare center and found his face bruised and his lip swollen.

The boy's dad couldn't find the words to describe his feelings when he sat down with his wife and an administrator from Sunnyside Academy in Port Liberte and watched a video of an employee upending the boy from a box he was standing on, sending the innocent child crashing to the floor and smashing his face.

The employee in the video, Ann Bactawar, 26, of Jersey City, was charged last night with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of child abuse, Hudson County First Assistant Prosecutor Debra Simon said today. The second count on each charge stems from video footage that shows a second child being abused by Bactawar, Simon said.

Simon said the investigation is continuing to determine if more acts of abuse were committed at the daycare center. She said the Division of Youth and Family Services would be contacted and that parents of children who are attend daycare at Sunnyside would be notified of Bactawar's arrest.

Authorities have not released the video.

An administrator at Sunnyside refused to comment yesterday and no one was available this morning.

"The daycare center called Monday afternoon and said my son bit his lip," said the father of the 19-month-old. "We said 'OK. No problem.' We know that accidents happen and kids fall down sometimes."

But when the boy was picked up from the daycare center later Monday, his parents knew this was no ordinary fall.

"His face was swollen and there was an abrasion under his chin," the father said."So today we sat down with an administrator and the video was shocking. You can't believe that someone would do that to a 19-month-old."

The 19-month-old's dad said he believes Bactawar had been with the daycare center only a month or so. He added that since his son began attending there in August, there have been no other problems. An administrator at the daycare center declined to comment other than to say that the police are investigating the incident.

The administrator and the boy's dad also watched in horror yesterday as the worker left the 19-month-old crying on the floor and picked up a younger child by the arm, carried the child across the room and dropped the child on the floor.

"You see this stuff on TV and you never think that it will happen to you or your child," the 19-month-old's father said.

Jersey City Institutes LGBT Task Force, Sets Sights on Perfect MEI Score
#39
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Across the country, some of the most important work being done on LGBT inclusion is happening in cities and towns. It makes sense ? there is no level of government with a more personal relationship with its citizens. Cities have the power to make real, substantial change in their communities and, as the 2012 Municipal Equality Index showed, cities are bringing equality to a hometown near you.

Here?s an example: while Mayor Healy has been a friend to the LGBT community throughout his term as Mayor of Jersey City, he recently instituted a mayoral LGBT task force. Jersey City earned an 83 on the 2012 MEI, and while that score was in the top 20% of scores nationwide, Mayor Healy was not satisfied. He has his sights set on a perfect score in 2013, and he?s appointed a task force to help him do it.

t is thanks to municipal leaders like these that cities are implementing more inclusive policies, expanding the reach of important city services, and ensuring that LGBT people are treated equally and with respect in the eyes of the government that knows them best. It will be exciting to see Jersey City?s score improve on the upcoming 2013 MEI!

To learn more about the Municipal Equality Index and how your city can move closer to a perfect score, visit www.hrc.org/mei. Read the 2012 MEI report, see full-length, detailed scorecards for each city rated, and find out more about the cities who are bringing equality home.

The owner of a Downtown Jersey City pet-supplies store was stabbed inside the Newark Avenue establishment Wednesday, and police have charged a 37-year-old former employee with the crime.

Omar Bouzarari, 30, of Woodside, New York, was found inside his store, Fussy Friends on Newark Avenue, on Wednesday at around 8:30 p.m. bleeding from a stab wound under his left arm, according to a police report.

Bouzarai's lung was punctured in the stabbing, according to police spokesman Stan Eason.

Eason said the stabbing may have been the result of an ongoing dispute between the victim and Rachel Madour, the former employee charged with the crime.

Yes! I hear Fulop needs like 6,000 more voters from downtown to show up to the polls to pull this off. Greenville is on fire with Healy fever.

I lived downtown for 7 years, I am now in ward A . I have had many issues here in ward A and have reached out to my council person here but if it was not happening in Country Village he just does not care. I only seen him once since I lived here.

I have reached out to Steve to help and he has always come through. I was going to vote for Healy, because he has made some things here better since I arrived, but after super storm Sandy I decided that he did not deserve my vote.

We were in the dark up here for 9 days without a visit from our councilman or Healy. I got all my info about gas, water, ice, cell phone charging, and when my power will return from Fulop.

I don't pay as much taxes as some of you who live downtown but I think I pay enough for the neighborhood I live in. The average taxes here are 5k which are not much, but we get absolutely nothing for it. Stick a fork in Healy, he is done.

Yes, next to Wonder Bagel. I only been up here less than a year, I find myself ordering from here often. They just got the whole place renovated and remodeled so not sure how it was before I got here.

The delivery is fast, The slices are big, with real cheese with Jersey City prices, a pie is like 12 bucks. :) a win win.

I am the original poster, and I agree that it is not about race. But I am convinced that it is about power and money.

The poorer people in Jersey City just don't have as much pull as the richer people in Hoboken. I am sure that if the situation was reversed, and there was more demand for the Hoboken line than for the JSQ line, they would get more frequent trains assigned to Hoboken.

But we don't have that power in Jersey City, and we also happen to have more black and brown people living here. So it looks bad. And it feels unfair that we often have to board a crowded JSQ train after seeing a sparsely occupied Hoboken train pass by, whatever the reason for that is.

BTW, I am shocked to learn from JCbiscuit and ianmac47 that the reason JSQ often smells like garbage is that a garbage-loaded train is allowed to linger nearby. Who is responsible for that??

Is the lightrail racist by having a "'Bayonne Flyer"? Hell Yea! I think who ever screams the loudest black, brown, or white gets the most results.

I am not racist but I only take the Hoboken PATH because the JSQ is just awful.

The Hoboken PATH is a quite ride it has nothing to do with white folks; but everything to do with it has allot less people on their trains. I believe that's the reason their trains are not so chaotic, and pleasant to ride.

I take the lightrail from there back into BS also The JSQ trains don't only carry JC residents, Allot of folks transfer for the Newark line at JSQ which gives that line a sketchy vibe.

Police: Stay Out of the Red
BY LINDA GIANG

Jersey City is the second largest city in New Jersey, just behind Newark. As of the 2010 Census, Jersey City has a population of 247,530 people. This vast city runs for 14.9 square miles. A city of this size and population normally come with an equal amount of crime. It is useful for Saint Peter?s students who are not from the area to be aware of places to avoid. In an exclusive interview with several Jersey City Police Officers, who asked to remain anonymous, we got the lowdown on the city?s worst areas as far as crime.

Re: Property values in the Heights (post Sandy)

Every year people discover JC. I discovered it in 97 and called dtjc home until 2008 then I moved on, and discovered more of it, some peeps like condo's, some don't.

I did not stay downtown because I wanted a garage, a yard, and a ez commute to the city within the budget of 350K.

Bergen Lafayette, Greenville, Journal Square, & the Heights have the most people living in these areas with also the most home ownership not renters which is opposite of downtown 36k people with only 20% of them home owners.

People will continue to discover JC and most will start downtown and then either move out of JC or move to another location of JC. Downtown is a very transitional place where the average renter stays for four years then leaves for another area or even city.

Bottom Line is yes, property values will increase in the Heights because not everyone wants to buy a condo in a flood zone and pay gross fees forever on top of the huge tax increase that's coming in 2013. Also if Fulop wins, the whole city wins, not just downtown.

Well this is happening through out the city, Bed Bath and Beyond just opened their offices here in Greenville in a brand new developed building and 3 new condo complex have just arrived in Greenville.

Also condos are popping up in Bergen Lafayette, Heights and West Bergen. The entire city is experiencing this, but its only been noticed downtown because it is so much of it.
