I only go to the grocery stores in Jersey City for an emergency. I get frustrated and angry just being in their parking lots. I rather drive out of my way to Stop and Shop in Bayonne or Wegman's in Woodbridge, they're cheaper, the service and products are better, and the people are a little nicer. Wegman's is just great in general and is a company that actually treats its employees and customers right. I try to avoid any shopping in JC it's not worth the hassle.

I never buy fish from places around JC either. I hop on my 72' yacht and hire a crew to catch it all fresh for me. Then we drive down to Virginia to buy some real charcoal, then drive back up to JC and grill our freshly caught fish. It's very economical.

You've got to be kidding me. That is the most laughable statement I've read.

Yeah because the fence surely contains everything. Rainwater/runoff would never spread anything contaminated beyond the chain link fence.

No I couldn't sense the sarcasm. The Boys & Girls club is not all that far away and doesn't seem all that far fetched for you to say. That being said, it's a ridiculous thing being that there are lights installed with Hefty bags over them. Someone needs to get paid off to flip a switch I'm guessing.

Well of course they didn't give the dog water. They had the dog on hold waiting for a window to do the procedure. If they'd given the dog water, then it wouldn't have happened. Am I the only one that gets this? Your dog not getting water for 8 hours doesn't really constitute neglect in my eyes since the procedure the dog was going to have required no water beforehand. I doubt your dog even noticed and/or cared. If were 24 hours of more I could see your point, but come on.

So in the case of the Taqueria, they started with a food cart *gasp* and after seeing the demand and good business, they opened a full fledged restaurant. Which remains successful. We should definitely make sure this type of scenario never ever happens again.

I am just trying to start some "market research." I was tossing around the idea of opening a shop downtown. The guys on the corner of Newark and Grove have a handful of pipes...nothing major. A classy head shop this side of the Hudson would be nice... And no better location than down on Grove, IMO...

There are people here complaining when the wind blows the wrong way. I support you in your right to open what you want, but good luck keeping it open. You will be a far easier target to go after than any real problems this town has. Then those can feel like they accomplished something. The old "penny wise, dollar foolish" scenario comes to mind in great clarity.

They what exactly WERE you looking for when you posted? You weren't warning people of anything, or offering any content other than "Look what I did!"

What kind of bait do you use when you fish for compliments.

Maybe he posted it to alert others to the possibilities and that sometimes people actually do make a difference after reading/watching what others have done. There's a concept for ya eh?

Yeah... if you want to open up a nail salon or phone card shop, JC is your place. God forbid you try and open a restaurant or anything that adds any value to this town. You need a million dollars in bribes and about 4 years to sit on your thumb and rotate.

you are buying TOMATOES for christ's sake! What's so hard with putting up a "no refunds on produce." sign? Something tells me Ms. Lee is a little paranoid. As a previous poster said, do people really do this to save $2.50? People in this town really need to get a hobby and stop with all this petty crap!

In response to the original post, if it's Friday night outside a bar and you hear motorcycle noise around here, consider yourself lucky. Maybe if it was a Monday I could see your point. I'll agree that really loud motorcycles can be annoying, but there is actually truth to that saying "loud pipes save lives." It's because motorcycles are extremely hard to see at intersections, etc., so the theory is that you HEAR them if you don't see them. I have no scientific proof it it works, but that is the theory. Again, it's all part of city life. Complaining about loud motorcycles outside a BAR on a FRIDAY NIGHT isn't going to get much sympathy.

Man, you just can't please some people. Most of the stuff is downtown. Just about all of downtown is walkable. You also seem to know the "bigger" places as well. I simply cannot believe you are complaining because there is "too much" going on. The maps are perfectly clear. You could be living in another town with zero going on. There's always going to be something they could do better, but please. And again as was stated, you can always volunteer your services to make it better.

Re: VERIZON FIOS

All I know is I have FIOS now, saved about 50% over Comcast and have about 1,000% better service. I'm definitely in the honeymoon stage, but literally within seconds of everything FIOS being connected I canceled Comcast. They offered me one month of free service to keep me. I told them they could offer me a full year and it wouldn't matter. If it's around, get it!

Comcast's commercials saying "more HD than anyone" are blatant lies. They use their "on demand" to include HD. FIOS has all those channels and more live. CNN... CABLE News Network (note CABLE) for cripes sake is not available on Comcast in HD, but is on FIOS. Bravo, Food, Discovery, Smithsonian, etc etc in LIVE TIME. And the internet speeds.... um... bye Comcast. My upload speeds are now better than any download speeds I ever had. Sorry, I just couldn't wait to get rid of the arrogance that WAS Comcast!

Morton Williams IS Shop-Rite. Go and look at the "generic" brands... they are ALL Shop Rite. Walk a few blocks to 6th street, deal with some lines and you'll get all the same stuff, and 5 times the selection for about 30% cheaper. Morton Williams is a complete scam.

Has anyone seen this joke? It's on CNBC and other stations during the day. It basically says how great Healy has made Jersey City. Then it ends with "Look around, Jersey City is changing everywhere. Change we can see." It states how he's paved all the roads, lowered crime, created jobs, etc etc. What an insult to the residents of this town!

It is no less safe than any other area. The playground on Wayne is not the best spot in the world, but no one will bother you. Most of those guys stick to their own. There are lots of people that commute to the city and walk home at that time. That being said, it is still an urban environment and you should always be aware of your surroundings.
