@moobycow

I like the way you think buddy. I never understood why anyone calls the state "Jersey", IMO it should reference the city. BUt i think we really should annex all of the towns around us, even up in Bergen county seeing as more people from up there are depending on JC.

Thank Fulop!!!

Finally somebody is thinking the right way in our local governments. Just one question, why can't we just consolidate all of Hudson County into JC. This would still be the same concept because the different agencies would have to absorb each other, just like the JC EDC & HC EDC.

I know this idea has been brought up plenty of times but never really got a good answer other than it is stupid or wouldn't work. I always figured why have so many government bodies around this area, which is such a small area to begin with.

I dont mind playing with a girl ;). ....(20-23).

But most parks around here have aggressive players. if your in the Heights go to Washington park since there are two b-ball courts. One is the original side (union-city) where most go test skills. The other side (new court, JC side) is for younger or beginners. Its not set in stone but thats just how it turned out to be now

im still a young guy to remember JC when it had good days at all. born 1990 and the 90s was not a pretty time to be in JC. I see Jc now and looks completely different. Even my mother who was here since the 70s even cant believe the change it has gone through. I can still picture when most of the buildings along Washington were being built. Though i do have that feeling, don't know if its jealousy or not, of being left out not growing up during the good times, after i look at the plans for future development. Most of the "big" things coming here won't be done till 2050, give or take a few years.

I will be about 60 years old by then, the only thing ill be enjoying is my prune juice, and how bad things are getting after the post office raised the price of stamps by 1 cent. SOB!!!!!!..smh

but i guess what would be better is too train future recruits in the process.it will not work now, but is the system and processes are set up and new recruits learn them at an earlier time then possibly yea. Though itwould take longer to finish.

and they don't stop for Spanish neither. Ive had to deal with crap like this before, not a good feeling. Even on the light rail i dealt with prejudice. nothing "huge", but i found it funny that the times i go on the light rail and there isn't many people the cops decide to check the Hispanics and blacks, and RARELY have checked "white" people the times Ive been on the light rail, and Ive been on it numerous times being that i use to work in west new york and downtown.

this pic actually changes my mind: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_nP- ... zN188U/s800/whole_bar.jpg

Maybe the pics on JCI didn't do the place any justice or they took it at a time they were still decorating but this pic is better. I still think the tables and chairs are tacky and cheap though, oh well

^^^Well for something people were making a big deal of and by having some big threads, I did expect something a little more. Didnt have to be fancy but i figured it would be something closer to dave & busters without the food(before they mentioned food would be included). It looks so simple for something that took so long ( i know not their fault, its the city, i know i know..smh).

Maybe the one in brooklyn looks more like what im thinking of who knows, but like others i welcome them here. We definitely need more places to go IN this city.

dont know how this thread got sidetracked but whatever. I just saw the pics of inside the barcade and i have to admit i expected something better. The inside looks so bleh. Nothing spectacular at all, i didn't expect some 5 star lounge decor, but i did expect something better than school lunch chairs and tables.

@jerseyboy

I don't think anyone knows what exactly the entertainment center will feature. Right now it's on the planning board. I welcome it here and hope it has a very unique and creative architecture. To have it built looking just like a box, with windows????? heLL to the no!!!!!!!! They should build it the in the fashion of older times, almost like what Lowes theatre is.

@spider

how unfortunate for her, hope she recovered rather quickly and didn't have any permanent issues when she had facial surgery. But no one should be mad at her for being out that late. She is a grown woman that can be out at any hour if she pleases, she was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. But still people need to be cautious, even living on a quiet block can sometimes have crime, it's just part of city life.

@neverleft

I guess your trying to address me? !st, no one was bad mouthing the square or Marion. Marion would be easier to build up because it's less dense and better planned then the main section. No one from the Heights is scared from anyone from Marion, think no?... ask Summit mobb but this isn't that kind of forum sooo.

@hero69

you pretty much narrowed it down. People won't spend the same assists as they would in other places simply because of what they "think" JC and the rest of NJ is.

@JCSHEP

The reason downtown was able to see rapid development is because less people lived there during that time as opposed to J.sq. The square is the densest part of all of JC. Much of J.sq has old infrastructure dating back from the early 1900s, even mid 1800s to late. Downtown had space and was better laid out. The outside area J.sq, like Marion, would be better suited to change, i can see that happen. The "main" area would be hard since it is so compacted and many of the streets are narrow so bringing in bulldozers, cranes and other things needed would be difficult and meaning the closing off of certain streets.

I too love this city, born and raised, and would love to see J.sq especially change but realistically it would be a challenge. We would have to change how people think of the city, from just an "alternative" of ny to a priority of NJ. Even though ny has very, very limited space developers still continue to build there. "Outsiders" don't view this city the same as they do other places so they don't really want to spend the necessary time and money to change it. There are developers who are still reluctant to build outside downtown.

If you look at the topic about Montgermory gardens there is a link to an article about that area, if you can't find it here it is:

http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewt ... id=266641#forumpost266641

Nice links @ itgirl. and you do have a point in trying to support local entertainment, which is why i hate when someones mentions new york or hoboken for entertainment. We should get people INTO the city which would also help expand the "fun". This city has hidden spots throughout but most never hear about it.

Yea J.sq is being developed. The whole area is slated for a giant reform but J.sq's area will take years as they planned up to 2050 so it obviously won't happen fast. Though Mcginley Sq. is up and coming as now plans for development are gaining steam. Since Bergen/Lafayette are right next to J.sq, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that the influx of that area would start spilling over into J.sq. So i honestly say 3 years top for any noticeable change.
