Thanks to all who came out! What a wonderful day!
http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... productions_hosts_fi.html Art House Productions hosts first Kid Fest carnival Published: Saturday, January 28, 2012, 1:30 PM By Stephanie Musat/ For The Jersey Journal Liam McGovern thinks he is Spiderman. He climbs on everything, shoots webs out of his hands - even wears Spiderman pajamas to bed. So when his mom, Karen, heard that there was free face painting at Art House Productions today, she decided to let her 5-year old boy live out his dream. McGovern got his face painted as Spiderman and ran through Art House Productions pretending he was the superhero. "This makes him happy," Karen said. "These kinds of events make all kids happy." That's why Art House Productions decided to host Kid Fest for the first time. It's a way to showcase the services available while also giving kids a place to interact and have fun, said Christine Goodman, director of Art House productions. Plus, there aren't many festivals in the winter, so she knew kids would have a great time coming out and having fun, she said. "I am thrilled with the turnout," she said, as kids whizzed past her. The room was an organized chaos with boots set up around the perimeter, allowing kids to roam free in the middle. There was face painting, sewing, a stage for dancing and Goodman's favorite- chocolate mustaches so kids could pose with the facial hair and then eat it. More than 100 kids attended the event that started at 10 a.m. It was constant movement until 2 p.m. when the event ended. "I love the energy in here," Goodman said. The event also featured samplings of creativity workshops, games, live performances and acting exercises featured in Art House?s year-round programs for youth. The Art House paired with Story Haven, a workshop program for kids, to host the event. Amy Elise of Story Haven, said it will be an opportunity for kids to play during the winter months, as most festivals are held over the summer. ?It gives the kids something to look forward to during these cold winter months,? she said.

Present members and their work to producers and industry professionals Membership is free of charge, TO PARTICIPATE Writers? submissions should include: 1) A cover letter including how the applicant discovered the INKubator, as well as contact info for direct correspondence; 2) A bio or resume of professional training and credits; 3) One or two recent writing samples. Actors? submissions should include: 1) A cover letter including how the applicant discovered the INKubator, as well as contact info for direct correspondence; 2) A bio or resume of professional training and credits; 3) Headshot Writers? submissions should include: 1) A cover letter including how the applicant discovered the INKubator, as well as contact info for direct correspondence; 2) A bio or resume of professional training and credits; Email: INKubator@arthouseproductions.org or Mail: Art House Productions, P.O. Box 3264, Jersey City, NJ 07302, Attention: INKubator ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATION OF MONTHLY MEETINGS At least two weeks prior to a meeting, a writer may request a 5-20 minute slot via email with a script excerpt and casting requirements attached. The coordinator will schedule a reading of the excerpt for the next available meeting, confirm with the writer and coordinate actors. Excerpts will be forwarded to the actors in advance of the meeting, as actors are expected to be familiar with the work. At least one director will be present at each meeting. Writers who do not wish to submit work for an upcoming meeting are not expected to attend; however, all members and their feedback are always welcome and appreciated. Meetings begin with introductions and announcements, and then the floor opens for specific inquiries and recommendations to the group regarding current interests, as well as reflections on events and media relevant to ongoing projects. Once initial questions and comments are exhausted, the readings ensue. After each excerpt, the writer may interview the group for feedback. Then everyone present is given a five-minute period to write comments, which are collected in an envelope and handed to the writer. Feedback should be as specific and constructive as possible, no matter how favorable. ?It was excellent,? is not as productive as a thoughtful reflection on how the excerpt succeeded. Likewise, alternatives are usually less helpful than concrete reasons for why a particular segment could benefit from a rewrite. The meeting concludes with a takeaway from the director(s) in attendance. WHAT CAN BE GAINED? For writers, particularly those working in isolation at the start of a new project, the INKubator offers perspective on a new scene, as well as the excitement of hearing the words come alive, presumably for the first time. Actors gain deeper insights into the development process and secure an inside track to casting when these scripts are professionally produced. Reading new material on a regular basis keeps the actor?s proverbial wheels oiled, which is helpful to the demands of auditioning, not to mention originating new roles. And directors benefit from broadening their networks, exercising moment-to-moment reflections on the artistic process and facilitating the development of production-ready scripts that will need professional direction. Finally, the annual presentation series promises to showcase the work that has been developed in the group to a wide range of industry professionals with all eyes on advancing the projects and careers of the INKubator members. Art House Productions presents THE LAUGH TOUR An evening of hilarious Stand Up Comedy featuring Comedy Central's Dan Naturman + special guest Rich Kiamco An evening of laughter with comedians from The Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central, The Howard Stern Show and more! DATE/TIME Friday April 15, 2011 7pm concessions/mingling 8pm SHOW TICKETS $15 in advance $20 at the door http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/166143 24/7 Ticket Hotline: 1-800-838-3006 WEBSITE Tour info, video clips http://www.TheLaughTour.com VENUE ART HOUSE PRODUCTIONS 1 McWilliams Place, 6th Floor HAMILTON PARK SE corner Jersey City, NJ 07302 BIOS HEADLINER Dan Naturman Dan began performing stand-up comedy while a student at Fordham University School of Law. After graduating, he decided to turn his back on the law, and devote himself to comedy full time. His legal education did not go totally to waste however, as his New York State Bar Association membership gets him discounts on rental cars. Dan's charming, self-deprecating, sharp-tongued style has since made him a hit with comedy club audiences across the country. His joke telling and impeccable ability to work a crowd has a throwback quality of its own. With his quick-witted set-ups, Naturman speeds right into the hard-hitting punch lines he's know for- if ever there were a Groucho Marx of this century, Naturman would be the closest thing. Recorded at Acme Comedy Club in Minneapolis, Dan's CD, "Get Off My Property" was widely praised for its ability to twist usually humorless topics into amusing ideas that anyone can recognize. Punchline Magazine has called Dan's act a success because of its UNIVERSAL APPEAL. He was the favorite of celebrity judges Drew Carey and Brett Butler on Last Comic Standing Season 2 and has made several appearances on Late Show with David Letterman and Late Nite with Conan O'Brien. He is a regular at both The Comedy Cellar and Comix in New York. On a personal note, Dan has an intense fear of intimacy and has managed to avoid closeness with another human being his entire life. He lives alone on New York's Upper East Side. www.DanNaturman.com EMCEE/SPECIAL GUEST Rich Kiamco Rich is a force of nature that rips across the stage leaving laughter, tears and applause in his wake. His comedy career began with a sewing machine while attending the Fashion Institute Of Technology. He began performing stand-up at campus events and then became the costume designer for comedian Judy Tenuta. He then started performing with Judy as her "love slave" backup dancer, appearing in venues across the country, in Las Vegas and on The Howard Stern Show and a he's never left the stage since. His one man show, Unaccessorized, received the Overall Excellence Award at the NY International Fringe Festival and Best Solo Show at theMontreal GLBT International Theatre Festival. Rich has performed on campuses and venues across the USA, Canada, China and the Philippines. He is a frequent guest on Sirius XM Satellite Radio's OutQ: The Focus Group, was featured on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, and co-hosted the WE channel's 3 Men And A Chick Flick.
