I saw police / code officers checking permits / contractor licenses for crews doing basement work downtown the other day.

Beware if your crew is not on the up and up

On my block - 98% of the trash can be traced back to one business - However the owner of this business refuses to accept responsibility for it. Even when presented with the evidence.

When there is pizza and plates all over the side walk 20 feet from a pizza place, and the closest pizza place is 6 + blocks away... who do you think the pizza and plates are coming from?

If you are the owner of the pizza place on my street - its clearly coming from 6 blocks away.

Even though ordinance dictates that each building owner / occupant/ business owner whatever is required to pick up in front of their own property - when the source of all the trash comes from one location - it starts to take a toll on each neighbor.

If you own a pizza place, and there is a bunch of half eaten pizza and plates all over the block where your business is - regardless if it isn't directly in front of your building - the RIGHT THING TO DO is to assume responsibility and clean it up.

There have been many occasions when business owners and residents pitched in to clean up the trash on the block... Each time only one owner was missing... The pizza man and source of the filth.

City ordinance states that they only have to have one within a 1/4 mile radius.

Tried to get more put in on monmouth where all the HS kids trash the street during lunch but honestly, the pigs in this city won't use a bin even if its right in front of them.

I'm sure its uncommon to steal marked city vehicles, but unmarked vehicles are a much better take.

No they weren't

When the FD showed up to my house after we called because we smelled gas - they showed up and said "there is nothing we can do, we don't have a pump"

E5 was dispatched to me.

A quick look shows that E5 is a PUMPER TRUCK - WTF.
http://www.fdjc.org/pdf/FireHouseAddresses.pdf

Just to be clear -
I'm not mad that they didn't pump out our basement, I'm mad that lied to our faces while pumping out healy's hut.
They should have pumped it out - there was a very stong smell of gas that 10 of us could smell and when the FD showed up they claimed they couldn't smell anything.

it was for outstanding tickets - I wasn't parked illegally when this happened and was not in a residential area. The JCPA told me the threshold is $110

i didn't post this to complain about getting a boot - obviously i deserved it... I was only posting as a warning to other JClisters that the threshold for a boot is only $110.... which in my opinion seemed very low compared to other cities I've lived in. I also didn't get anything in the mail about be boot worthy.

Just trying to help!

successful burger deliveries:

hamilton inn
parkside bistro
white star bar
little sandwich shop

I've never had a bad burger delivered.

a burger patty being burned beyond extra well done does not happen in a wrapper from restaurant to house.

Being understaffed isn't an excuse - the feeling I got with my order is that they were staffed with people who didn't care about the final product.

Bottom line is - I had 2 bad experiences, and I'm sharing my review.

okay so.... I tried, I really did.

First experience was calling and getting hung up on 3 times... gave up and ordered a pizza.

But after all the good reviews on JClist I wanted to give it another shot.

So I called, ordered the eli manning, powerhouse burger and buffalo fries.

"The Eli Manning $8
House roast beef, caramelized onions, roasted
garlic, creamy horseradish sauce"

Roast beef was really good - but there was only one onion on the whole 10 inch sandwich. It measured about 1 inch by 1/4 of an inch. a true disappointment as a lover of caramelized onions. The horseradish sauce was also tasty, but it was gooped into the fold of the roll all by it self which left the taste of the sandwich uneven.

"The Powerhouse Prime Burger $9.50
1/2 lb. ground short rib, lettuce & tomato, with
old bay fries"

There was one good thing about this burger... the bun.
The burger patty literally tasted like a USDA government school lunch burger. It was completely dried out. The piece of lettuce was bad - bad enough not even to be used as garnish.... the slice of tomato was sliced from a grape tomato and there was one slice. A one inch round slice of tomato on a whole burger... what were they thinking. And to top it all off - they forgot the fries.

"Buffalo Fries $3
Crispy fries, blue cheese hot sauce"

I wasn't expecting much... after all this was a delivery order, fries usually don't survive. I pretty much got soggy fries logged with hot sauce and no bleu cheese to be found. It went straight to the garbage can.

To their credit, when I called about the missing french fries with the burger they were here within 10 minutes and made up in part for the horrible burger.

I won't be ordering again.

THANK THE LORD

This guy and his brother have been a menace to monmouth. Police are called on these two all the time for drug dealing and open container and they never show up. Glad to see JCPD actually did their job.

What people should understand, and I am not excusing bad behavior, it that there is not one garbage can passed Coles Street. People were putting their own trash in them and they took them away. They also cut the people who cleaned our blocks through the budget. Maybe asking for garbage cans on the ends of blocks by the school might try to solve the problem. Doubt it will happen but just a thought.

City code mandates that trash bins need to be with 1/4 mile of each other. From what I can tell, they have complied with that.

plenty of videos have been captured and sent to administrators and city government. the latest videos resulted in 5 students being suspended, arrested for drug possession, and mandatory treatment before being allowed back to school.

I live downtown but I have never seen this on a weekday since I work elsewhere. It is alarming. Can someone try to capture this on video? If it is this bad, I think a high quality video that documents it will prove to city hall that something needs to be done and show other residents how bad it is.
