Re: What's a Good Chinese Resturant in Chinatown.

Okay, so I'm old school with Chinese parents, we always went to Jing Fong on Elizabeth or Golden Unicorn. Both are what I dub as the Hong Kong mobster style --- j/k --- they're just huge and the places where wedding receptions are held.

Now that I've lived in NYC 20 years, my new finds are:

1. Oriental Garden - they really are excellent, even if they the name is cheesy; and
2. Shanghai Asian Cuisine - okay so this is technically Shanghainese food - they are so way better than Joe's - so get the juicy dumplings AND their noodles, which is what Shanghai food is famous for.

Enjoy!

It's actually a great store. They do have lots of knick knack West Village-y stuff but I had an amazing wool blanket and bed side lamp from there that was just awesome. They sell cool things - but I definitely prefer their home collection versus their goofy toys that are more like Alphabets (the store on Greenwich Ave and on the West side of Tomkins Square Park). I'm very excited!

Let's get a STOP sign at the intersection of Wayne St and Jersey Ave

Please help pedestrians by sending a request for a STOP sign at the corner of Wayne St and Jersey Ave.

The intersection is quite horrible. When you drive on Wayne St and get to the intersection, you can't see if there are cars coming! And the drivers on Jersey Ave don't yield / stop for pedestrians. It's horrible. Help your neighbors, visit the JC Government website and "Request a traffic sign" at that corner.

Here's the link: http://mygovhelp.com/jerseycitynj/_cs ... ZRBBWYKEMWUVKQPAC&cat=0&=

Thanks!

Does anyone know if there have been any community attempts to get a stop sign at that intersection? Any ideas of how to do this? The City of JC's website is a mess.

Thanks!

Is there a community yard sale space? church or school, etc?

I'm wondering if there is a community space that people can hold their yard sale? Don't really want to have it front of my apt on Wayne.

Any info on neighborhood churches or schools that may have monthly, quarterly or semi annual events like this, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dumplings are good but they're not Chinatown Cantonese dumplings.

I've had the pork and chives which I think are the best of their selection. I've also had the duck and pork over rice, this is pretty close to what you'd get in Ch-town. The pork lo mein is just the noodles with the pork on top. So that gets my lowest vote.

All in all, if you're looking for Chinese restaurant dumplings, it's a good deal. If you're looking for my mom's cantonese dumplings soup, it's not here.
