Re: North Korea to release 3 US citizens before meeting with Trump

Why not? It's worth about $130,000 to Trump out of his own pocket, or so Rudy the lawyer says.

It's good that those prisoners are coming home, but for you to seriously ask for credit is rather sad and pathetic. At least let Trump beg for it himself.

That sounds really convincing, coming from a Trump fan.

What's next? You gonna tell me Trump doesn't pay off porn stars? Rudy just might disagree with you.

Oh I know perfectly well why it happened. That doesn't change the fact we benefited from it during Obama's administration and he didn't really do anything to hurt that trend. Trump however is causing problems with Iran and that has an effect with oil prices. That's why we are seeing prices we haven't seen since 2014.

And yet, we got lower gas during Obama's term. It's undeniable history so stop coming up with lame excuses.

Gas is going up everywhere in the US. Stop making it just about NJ.

If you still want to make this about Korea, you could say Trump just made it harder to drive to the nearest BBQ place. Have you burned your MAGA cap yet?

What part of MAGA has anything to do with Korea?

In the meantime, the price of gas is going up in guess what? America.

Thanks Trump.

Yeah, nobody is calling for a week off.

We've had snow for the past 3 weeks so I can understand why there is caution. It's not just this storm you should be worried about, it's the damage from the previous ones adding up. You know tree parts and live power cables falling on kids is not good for anyone. The smell alone, I can't even imagine.

Oops, we beat up the wrong guy. Funny thing is, even if you beat up the 'right' guy, the city will still get sued and we all end up paying for it. Is it too much to ask for them to just do their jobs with composure? First rule of police work should be to not act like the thugs you are arresting. Is that too much to ask nowadays?

I always felt a little more responsibility wouldn't hurt and a little vigilance goes a long way. If you aren't there to accept your package to the minute, then have it relocated to a safe box/depot. Or... you can go crazy and do/buy what this guy has.

Either way, it may be good for laughs or a visit from Homeland. Who knows, it may even start a shootout. Just don't forget to post it on youtube.

Congress can apparently countermand the FCC with a CRA (Congressional Review Act) so keep the pressure on Congress if you want net neutrality to survive.

Sensible reform is always welcome, but simply doing away with chain migration is ridiculous. The 'best and brightest' may not even want to come here if they can't bring their family over. My point is to not make bizarre conclusions because one jackass decided to terrorize subway riders. Politics has nothing to do with it, it is pure math.

As for changes to chain migration, sure. After going through all the background checks, the legal fees, etc. It would be nice to have less wait time. Some people wait decades. The system is capped yearly so lengthy waits are unavoidable but 20+ years? That's crazy.

Yeah, and discussing with insults and general lack of facts to back up your policies, let alone some statistical numbers is what? More like your kind of game? Not sure what conservatives are nowadays but they used to be smarter and more rational.

Nobody is justifying a crime here. I didn't cite illegal immigration out of thin air. It's a fact that it exists because the market exists. You want to bury your head in the sand, do it at your own thread. Let me know what is really wrong with chain immigration and why the work of one criminal suddenly invalidates decades of accepted practices where millions of productive lives have been brought into this country. Keep talking about your tribal nonsense as if that has any bearing to the facts.

And as I have said, if 'we' ever did that, Donald Trump wouldn't even exist. A comforting thought but unrealistic. There is no one criteria for 'best and the brightest' and when it comes to realistic needs, we won't always have a need for those. More than ever, farmers have need for low skill labor. Do you plan on leaving your job to fill that void? I don't think so. There is a reason there is a market for illegal immigration in this country and it's not because we have a desperate need for the 'best and brightest.'

And here's the kicker. The vast majority of countries that chain migrants come from aren't from areas where jihadis live. Hell they're not even Muslim. Talk about a dumb knee jerk reaction.

Let me just add that, in place of chain migration, you sobs want a solely merit based migration? Ok, fine. Lets apply that to Mary Anne MacLeod. She's a migrant from Scotland with and 8th grade education. She wants to enter the US as a maid. I think she fails the merit test with such low prospects and more of a possible drain to the economy, right? While as tempting a prospect that would be for Trump haters, we wouldn't be the country we are now if such a system was in place decades ago. And yes, they were are more lax back then compared to now. Mary would have a hard time and a much longer wait with the current system. She may just miss out on Fred.

Destroyed because one out of 23 people ended up being a criminal? Hyperbole much? So what happens to the other 22 who happen to be non criminals and are otherwise leading quiet and productive lives? We know that in everything we do here in America, just like with legal immigration, there will be some bad apples. That doesn't mean Law Enforcement with a few dirty cops is suddenly destroying America. Or maybe it is, and you are just picking and choosing what suits your politics. I like to think that America is much stronger than the weak dumpster-fire that you and Trump like to portray.

Just for shits, why don't you tell me when the USA didn't have chain immigration and tell us just how lovely and so much greater it is to now? Because that's what you want right? Eliminate chain immigration?

Spot on for what? Being an idiot as usual? Chain immigration has its problems, namely, it is already far too strict and lengthy process. Gone are the days when Italians can bring mama to the States before she croaked.

Lets focus on the crime here which is domestic terrorism. The guy has been here since 2011. So unless the FBI can prove the guy was some genius ISIS agent who took his sweet ass time to blow himself up in comical fashion then the stringent process of screening chain migrants worked just fine. Is the guy on a watch list? Nope. Seems to me, the guy got radicalized here, for whatever stupid reason one has for blowing himself and innocent people in the process.

Compared to other much worse domestic terrorists we've had lately, this guy is a joke but since he's Muslim and an immigrant, let's talk about immigration policy. /smh So are we done talking about guns control yet after that massacre in Las Vegas? No?

Enough already. What else will it take for the city to take pedestrian safety seriously? And, for proper enforcement of existing laws? The streets all over JC are very, very dangerous and stressful. If I have to drive, I find myself heading out of town to run my errands just so I can try and avoid some of the craziness.

Sadly, it is usually when kids die and outrage boils over that something happens. Like what happened on Kennedy Blvd. last year.

I see no statistical data to back up your claim. If we go all the way back in history, I can easily claim not only more cases but also a far more institutional practice that never gets public notice. It is a far more insidious but hardly ever mentioned because the rich and the powerful make it that way.

Affirmative action is not always invoked, race is only one of the many factors considered. On the other hand, legacy admission is by far the most arbitrary decision that can only be made by money and connections.

I think it's a no-brainer which is worse and should be dealt with first. When it actually becomes a true meritocracy that money can no longer buy, then you can take off affirmative action, not before.

Next? It's a far older practice than affirmative action! It should be first and foremost but it seems to be no big deal to you? They could even deal with it at the same time, but nooo, not even a mention. Affirmative action was a reaction to segregationist policies and white privilege practices like legacy admissions. I think it is only right to first remove the primary evil before removing the necessary evil.

Pitting one minority group against another is the best distraction the majority, especially the powerfully rich, can come up with to hide their BS. Asians should be just as pissed about the white privileged getting in through legacy admissions or any other but nooo, let's focus on the tiny scraps that other minorities get over them. I argue that there are just as many people aggrieved by affirmative action as by legacy admissions. I dare you to prove otherwise. I ask again, where is the Department of Justice on legacy admissions? Why are the Kushners and Trumps of the world getting ahead of the Jias? I think if we take away affirmative action, you will truly see how ugly legacy admissions really are.

I wish affirmative action doesn't have a racial component but since race is still very much tied to the socio-economic component which I think should be the deciding factor on who gets helped by this policy, then I don't have a problem with it. I wish affirmative action can help poor white kids of comparable academics scores or better to be admitted over the other white kids who got in easily because their daddy is a Trump, but sure, let's focus on the those minorities who 'stole' their spot. White people have been screwing each other all the time based on 'legacy' admissions but I don't see the Justice Dept investigating that any time soon.

Who knew Trump is a liar, a cheat, and a con-man? Everyone in New Jersey at the very least should know. I have no sympathy for anyone who voted for him in the Northeast. You might have had the unfortunate choice of voting between two douchebags but you still voted for the biggest one so congrats. The irony is, Trump must have been right because you have to be on some serious meds to have voted for him.

And once again, more useless 'policies' that will die in the courts. Just like the recent attempt to curb legal immigration which Congress wouldn't even look at. Please, anything but Russia talk and those sanctions I didn't want to sign!
