Ok, so at least you admit you were incorrect trying to say that at one point, Italians had committed the majority of the crimes.

It's not about poverty because as I pointed out, West Virginia is one of the poorest states in the country yet also has one of the lowest crime rates in the country.

What it's about is culture. Specifically African American culture. It is a problem. And yes, it is an actual thing.

It's not about race because as many people don't know, there is a large rift between Africans and African Americans. Specifically, Africans look down on African Americans. They seem them as lazy, unwilling to educate themselves, squandering their opportunities, and willing to blame the white man about everything.

Is it "racist" when it is Africans who hold these beliefs?

Everything I just said can be verified through Google searches but here are some examples:

Four men were arrested and charged with murder in the terrifying carjacking of a young New Jersey man in a mall parking lot, authorities said.

Bail was set at $2 million for Karif Ford, 31, Basim Henry, 32, and Kevin Roberts, 33, all of Newark, and Hanif Thompson, 29, of Irvington, in the point-blank shooting of Dustin Friedland, 30, as his wife looked on.

No need to comment on the appearance of the murderers, as we aren't advanced enough as a society to handle that issue.

But everyone should note the following: "?It was the car, not the person, that appears to be the target of this crime,? said Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray."

Re: Jersey City to choose new ambulance provider?
Home away from home
Home away from home

I am most concerned with the complete lack of discussion as to how much a town resident will pay for an ambulance ride under McCabe vs. JCMC.

It is my understanding based on the posts in this thread that McCabe is out of network for most insurances. And I have posted the links based on my research that demonstrate the cost to a patient for an out of network ambulance ride ranges from $750 - $2,000.

Obviously this is horrible. However, how much does it cost for a JCMC ambulance ride right now? Would that change if JCMC is awarded the new contract? Are JCMC ambulances in network for most insurances?

I don't care if the town gets an extra $2 million from the McCabe contract if the residents lose out in the form of paying $2000 for previously cheap ambulance rides.

But all I see from the JCMC side are arguments that JCMC should keep the contract because they have served the city for so long. I'm not very persuaded by that either, especially as it seems like JCMC has been ripping the city off for decades for charging the city money for the contract and all of a sudden they will do it for free now that McCabe will pay $$.

So I think it is Fulop's responsibility to make some kind of statement as to how much residents will pay under either contract. His quote from the linked article is the difference between McCabe's proposal and JCMC?s is ?night and day.? This just seems arrogant and isn't conveying anything about costs to residents. Why are no articles asking this?

Profit vs Non profit is just a small part of the issue, the bigger issue is can Mccabe offer a comparable level of service and care for the patient that JCMC offers. First off all one has to do is look no further then Secaucus, Mccabe had that contract which called for them to maintain 2 ambulances and have a response time of no more then 8 minutes. They lost the contract because they could not maintain 2 ambulances and their response time was well OVER 8 MINUTES!!!

If this is true, it's one of the only actual facts entered into the argument rather than overwrought emotional pleas. Can you provide links to this data? Sorry, but the for-profit nature of the business seems to be big issue for some. Where's Boris when we need him decrying the anti-capitalists?

Has anyone actually gotten the data on what the patient would be charged, if anything, for an out of network ambulance?

Wake up. People aren't so upset merely because they don't like "for profit" businesses. A simple Google search reveals that the range is between $750 - $2000 for a single out of network ambulance ride.

No wonder people are getting so upset. And no wonder this company is willing to pay millions for this contract. Because they'll make it all back and a lot more.

Just checked Fulop's Facebook page to see if he's saying anything about this.

Nope, we can read all about his fun time in DC with Obama, but nothing about this decision that could greatly affect the finances of everyone in Jersey City.

There are certain people who refuse to face the truth no matter how it's laid in front of them.

Point to the crime statistics, that's just "institutional racism" at work. What about the knockout game? Haha no such thing, that's just the media trying to scare you. So in this case, it must have been a targeted hit. It simply can't be that we have a huge problem with black culture and violence in this country, not at all.

The biggest thing to consider is people say this new ambulance provider does not accept insurance.

Therefore, this change is a HUGE LOSS for Jersey City residents, if true.

The only piece posted in support has been what looks like a propaganda piece, written by someone with a financial interest in having this deal work out.

Exactly. Complaining about income inequality, when almost half of the USA pays zero federal income tax, is absurd on every level.

I can't stand Obama. However, the reason there's record numbers of Americans on foodstamps and not paying income tax is because there's record levels of poverty. And the cause is not that half of the country has decided they are too lazy to work or care.

This is definitely a problem.

So you believe shame is a better motivator than say, passion. That's sad to me.

In the case of a public transit agency, it might be, although even then that doesn't seem to matter sometimes.

Hate to break it to you but the Port Authority is not motivated by passion or shame. It's a somewhat unique creature, being filled with political appointees from two states, in that they don't really have to answer to anyone but the politicians who got them the job.

And during a hearing on the Port Authority's illegal closure of many GWB lanes to spite the Fort Lee mayor for not endorsing Governor Christie, a senior Port Authority employee essentially said they have a "culture of fear."

So fear is the motivator you guys were looking for. Fear of pissing off the political animals who run the show. Not fear of the pubic, or shame, or passion, or any other reason.

We don't see the church's income statements. I'd be curious to know how much of the money they take in/taxes they don't pay goes to helping the poor and how much towards helping themselves.

I'm sorry but don't believe the lies that the knockout game is a myth. I have a feeling that the same people perpetuating that lie are very much against stop and frisk and are engaging in a PR battle that denies reality.

The other day there were 3 more knockout attacks reported in Philadelphia.

"The only apparent motive in these attacks, as in all ?Knockout? attacks, is to inflict injury on a random victim."

http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2013 ... ted-in-philadelphia-area/

And the other day one of the kids who played the knockout game got shot by his victim and ended up in the hospital. He gave an interview to the news, so why not watch his interview and then see if you believe the NY Times' insistence that he doesn't exist?

I have no sympathy for a drug manufacturer/dealer but I am a little concerned as to how the authorities found out about this guy.

The article just says that he "conducted internet research on the manufacture of MDA." Then he bought materials from EBay.

How did they find out about this "internet research?" Monitoring everyone's Google searches and flagging those who search for illegal drugs?

I am ok with this government spying for purposes of national security and preventing terrorism but not to go after people who search for other things. I can only hope there is more to this story.
