Re: Wayne Street Issues

I say get rid of that little park. I live on Wayne St and it's always filled with knuckleheads. I would NEVER let my kids play there. I don't even like walking down that block.

Van Vorst is 2 blocks away. The kids can play there.

TEAR DOWN THIS PLAYGROUND!!!!!

We are doing pretty good so far. JC real estate didn't shoot up as much as Brooklyn and the entry points are still pretty low to attract a lot of first time buyers.

Classic. Give me my money. I love these people. Give me my money.

I wish I got paid to move, but that's right I have a job and it's my responsibility to pay for these people. I'm sorry, I'll go back to work now so these people can enjoy my hard earned money.

I don't think supermarkets discriminate. I also think a supermarket would cater to people of all economic classes. They are not building more condos so I don't get your point.

What exactly are you complaining about?

I think any type of project is a bad thing. Clustering subsidized people together in one area is always bad. If you are pro low-income you should understand this. Spreading subsidized tenants across the city would serve them better.

There are a banks other than Wells that will lend in Dixon Mills. My bank for one has done numerous loans in the building. Feel free to shoot me PM if you want to discuss your options. I live here, know all the parties involved and have already approved the building.

Re: Downtown: Newark and Barrow man was robbed by five teens

Home away from home

I walked by 2 men and 3 women in their late teens last night sitting on the stoops of Paulimer Place. They were running their mouths but I guess I didn't look like someone they would want to mess with. My "Spidey Sense" was defiently tingling as I walked by them as they made some comments. The whole time I was thinking about this thread. It wasn't the local people that hang on that corner so I was getting ready to throw down.

These kids think they are soo tough and try to "flex" on people to prove it. Seems like a waste of time to me. You never see the real tough guys until it's too late.

As to why I think the person that was robbed had a lot of cash, 2 cellphones and a passport... He was most likely a tourist from abroad. Some of our cellphones don't work overseas so I guess some of theirs don't work over here.

The cops have to start throwing these punks in jail. They need to come down hard with random friskings and lock these F'rs up.

Also, they haven't re-assesed the building as of yet. I'm still only paying $140 per month in taxes. Prob won't last but I've been here all year.

I bought here and I love it. I'm not going to get into a huge debate but it was the best price per sq ft I found downtown. I have a garage space, the Path is 3 blocks away, Van Vorst 2 blocks away. I've met a lot of great people in the buildings and it's what I always wanted; a converted factory loft.

Re: No more passageway? Developer's protest may alter Newark Ave. redevelopment
Home away from home
Home away from home

This anti-paseo movement I suspect was started by Delforno. The building mysteriously burned down and they had plans for a new 8 story building within weeks. I smell something afoul here. Delforno owns multiple buildings throughout the area that are just sitting not being developed. They don't want to rehab their buildings, they want to tear them down and build larger. They get the residents all bent out of shape claiming eminent domain and putting fear into them that the big bad city will one day come and take your home away, that the paseo will be a dangerous alleyway that muggers will attack you on. I don't buy that bag of goods.

The building next door is ready to be developed with plans for 3 new restaurant spaces which would open up on to the new paseo. It would be good for the area.

Don't let Delforno and their spin machine sway your opinion. The paseo is a great idea that will open up the downtown center that will be here soon.

Re: How many people does Lehman Brothers employ in Jersey City?
Home away from home
Home away from home

I had a pretty long conversation with a higher up at Barclay's on Friday afternoon. We discussed the market and the chaos that ensued last week. So I asked him point blank what their intentions were with the acquistion of Lehman. Barclay's didn't acquire any of the bad real estate from Lehman, they acquired people as he put it. From my understanding they are going to keep a lot of the Lehman jobs as it increases their presence here, something that they were looking to do for a while and the opportunity presented itself. I'm sure there will be layoffs but maybe not as severe as we all are expecting.

Take it for what you will.

What can we do to help? Many downtown residents want to see the other areas of JC improved. We don't live in a bubble as some people think. People all over the city need to stand up and say enough is enough. Get out and vote and change the administration. Downtown has only recently become the nieghborhood that it curently is. Only 5 years ago downtown was a lot rougher and closer to greenville in crime.

Re: Greenville: 3 Shooting Incidents Hours Apart

When I say Greenville I'm not refering to your handle I'm refering to the neighborhood.

The point I'm trying to make is that these thugs are glamourized by the youth. They want to grow up to be a hustler, or a pimp, or a gangsta. How about son, grow up to be a lawyer, a fireman, a teacher, a doctor. And don't give me the BS about a product of the environment. I went to high school in the S. Bronx in the early 90's and plenty of people I went to school with went on to do great things.
Families need to stop making excuses and actually RAISE their children. Make sure they go to school, check to make sure they did their homework, talk to their teachers, etc.

Stop the excuses and do something, don't wait for someone to.

I wasn't even talking about the police shooting. Just read the above article about these thugs running around broad daylight shooting people in the streets like it's the F'n Wild Wild West!!!

One went through a window into a daycare center. Try to defend these lowlifes when you child is shot dead.

Enough is enough take back your neighborhood Greenville and stop blaming others and the system. You are being held hostage by your own children.

What the F is going on in Greenville?

People of Greenville you need to make a stand that this will not be tolerated. You can not continue to protect and makes excuses for these Thugs. These Thugs are tearing your community apart. The thug lifestyle needs to stop being admired by the youth. It is a disease that will infect your entire community.

The no snitching policy has to stop and enough is enough with, "he was such a good boy."

I actually spoke to the developer at Robert Martin Co about this exact topic.

Port City Java is continuing to get in to the space. The space is a commercial condo and they already closed on the unit so Port City Java owns the space. As to what the hold up opening it, he couldn't tell me. He did say that they were still planning to open just couldn't give me a time line.

That's all I got out of him.

I was actually thinking about posting something about it this past week but I guess the bust beat me to it.

Greenvillechick- I don't want to throw gas on the fire here but looking at your history of posts you always tend to side with the crimminals and thugs. Why is that? I'm not trying to to start a fight here but it's pretty clear that you are on the side of the bag guys making excuses for them. If you carry a loaded gun (been convicted THREE TIMES prior) you need to accept the cards you are dealt.

Live by the gun die by the gun.

Newark Avenue Redevelopment
Home away from home
Home away from home

A detailed plan to revamp the area around Newark Avenue is up for a final vote before the City Council
The Newark Avenue Redevelopment Plan promotes changes including an outdoor passageway connecting Newark Avenue to Christopher Columbus Drive, and storefronts looking out on Christopher Columbus Drive.

Has anyone heard anything about this? I didn't realize that they had plans to open up a passageway and stores on Columbus?

I also heard that they are planning to do away with all parking on Columbus and make it more like a highway/thoroughfare. Have you heard about this? This is not really a good thing, it will make the street like a highway.

Anybody?
