Going to the police is a huge waste of time. It will end up in a room, in the corner and sit there forever or eventually get taken home by someone.

go to face book, swap sell jersey city group an dpost about it there. And I agree that posting to JC list will get you a lot further than dropping by the police dept.

You're talking about the animals, right?

BTW, there's been studies of feral dogs around the world, and they actually fall into a pretty narrow phenotype: 30-40 lb shorthairs. Too big & too small don't cut it. I kinda agree about the shortcomings of TNR, but I'm positive if you asked one of my cats if he'd rather live "fast and short" on the streets than lose his outside privileges, he'd take his chances. That's where we found him to begin with.

That would be because they're mutts. The street dogs in Italy, China, Jamaica, Mexico, etc. all look the same.

Re: Taphaus Biergarten
Home away from home
Home away from home

Tried to go last Saturday. Walked in at 11:45. Sapce is nice, views are obviously amazing. Hard to screw that up. But that's about it. There were about ten people at a few different tables and what looked like ten bartenders and servers. Were they expecting a huge crowd?

Anyway, like I said, we walked in at 11:45, made it about 15 steps through the door, and were promptly told that they were closed and they already had last call. I didn't even get a chance to look at the taps. Seemed like an odd way to try and build clientele for a new business. So we turned around and walked out.

Other than a light happy hour crowd or some residents of that building, I dont know who their base is going to be. I really cant see schlepping down there and I dont see many DTJC people going all the way down there either. I didn't notice any parking, so anyone that wants views would end up a Batello and anyone that wants a Biergarten would end up at Zepp.

I wish the owners luck. Hopefully, they can work out their horus. Maybe I'll give it another shot for an early bird special or a work HH.

I say he is right ! Food Market is one thing, Food Court is another.
If you had a Florist, and right down the corner there selling flowers from buckets, for no where near the cost it takes to be in business. What would you do ? No offense but I can't stand
opinions from people who have no idea on what it takes to run a business. You should boycott Jeff's place, and every other store that agrees with him. Better yet post your photo so that they can throw you out.

so because this guy bought some property, everyone else is a second class citizen that isn't allowed to participate in the free market? I will gladly keep enjoying my beer and tacos and empanadas at the farmers market while that place sits empty.

I was wondering if I was going to get any snide comments as I rode my bike through just above a snail's pace last night, sans bell. Luckily I escaped without a scolding or anyone trying to knock me to the ground with a "do-see-do hip check or clothesline."

I'm a Bike JC board member, and we haven't taken an official position on this yet, so this is just my personal opinion.

As I understand it, riding a bike is technically illegal within the pedestrian plaza (hence the name).

However, I suspect what will happen here is what tends to happen in NYC's makeshift/part-time pedestrian streets, e.g., Fulton Street in the Financial District:

When foot traffic is light or mostly just passing through, and there is lots of room in the street, a cyclist proceeding slowly, carefully and respectfully through will usually be tolerated pretty well by pedestrians and police. That?s what was happening during the evening rush last night, when I deliberately observed bike traffic for about half an hour. Nine out of 10 cyclists were just riding through the open spaces in the street, all keeping it mellow, and nobody seemed to mind. A few cyclists were also arriving at businesses within the plaza, and they generally rolled in a ways before dismounting. And actually, I didn?t see a single cyclist riding on the sidewalks(!), no doubt because suddenly none were afraid of being hit by cars.

But at peak times when (if) the street fills up with people just strolling, people sitting at outdoor tables, random piano players, etc., it will become annoying and dangerous to bike through, and most cyclists will get off and walk or will ride around the block. I know I will.

In other words, common sense will prevail.
Shocking, I know! But I?ve seen it happen. Personally I?d be satisfied with that outcome.

Agreed. And this is how I always navagate Grove plaza. It's not that complicated to tell when it's crowded or not.

Put this sign up and you'll certainly get people that have the dogs with fake service vests trying to sit down.

All service vests are "fake". There is no such thing as an official service vest, or an "official" service dog designation. It's all one big scam, really.

As of today, there are no requirements for licensing, certification or identification of service dogs. And, the animals are not required to wear special collars, vests or harnesses. This is a huge, glaring hole in the ADA laws.

We also have a lot of young and prosperous people moving in of all sorts - are they the perps of xenophobia or the target?
