Downtown: 'All-girl' wolfpack robbery

'All-girl' wolfpack robbery

Thursday, September 27, 2007
A she-wolfpack was on the prowl Tuesday night, pursuing and then attacking and robbing a woman in Downtown Jersey City, police said.

Police spokesman Stan H. Eason said the assault was similar to past wolfpack attacks. What's new is that the attackers were girls.

"We're going to pursue these punkettes as vigilantly as we have pursued their male counterparts," Eason said.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, a woman in her 20s told police, a pack of five or six girls, some on bikes and some on foot, followed closely behind her as she was walking north on Monmouth Street after getting off the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail at the Jersey Avenue Station.

One of the girls pulled at her purse, then another pulled her hair, bringing her to the ground as one of the girls ran off with her purse, according to reports.

Last week I stopped by & was advised that it will be a couple more weeks. The gym looks good, it is all clean & setup. They are waiting on the city for inspections - something having to do w/ connections for the outside of the building - not sure on the particulars.

But that was last week - and I don't have any more status....Can someone else shed some light on the subject?

Re: Wayne Street Issues

Quite a regular

The main problem is the stuff that goes on on Wayne St. would NEVER fly on other blocks and that is what pisses me off. The reality is that cops ignore what happens on that block because it keeps the trouble makers in one area, instead of having them spread all over the nicer blocks.
I just want the police and the city to treat out little area with the same repect they would treat VVP area, or that whole area near the marina.
There is no reason why Wayne St. and section 8 housing should not have to abide by the same rules as everyone else.
At the end of the day that little park is the root of the problem.

GP you still owe me money from that David Murray bet.

And once again- "SEMI-automatic" means one pull and release of the trigger fires ONE round. The press always loves to use "semiautomatic" to imply that people are roaming the streets with machine guns.

Save youself a buck and fight the ticket. Bring tons of paperwork as a "burden" of proof. Hey like any job they make mistakes too luckily you have a court system to be heard. And BTW welcome to Jersey City read you N.J state driver's manual. Stay off the corners and play musical cars. Most of all buy a folding bike !

The movie theaters at Edgewater on River Rd. have stadium seating and they?re generally clean with good projection and sound.

When we go there we usually combine it with a grocery run to the (dare I say it? ) Whole Foods that?s another 7-minute drive North of the movie theater.

alright, finally went last night. the place is fine, service at the bar was adaquit and the small plates we ordered came out promptly. did't go crazy, but enjoyed the chips the brocoli raub/sausage (raub was cooked perfectly) and the cheapo chicken tenders which were about as good as you could ask tenders to be (subtle coconut flavor, nice dipping sauce and super moist meat). Everything else I saw served while there looked and smelled great.

No doubt I will go back again... and again and again and again.

It might be impossible to tell but it is likely true. Keep in mind that semiautomatic pistols comprised 63 percent of crime guns, while revolvers made up only 25 percent. Semiautomatic pistols comprised 68 percent of crime guns used by youth and juveniles.

Whoever thinks more recreational programs are going to solve the problem is living in fantasy island. gang violence is not stemming from a lack of parks or sports places or afterschool activities, i think it developes because of bad parenting and a lack of tough penalties.

Just because one is poor or comes from the "inner city" does not mean one joins a gang!

THE 10 HOTTEST DEVELOPMENTS IN NEW YORK CITY AND BEYOND

By KATHERINE DYKSTRA

77 Hudson

Aside from the Manhattan views you'll get in nearly three-quarters of the 420 residences at Jersey City's 77 Hudson, every unit in the two 48-story glass towers looks onto a raised 30,000-square-foot landscaped deck with a swimming pool, walking paths and large expanses of grass for picnicking. The one- to three-bedroom units and penthouses at 77 Hudson range from 525 square feet to more than 1,700 square feet, and from $500,000 to $2 million-plus. Buyers can choose from three design schemes for their kitchens with options for cabinets, back-splashes, stone or quartz counter-tops and wood floors. Bathrooms have chiseled quartz walls, glass mosaic plumbing columns and cantilevered wood vanities with double-trough sinks. Contact: (866) 754-7696

163 Montrose

Is there no end to Williamsburg's expansion? Take 163 Montrose, which is located in East Williamsburg (read: Bushwick), just off the fifth stop on the L train. This loft conversion into five two-bedroom rental units is pricing its smallest unit, which is 489 square feet, at $2,100 a month. The largest unit, an 813-square-foot two-bedroom, is $2,500 a month. The building is the latest project conceived by Rafi Elbaz, whose Lifeform Design Build & Development NY is responsible for the Esquire and N7 buildings in Williamsburg proper. In restoring the three-story 163 Montrose, Lifeform preserved original wood flooring, added energy-saving double-glazed windows and salvaged wooden columns and beams for structural reuse. Gunman panics group on avenue

"Nobody move!" a gunman yelled to a group of 10 persons walking along Roosevelt Avenue just before midnight Tuesday, witnesses told Jersey City police.

When some in the group fled, the gunman fired a round from a semiautomatic handgun, according to reports.

The shooting took place near the intersection of Roosevelt and West Side avenues after the gunman emerged from a black sedan with two other passengers, reports said.

Witnesses told police he was between 20 and 25 years old, 5-foot-9, clean shaven and was wearing a black hoodie.

COURT IN A 'FIX'
A.G. probes ticket scandal dogging 2 city judges

Thursday, September 27, 2007
By MICHAELANGELO CONTE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

The inquiry into "Ticket-gate" widened yesterday as the state Attorney General's Office announced it has launched an investigation into issues leading to the resignation of Jersey City's chief municipal court judge who, according to sources, may fixed tickets for a woman she was romantically involved with.

It also came to light yesterday that another judge has taken an unpaid leave of absence related to fixing tickets, officials said.

Jersey City Chief Municipal Court Judge Wanda Molina resigned Sept. 20 in the wake of allegations she improperly disposed of parking tickets issued to her partner, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Municipal Court Judge Erwin Rosen took an unpaid leave of absence effective Tuesday as a result of allegations he "improperly dismissed one of his own parking tickets," according to the same sources.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office had been investigating ticket fixing by Municipal Court employees, but Hudson County Trial Court Administrator Joseph Davis confirmed yesterday that the Attorney General's Office has become the lead agency looking into the matter.

Along with Molina, the Attorney General's Office is investigating Municipal Court employees Victor Matos and Virginia Pagan, who were suspended based on allegations that they fixed their own tickets, officials said. Their suspensions came before Molina's resignation.

Jennifer Morrill, a spokeswoman for Mayor Jerramiah Healy, said Healy received a letter from Rosen yesterday saying he was stepping down for an unspecified period of time. Rosen has been a part-time Municipal Court judge - a position that pays about $20,000 - for about 10 years, Morrill said.

"I am very familiar with Mr. Rosen's performance as a judge and it was almost always done with perfection," Healy said. "Without fail he has treated prosecutors, lawyers, defendants, complainants, police officers, clerks and everyone who goes before him with the utmost courtesy."

The investigation "will take its course, but I would reiterate that there have been no criminal charges made at this point," said Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio.

State Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner has appointed state Superior Court Judge Sheila A. Venable to temporarily fill Molina's position.

Neither Rosen, nor Molina's attorney, could be reached for comment yesterday.

Green card holders cannot tell jury duty go f... itself. Actually, green card holders cannot take jury duty. So, for the few perverts who would enjoy it, and for all green card holders, there is NO choice.
Next: dual citizenship is de facto tolerated by the United States. People who get US citizenship and choose to keep their previous one too are not subject to any penalty.
Moreover, from our side, the propaganda has it that it that it is better to have a US citizenship than anything else. It's been years since the BBC started preaching about the Thailand problem - thousands of Brits are in jail there, with no fair defense, with no chance of doing their time at home, while most Americans are sent home where they are punished less severe. (Thailand laws are extremely tough.)
Also, I remember a string of DWI killings of East Europeans, from Poland to Bulgaria, by regular Americans. As soon as it happens, the Americans are flown home, where they are judged without witnesses (most East Europeans cannot afford to travel here, because it is expensive and visa are issued in a billion years) and acquitted. Do you think any country in the world would be able to save me from here, the same way?
Other than that, my main worry which would prevent me from getting the citizenship is a possible reintroduction of the draft. That is scary. Yesterday at the UN, even Mugabe had a point

1. Dual citizenship simply complicates your life:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_citizenship

2. With US citizenship, yes, you get flown home from countries that have a good relationship with the US. That list of countries is becoming increasingly smaller. US passport holders are probably the most hated global travellers given recent events.

3. Jury duty notices seem to be sent to everyone that pays taxes - for some reason the US government have a hard time figuring out who is and isnt a citizen. The fallacy isnt whether a non-citizen can serve, the fallacy is that different branches of US government know what they are doing.

The lighthouse does have a light facing east but it is not a legal navigational aid. Sam Lefrak just wanted the structure to go with his boat that he kept at the adjacent marina. It is useful as a landmark in finding the marina by boat at night (the marina itself is not well lit).Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Thats not the way it works. Merrill's is regulated based on the type of business it conducts in the countries it trades. Merrill Lynch has banking operations that are regulated by the Fed - same with virtually every "investment bank".

The tricky thing there is Newport is a "private" development, but the streets and and waterfront walkway are public. However, the rent-a-cops don't understand the difference between public and private and will tell you photography is prohibited.
