For our Mayor, City Council, Police Chief and all the local papers to cast a blind eye to this and let this kind of behavior slide through the cracks is yet another reason that most of the USA finds NJ to be such a corrupt state. Sad but true.

Come on JC Government what are you going to say about this? Look at all the constituents who have seen this thread and yet none of us have heard your response. Pathetic!!!

Unreal, if you want to know why the media doesn't want to cover it ask them. The reporter from both the Jersey Journal and the Hudson Reporter are logged in thru out the day. Also the thread was also started on another forum and much more details about the punishment was posted.

I'm done posting on this thread because I have nothing further to add. So, if you want to make my "silence" a conspiracy theory" so be it, I do find it a bit funny how some here really do stink when it comes to research.

Finally anyone condoning this 'all authority and power' but no accountability is merely in agreement with the current administration and status quo.

It not just these cops on video, but the whole appointment and accountability process that includes the recent Judges and admin. staff screwing around with parking tickets.

I guess we can't expect much more from a convicted criminal as Mayor.

I agree and find the number of posts saying to give the cops a break kind of shocking. This has been bumper year for questionable shootings all across the country. Even in NY where a law was passed to give police sobriety tests after shootings , the policeman's union is fighting the law. these guys are not stocking shelves.. they carry guns. I doubt that many people would find it acceptable if a bus driver or pilot was discovered to be drunk while working even if it was a freelance gig and only got a slap on the wrist. At least according to posts on the NJ.com forum the guy driving in the video was promoted to LT. People seem to forget how quickly one can go form being a citizen to a arrested and if the people who wield the power have no public accountability how safe are we?

I left my car for work at Pep Boys - but the lot right in front was full, so I parked it a few spots over closer to BJs, and it was towed. They claimed that the Pep Boys lot (bordered by the drivable section) is separate from the BJs/Shoprite/BedBath section.... luckily Pep Boys got them to tow it back.... but not before I spent 30 minutes fighting with them. This was Danny's Towing - the red truck - and Danny is a dick.

Not for Nothing, you are asking us to call a Politician. How do we know he isn't try to protect the city's interests? I searched the Jersey Journal's database and found no reference to any story from this incident. I tried the Merit Review and found no reference there. All I am asking is if anyone has some concrete evidence or a reliable Press reference to get to the bottom of this story. I am not accusing anyone of anything but it is difficult to just take someone's word on an internet blog. I am not anti-cop but these guys should know better, they are not teenagers.

I'd so agree with you if I didn't just watch someone do it right in front of me! Oops, now I'm watching someone else following my advice but yet, bumping the car behind them. Umm, not THAT close. Solution? We just bought a parking spot for $150 from someone's driveway on 4th. Woohoo. So I'll let it go!

I was told that there was a couple on 5th that would park their cars one in front of the other, then if one needed to run an errand, pull out and move the other to take both spots till they returned. If I lived on that block, those cars would not be pretty.

Re: JC Parking Code of Ethics

JCPD was on my block (WestSide) yesterday towing cars (3 cars). I asked them what's up and, get this, all of the cars were stolen. Seems that car thieves like to boost a ride elsewhere and stash it on "nice" blocks then come over to get it when they need it. If it gets towed for being a stolen ride, its hard to pin it on a regular actor in the nabe and they can always spot a stakeout on the car.

I have always wondered why I'll see 19-year-olds in 5 series BMWs parking on our block and walking up to JFK to catch the 99 bus. Well, now I know.

To put this on topic: They often pull in to spots in such a way to keep other cars from parking between them and the driveway cut outs.

i can relate to this however, a lot of times it is just due to circumstance of one car never moving and multiple cars parking and leaving in the interim of all different sizes causing this problem. it is not necessarily some inconsiderate prick doing this on purpose so you just have to roll with the punches sometimes.

The smart thing to do if your going to the mall, is to pretend that your going to ShopRite, go in and change your shirt, sneak through Marin Blvd and go to the mall. Or you could just park at the mall and save yourself time and money. Oh and mothaPhuck EZ towing, and every other sneaky towing company in JC.

Happened to me too! My brand new car... it was traumatizing!

We parked at Pepboys, went in, bought something there, then decided we were hungry and walked over to Chili's. Not an hour later walked out to an empty lot.

The guy at EZ towing was really nice to us. He said that they have a guy with a camera that takes your picture when you leave the area, so really it's your own fault. who can argue with that, really?

They towed three other cars in the 40 mins we were standing there. efficient m'fers.

I have googled every possible variant of this incident and have not found anything. It seems that the Merit Review Board only handles cases in which the punishment is challenged by a NJ State employee. If anyone has some evidence that these guys were punished I (and I am sure everyone else) would love to see it. I am sorry but I can't take the word of another city employee unless some proof is brought forward.

Of course evertone is looking out for their interests, including the guy that owns the Butler building and the Newmark guy...and I do think Healy is a crooked creep. Why doesn't Toll just move the tower to the Marin Blvd site of the property and make their proposed tower less intrusive.

im here to chime in...that happened to me once. I thought it was one great big happy family. Until they towed my car! You'd think they put up something that says hey we towed your car. but noooooo I came out of the mall with my brand new $30 haircut and found no car. Of course my first reaction is to panic and freak out. Then I realized what happened. They actually towed my car FIVE mins after running into the mall. Unfriginbelievable. I paid $125 to get it back and I have cursed them since. I still curse them and wish them the same fate that happened to me and see if they like it! Do unto others are you WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU!!

Yes, well despite appearances, since metro plaza is not part of newport mall, parking there to go to the mall is not allowed. Hopefully that derelict shopping plaza is replaced with the proposed mixed use development sooner rather than later.

Is that the white tow truck with the American flag on the back window? I think EZ towing?

I've been living here two months and have seen them drive by my apt on Montgomery hundreds of times with cars dragging behind them. They get so many cars, they seem like they must be up to no good.

yup - I parked there once to run into the mall for 20 min - I know, I'm stupid...when I came out they were getting ready to tow my car next - 20 min! be careful! it's one thing JC is actually on top of - although, of course, it's not the city - it's an independent contractor hoping to make money.

I go by there everyday and there is always a big, lifted truck keeping watch on the cars that park there, and his partner in the tow truck.

They are there all day long towing cars i assume they feel aren't patrons in the BJs, Pep Boys, or Shoprite.

They may very-well be legit in the cars that they tow, but I would NEVER park my car anywhere in the outskirts - They seem to tow WAY too many cars day-in and day-out.

I could be wrong, they may be totally legit but I don't believe it.

In any case, my point is don't park your car in that giant parking lot to take the light rail or go to the mall - They're watching you.

JERSEY CITY, Oct. 9 ? Four of the city?s 10 municipal court judges ? including the former chief judge ? are being investigated by the New Jersey attorney general?s office on suspicion of fixing parking tickets for friends or family, and in at least one case for a colleague on the bench, officials here say.

The latest news and reader discussions from around the five boroughs and the region.
Go to City Room ?
During the past month, the chief judge has resigned and the three other judges have taken leaves of absence. In addition, the chief justice of the State Supreme Court, Stuart J. Rabner, has assigned the day-to-day operations of the court to a Superior Court judge from Hudson County.

In a state regularly buffeted by the indictments and convictions of public officials, the trial court administrator here, Joseph F. Davis, added an ominous note.

?People are concerned with what they?re seeing,? Mr. Davis, whose position is part of the state court system, said in a recent telephone interview, ?and others may be concerned with our ongoing investigation.?

Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy ? a former Jersey City municipal court judge himself who appointed the recently-resigned chief judge to her $109,265-a-year position ? said he was shocked and saddened.

?People have a right to be disappointed and somewhat angered,? Mr. Healy said in a recent interview. ?I was certainly surprised.?

In this growing and gentrifying city, the disclosure has resonated with many over what is a perennially volatile subject: the scarcity of parking spaces and the price paid for violations.

?It?s unconscionable,? Randy Cuevas, 19, a hip-hop music producer, said on Tuesday after paying the court $110 for a parking violation and additional costs. Next, Mr. Cuevas said, he was headed to the city?s parking authority, where he would pay $120 to remove a Denver boot, which locks illegally parked cars in place. ?I?m paying tickets left and right.?

According to officials here, the judges being investigated include Chief Judge Wanda Molina, who resigned last month, and Pauline E. Sica, Irwin Rosen and Victor G. Sison, who took unpaid leaves. None of the judges responded to telephone calls seeking comment.

The latter three gave the mayor letters expressing their intentions to take leaves of absenc

wow! This video (if a true account of Jersey City Police Officers) would see these Officers dismissed immediately in any other law enforcement agency. If they haven't been dismissed, then an open and public investigation should take place.
The public trust has be compromised, not only the officers should be investigated, but also the people and process to retain their services. Internal Affairs has a lot to answer for in my opinion, regardless if there was any internal politics at play.
