WTF! The dog too? That's going too far.

Seems that the rules of engagement no longer apply. The kids of today have clearly and completely lost their minds.

First of all, Comcast will never go out of business. When I read posts like this, I have to laugh. Do you think customers are not happy with Verizon? Do you have any idea how misleading Verizon sales practice are? And you do have a choice... DirectTV And Dishnetwork. Or go back to rabbit ears :D-

Over all Comcast is not that bad, as for the most part, service has been reliable. Within the past 6+ years, I lost service on my TV and internet 3x, if that. While the internet service is not as has fast as I would like it to be, and the cost too HIGH, I'd give Comcast a 7 on a scale of 1-10. Customer Service is horriable tho. If you call, ask if they are in Lousiana (out source co) and request to be connected to the Union office.

The biggest problem is that Comcast won't tell customers what they're even paying for.

The advertise all their internet services as "UNLIMITED", However there are limits and if you breach them they will terminate your account.

If you ask what these limits are, they won't tell you. This is one messed up company....

CBS NEWS:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/01/30/tech/main597032.shtml

This is not just comcast; most large ISPs are advertising "unlimited access" and then limiting usage. The ISP will claim their ads are "unlimited ACCESS," not "Unlimited USE."

In real terms, USE and ACCESS are the same thing. That is, by definition, access to the internet is use of the internet; Its impossible to access the internet without transmitting and receiving data. As far as I know, there has not been any major court cases dealing specifically with the issue of access vs. use.

However, I suspect most old judges will not understand this. Its a series of tubes, after all, and sometimes these tubes get clogged. Anyway, my point is that while Comcast and other ISPs might claim there is a difference between access and usage, there really isn't, but that will only hold up in court if judges on the various appeals courts understand that the internet is not a series of tubes that will get clogged without drano.

R U serious? Just hope you don't run into a wolfpack when you are alone. Aren't you aware that they've pushed ppl into oncoming traffic on Kennedy Blvd., put others in the hospital by beating the hell out of them. These are vicious attacks not a freakin' joke.

Re: The Smell

I had noticed that the smell returned about two months ago. I think there is something cyclical since last fall was the worst time for the smell also. If you get off the Turnpike at 14B and go west to Garfield, you get a nice view of the smoldering mountain which is now twice as big as last year- so much for responses from the City and State. Last night the smell was the strongest I have smelt at Pacific and Lafayette. I don't know how the families living along Garfield directly over the plant can stand it. Thanks for the numbers above. I'll start calling again.

Re: The Smell

One of the by-products of mulch is hydrogen sulfide.
And based on the smell, I don't think that we were exposed to "typical environmental concentrations".

How can hydrogen sulfide affect my health?

Exposure to low concentrations of hydrogen sulfide may cause irritation to the eyes, nose, or throat. It may also cause difficulty in breathing for some asthmatics. Brief exposures to high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (greater than 500 ppm) can cause a loss of consciousness and possibly death. In most cases, the person appears to regain consciousness without any other effects. However, in many individuals, there may be permanent or long-term effects such as headaches, poor attention span, poor memory, and poor motor function. No health effects have been found in humans exposed to typical environmental concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (0.00011?0.00033 ppm).

What constitutes a "wolfpack"?

Should I be worried if I am walking down the street with a few friends that someone might run and hide under the cries of "Dear God, help me! It's a wolfpack!"

Wolfpacks- the killer bees of '07.

Re: The Smell

Newbie

I'd noticed this smell the past couple days driving on the turpike near exit 14B/C. The smell was so bad this morning when I walked out of my apartment near Jersey/Mercer, that I went online to see if I could find anything reported on it. As suggested, I called the DEP at 973.656.4444 and filed a complaint. They said they had gotten a few complaints & would investigate.

I live on Fairview and the smell was so bad that I contacted the DEP and filed a report with them. They came out, of course, once the smell had dissipated but they informed me and my neighbor to call it in whenever you notice it. The number to call is 973.656.4444. If they can actually track the smell (which seems obvious) back to the place of origin, it helps them build a stronger case against the company responsible for it.

What you were told by this operator s NOT acceptable! Check your inbox here for a PM (personal message) from me for further action.

Just so all know who read this topic thread, the Downtown Jersey City Watch is the most active group in all of Jersey City meeting with the police on a regular basis. We meet monthly with Captain McDonough, Commander of the East District (Zones 1-6 encompassing all of downtown jc), through emails, phone calls and with PO Reilly the Community Relations Officer as well. We also meet with Chief Comey and Police Director Jefferson through the CEC and we deal with problem areas such as reported above by whoever this person was who answered the phone for the non-emergency number.

Whenever you call the non-emergency number, please do not proceed until you have asked the operator for her identifying name and number. Once you become a "block watcher" we will assign you a corresponding block watcher id so that info carries more weight when calling as a DJCW block watcher as all operators know that we follow up with ALL calls logged.

In addition, as stated before, the most effective way to add your voice is to come to the monthly meetings and to ask your questions and voice your concerns directly to the Captain and join us in finding solutions.

It seems they have stopped blowing their horns.

I received a street cleaning ticket yesterday on 8th street. I was home with my car parked just outtside my window and intended to run out and move it when they blew the horn.

It is not very nice of them to suddenly change this without warning.

Robin.

Also, I read about the mugging on 5th and Jersey. I am petrified. What can I do to protect myself? We need more police presence, I want to be told what I can do to demand more foot patrol. What can I have in my purse to protect myself? Pepper spray? Bear spray? I don't carry valuables but still, they don't know that - all they see is a purse. This is getting ridiculous, again - I pay too much tax to be scared.
