HPNA neglects to hold Nominations for Elections
Home away from home
Home away from home

The Hamilton Park Neighborhood Association (HPNA) have neglected to announce publically their nominations for elections on their November newsletter. For whatever reason (forgot? too busy?), it's unacceptable.

The HPNA are regulars at the City Council and Planning Board meetings and they claim to represent the community of Hamilton Park. But ask people around town what they think of the HPNA and you might get an earful, and some of it isn't so nice! Others will ask "who are they"?

They have six officers and 10 trustees. And each November, their seats are all up for grabs!

The HPNA have a reputation for being a "private club" and when residents are not encouraged or welcomed to get involved, and when Officers that have different opinions are asked to resign and worse, are no longer invited to their board meetings, then there's a problem.

It's understandable, that many folks do not have time to get involved. But then, there are those of us that do have time and want to be involved. It's unacceptable for the HPNA to neglect holding nominations this November and to delay another month or two until they are ready.

Next HPNA Meeting is Wednesday Oct. 2
7:30 pm
Coredero School, Erie Street, bet. 8th & 9th

If the HPNA does not welcome new people to it's board of directors or fails to hold democratic elections on an annual basis, then we don't need them representing us!

I agree.... there's something about the outside appearance... the wood shingles and take-out window that says it's a good place. And it is.

I agree with OneSkirt. Being able to discuss events on the forum is a PLUS.

I was informed recently that there was a dog show last year in Hamilton Park. I live in Hamilton Park and I didn't even know about it! And they had an evening with Shakesphear which was poorly attended. What a shame!

I'm not involved with the Shakesphear event that I understand goes around to the different parks to perform, but I did know about it. I saw the info. online and could have posted it for others to see. But it isn't approprirate for me to post this info. on the event calendar, because I'm not the organizer.

To the poster that wrote those ugly things about the people in Hamilton Park.. I'm offended. There are some really nice people in HP.

"The possibility of this going through is probably pretty slim," said Reock. "But really, it depends on how passionate the residents are and how willing they are to fight."

The sacrifices are worth it, according to the residents.

"Even if we don't get relief from our parking problems, so what?" said Ambrogio. He said residents have not talked to Fair Lawn officials about the parking situation. "If this goes through, there are no guarantees. But at least we will belong to a better community. Now we have nothing. So ... what are we possibly going to lose? Nothing."

Sounds like it would be worth looking into. Why not?
