I thought that the use of a baseball bat to the head would be considered attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon. (Or is aggravated assault legally the same thing?) Add to the fact that the robbery and attack was pre-orchestrated... I am particularly bothered by the lack of charges for Jasmine Rios.

I completely defend David's right to bear arms and run a business. Really don't understand the arguement that a gun shop has no business on Newark because we're in the city and not the country. I've also been in his shop a couple of times and he's never been aggresive trying to sell me a fire arm or was he spouting hate speech like some of you claim.

by the way, I don't own a firearm nor do I posess a permit to carry but from the rigorous standards I've heard New Jersey upholds, if he passed it enough said.

I'm from Long Island, Please do not equate Great Neck to Queens, no offense to those from Queens but there are some seriously seedy areas in Queens and it's much more urban than Long Island where Great Neck is.

I have noticed in the past week, that it has been mighty silent while the street cleaner covers my block, and that only half the cars on my street (First Street, bteween Erie and Manila) have tickets. I asked the Parking Authority officer in the little trike what gives? She said that the cars that are not ticketed belong to policemen, and they were instructed not to give tickets on First Street or Bay Street between Erie and Manila, and not to give any warning beeps as was the practice in the past. In fact the street cleaner won't even go up Bay from Manila, it makes a left on Manila, right on Newark, Right on Erie, completely bypassing the section between Manila and Erie. and is not giving any warning beeps to make up for the shortfall in tickets. This really stinks, as you now have to look for the street cleaner so that you move your car in time.

oh so we're back to selective ticketing then

Crap like this isn't graffiti, it's vandalism.

According to Merriam Webster, Graffiti is " unauthorized writing or drawing on a public surface "

What's your definition? Where does it come from?

any and all graffiti is form of vandalism of property

Healy's likely new role for Czaplicki: directing city's HEDC department

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

Carl Czaplicki, Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy's chief of staff for nearly three years, is changing jobs.

Healy intends to appoint Czaplicki to be director of the city's Department of Housing, Economic, Development and Commerce, according to sources.

Through his spokeswoman, Jennifer Morrill, the mayor confirmed that Czaplicki's transfer is imminent.

"I do envision using Carl's skills and talents to benefit me and the city at either the HEDC or the (Jersey City) Redevelopment Agency in the near future," Healy said through his spokeswoman.

Asked why he was moving Czaplicki out of the chief of staff role, Healy said, "Carl's tenure as chief of staff for two years and 10 months is probably a record in that position in Jersey City.

"However, there was a vacancy made at HEDC when Barbara Netchert (the department's former director) left to become the new county clerk.

Since Netchert's appointment to the county clerk post in July, Jersey City Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Robert Antonicello has been HEDC's acting director. Dominick Pandolfo, the mayor's deputy chief of staff, is expected to be named to replace Czaplicki, sources said.

Pandolfo is "one of the many names that's been proposed as the next chief of staff," Healy said.
