This guy is a phony, as an immigrant he should have to wait his turn like everyone else. The comments at the end of the article are quite comical but true.

Check with the public safety / fire dept. or your neighborhood association. I bet the office of emergency management from the county has some answers too.

I guess we will see how many JC residents will support this sanctuary status when their taxes and rents start going up

I agree Azul home owners won't stand for this. I hope these renters live in rent controlled apartments, projects, or multi-dwellings because once the city looses it's federal funding their rents will have to make up the difference.

I believe the majority of folks living in JC enjoy the diversity the municipality has to offer - and agree on refugee acceptance through a normal review process and do not accept travel bans from these 7 countries, but a thorough and complete background review followed by permission to enter the US. Union City and JC definitely do not support Trump and Bannon's current executive travel ban and refugee stoppage. It is illegal - pure discrimination + fear mongering at its best.

I support the temporary ban, and if it was unconstitutional it would not be in effect.

It is because they are emotional children who can't properly consider the consequences of their actions.

Luckily for America, we elected the adults, who are doing exactly what they were elected to do. The children will continue having their temper tantrums, but they are of no consequence.

I hear ya JCMAN8 we will probably see more of those tantrums tomorrow evening as they are in Battery Park Nyc. Hopefully the legislature will find a resolve that will benefit our home turf.

JERSEY CITY -- Residents will gather Monday night to show their support for the city's immigrant and Muslim communities in light of an immigration ban by President Donald Trump.

The rally, scheduled for 6 pm. at the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza, is in response to an order that put a halt on the processing of Syrian refugees and barred immigration from seven countries.

Judge allows travelers who landed with visas to stay in country

A federal judge in Brooklyn, New York issued an emergency stay on Saturday that temporarily blocks the U.S. government from sending people out of the country after they have landed at a U.S. airport with valid visas.

The American Civil Liberties Union estimates the stay will affect 100 to 200 people detained at U.S. airports or in transit, but government lawyers could not confirm that number.

The ruling by Judge Ann Donnelly of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York came during a hearing called after President Donald Trump issued an executive order blocking people from seven Muslim-majority from entering the United States and putting a temporary halt to refugee admissions.

The benefit to the US depends on who the immigrant is.

If the immigrant is talented and productive, then clearly their presence benefits the US. Ask Google about bringing in foreign talent, they know a little about HR. Or ask a low margin small business owner who needs low skill manual laborers (ie jobs that the typical American won't do).

You make Americans sound as if they are refusing work or are not smart enough to do the job. From manual labor, to ball players, to computer techs, to doctors, just to name a few. Perhaps we should put an official moratorium on foreign staff so only Americans need apply first. Would you choose over your family for someone on the outside ?

STOP the stupid behavior. On this particular case, that information would not do you ANY good. The man who contracted the measles is now recovering, he is not a criminal on the loose with the authorities looking for him. What you should be concerned about is whether or not you visited of the places mentioned in the article during the time frames specified.

Also, this should serve as a reminder to people about the importance of vaccinations. We are starting to see outbreaks of diseases that had long been controlled or eradicated, and as long as people such as the anti-vaxxer nuts continue to oppose inoculation using bad science to support their viewpoints, we are all at risk.

Not only is a description a valuable tool but who he his would also benefit in the quest to quell the spread of this disease. Also what I forgot to ask is what was the country abroad that he has visited ? Knowing this would help to avoid the culture of this country in our local communities till this high alert has subsided.

Riiight. All those guys riding bikes on the sidewalk were engineers and teachers back home in Mexico? Paid in cash pays taxes how? Living in illegal apartments that don't pay more in taxes, as their kids get over $20K/year in free education, school lunches, after school programs, ESL costs . . . who get sick and use the emergency room as their primary doctor, which means we pay more in our premiums to cover it?

Bingo Monroe ! And I almost got clipped by many of "them" while crossing the threshold exiting stores on Central Ave. When I tried to say something they respond by silence or a smile...and I use a bicycle as well.

I hope he discusses his vision for potholes and resurfacing the asphalt out there. It would be nice to smooth out the edges after they fill the potholes so they don't act as pseudo speed bumps even if they don't tamp them down at least it will be easier to bike over them. Also where clusters of potholes are it would be nice to have a portion of the street resurfaced.

When I say they're not high for our area, you burble, say nonsense, repeat yourself at the first opportunity, and then wonder why people think you're disingenuous and/or a fool.

Wrong on so many levels Brewster. So you are stating that taxes are low due to the market value of your area based on your income ?
