Because Comcast should be executed on Sunday.

Because I have a phone with internet that is not comcast

Quote:

How much of a credit are you getting?

I don't know, I haven't called them yet. But since Comcast has started capping internet, and because they are running ads on the television guide menu, and because Comcast throttles internet service, and for plenty more reasons, I'll take every nickle I can get from Comcast. And I'd encourage everyone else out there to do the same until they are bankrupt and liquidating their assets.

It does seems like a waste, unless they are more energy efficient. Somehow I doubt that.

And the PA announcements: I'm a morning person unless I had the misfortune of hearing the PATH PA annoucement. I don't know which is worse the male or female one. I read during my commute, so the annoucements are like an unwarranted slap in the face. Why must it be so loud?! It kills me!

Montgomery Gardens man acquitted of murder leads cops New Jersey Turnpike chase

Charge: Leading cops on chase

Saturday, February 28, 2009
By MICHAELANGELO CONTE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

A Jersey City man who was acquitted of murder last year is back behind bars after allegedly leading police on a car chase onto the New Jersey Turnpike, officials said.

Jalil Spears, 22, of the Montgomery Gardens housing complex, was arrested at 7:54 p.m. on Thursday at Bergen and Bramhall avenues and charged with eluding police in a motor vehicle pursuit, reports said.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said that earlier in the week police officers tried to pull over Spears on a motor vehicle matter, but Spears drove away when they activated their flashing lights. He increased his speed and the officers pursued him onto the Turnpike Extension, where the chase was called off, DeFazio said.

But officers said they recognized Spears from his prior run-ins with the law and a warrant for his arrest was issued for eluding cops, DeFazio said.

On Thursday, during roll call at the West District Police Station, officers were told to keep their eyes open for Spears and they were given a description, leading to his arrest that night, reports said.

Spears was charged with felony murder in the death of Antwon Hill, 19, of Jersey City, who was fatally shot during a robbery attempt on Oct. 20, 2007, near the Montgomery Shopping Plaza, DeFazio said. On Oct. 9 last year, a jury acquitted Spears after deliberating less than an hour.

Spears made his first appearance on the eluding charge in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City yesterday. His bail was set at $75,000 cash or bond and he was being held in the Hudson County jail in Kearny last night, officials said.

3 at MVC arrested in license sales

Jersey Journal
February 28, 2009

Three Motor Vehicle Commission workers in Hudson County, including a Union City woman and her daughter, are charged with selling driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, the state Attorney General's Office said Thursday.

State Criminal Justice Director Deborah L. Gramiccioni said the three MVC clerks - two in Jersey City and one in North Bergen - were arrested Wednesday afternoon. The three were caught, authorities, said, when a detective posed as an undocumented immigrant and was allowed to obtain a driver's license.

Sonia Noel, 45, of Union City, a clerk at the Jersey City Motor Vehicle Commission office, is charged with two counts of official misconduct, two counts of accepting or receiving a benefit by a public servant for official behavior, and two counts of tampering with public records.

Her daughter, Melody Noel, 24, also a clerk at the Jersey City MVC office, is charged with one count of official misconduct and one count of tampering with public records.

Christian Toledo, 30, of North Bergen, a clerk at the North Bergen MVC office, is charged with one count of official misconduct, one count of accepting or receiving a benefit by a public servant for official behavior, and one count of tampering with public records.

"The sale of official documents to unauthorized persons is a serious crime with the potential to compromise public safety and security," Attorney General Anne Milgram said in a statement. "False identifications can readily be used to commit other crimes."

The three allegedly issued driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants and an undercover detective posing as an undocumented immigrant.

The buyers paid several thousand dollars for each license and were not required to provide the MVC with the required identification documents to demonstrate their legal authority to obtain a license, officials said.

Other individuals acted as brokers, arranging for the purchases and sharing the money, officials said.

Vargas was acting suspiciously, glancing at the patrol car and the guardrail along the road, reports said.

When police drove past the spot the teen was looking at they saw a paintball gun and a bag of red paintball pellets, reports said.

At this point, Vargas walked over and told police he was in a paintball game with about 15 other students and the paintball equipment belonged to him, reports said.

Police then arrested Vargas for possession of a weapon, reports said.

Board of Ed contenders - AND voters now get to vote on the budget paid by local taxes!

City Board of Education contenders announced

Tuesday, March 03, 2009
RON ZEITLINGER
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

The snow may have closed the schools in the area yesterday, but Board of Education officials in several municipalities were in their offices to accept petitions on the last day to file to run in next month's school board elections.

In Jersey City, 13 people have filed to run for the three seats up for grabs, including incumbents Anthony Cucci and board president William DeRosa. Vice President Edward Cheatam decided not to run.

Other candidates seeking three-year terms are Evans Burke, Sean Connors, Khaled Dardir, Eric J. Goldsmith, Mario Gonzalez, Charles W. Johnson, Abdul J. Malik, Azam A. Riaz, Moshe Rozenblit, Patricia Sebron and Tom Wilen.

School board elections throughout the state are April 21.

And for the first time in 20 years, voters in Jersey City will have the opportunity to vote on the portion of the school district budget raised from local taxes. This is a result of the district's return to local control last year.

In Hoboken, seven people have filed petitions to run in the school board elections, board Secretary David Anthony said yesterday.

There are a trio of three-year seats up for election, with incumbents Frank Raia and Theresa Minutillo looking to retain their seats. The third seat became vacant when Anthony Romano was elected freeholder in November.

Besides Raia and Minutillo, the candidates are Anthony Oland, Barbara Claveria, Hector Irizarry, Ruth McAllister and Maureen Sullivan.

The three school board seats in both Jersey City and Hoboken will go to the top three vote-getters.

I do not know how much you're asking for that unit. I imagine larger units are more expensive and warrant occupancy by perhaps a family. A part of the reason why it may remain vacant could be the time of the year in conjunction with a sense of uncertainty in job stability. But keep in mind one bedroom apartments in Manhattan are still at the $2,500 a month range.

Stakeout produces heroin, guns: cops

Tuesday, March 03, 2009
By TOM SHORTELL
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

A drug bust in Jersey City's West Side led to the seizure of more than $35,000 worth of heroin and nearly $10,000 in cash Sunday, according to city officials.

Police set up surveillance in a known drug area around Clendenny and West Side avenues at 10 a.m. Sunday, reports said.

At 11:20 a.m., police saw Edward "Do Do Bug" Burns hand Heath "Skeeter" Ford a white, brick-shaped object in return for cash, reports said.

At that point, police swooped in and arrested the two men.

Burns, 39, of Clendenny Avenue, was found with $208, mostly in $10, $5 and $1 bills, reports said. Ford, 42, of Martin Luther King Drive, was found with a brick of suspected heroin wrapped in white coupon paper, reports said.

After lying to police about his address, Burns eventually handed over the keys to his apartment and confessed he had more heroin and a .25-caliber handgun there, reports said.

A search of the apartment, executed at 2:39 p.m., turned up 3,554 glassine bags of suspected heroin, each with a street value of $10, officials said.

Police also found the handgun, a 12-gage shotgun, ammunition, a bulletproof vest, and $9,716 in a safe, officials said.

Burns and Ford were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of a CDS near a school, reports said. Burns was also charged with four different weapons charges, officials said.

"It was a tremendous job by the street crimes unit for interrupting this elicit, illegal drug enterprise," said Jersey City Police Chief Tom Comey.

NAME & ARRESTS Cops ID victim charge 8 teens

Tuesday, March 03, 2009
By TOM SHORTELL
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

Jersey City police have arrested eight teenagers for Tuesday night's brick attack that sent a 26-year-old Jersey City man to the hospital in a coma.

Police have identified the victim, but wouldn't release his name yesterday.

The teenagers, all boys from Jersey City ranging from ages 13 to 17, have been charged with aggravated assault, robbery and various weapon charges, police said.

Tips led to the arrests that took place between Friday and Sunday night, officials said. The teenagers have been remanded to the Secaucus Youth Facility, police said. At least one of the teens has a prior record, police said.

Police said the eight teenagers attacked the victim as part of a robbery at Cornelison and Florence avenues Tuesday at 8:06 p.m.

When the victim resisted, the teens struck him in the head with a brick, sending him into a coma, police said of a witness's account.

The victim's identity has not been released because police have not been able to contact the family.

The man has not regained consciousness and remains in serious condition, police said.

The boyfriend began to drive away when the man outside opened fire, shattering the driver's side window and the rear windshield, reports said.

There does seem to be a lot of "For Rent" signs downtown JC. A One of my tenants moved out because she lost her job. However, filling the vacancy was not a problem. It seems there are quite a few folks from Manhattan and Hoboken looking to reduce their rental costs by moving to JC. I suppose its a consequence of a year of weak bonus in conjunction with a greater interest in saving money for the impending rainy day. There were a lot of people expressing interest in the apartment offering that explanation.

With all due respect, the City should NOT investigate itself. We need an independent investigation from outside of the City agencies. An outside audit is the only way this can truthfully be tracked and remediated.

Animal Control is part of the Health Dept run by Joe Castagna.

You need to go above animal control, which dept oversees that unit? This is not just bad service, it is criminal and illegal. All those workers need to have legal action brought against them, and at the minimum fired. Have you tried to contact the hudson count prosecutors' office.

You guys have an excellent case, the OP boyfriend has the picture of the van, the neighbor has the exact details as an eyewitness.

Sweets,

I understand the frustrations and I feel the same way. In this matter there are procedures that must be followed. Both in private and public sector they must follow HR policies, Dept of Labor Laws and possibly Union laws when it comes to an employee. In this case, the city must do an investigation which can lead to hearings, and possible charges against the employee.. The results of the prior steps are what leads to the disciplinary actions. Expediting is fine, but I do not want to see any i not dotted and any t not crossed that may let a guilty party off the hook especially if and when the guy(s) who did this lawyer up.

There is a personnel issue which the city has to deal with and there are also issues in this case that may involve violations of State laws and the NJSPCA (New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). These are all investigated by each individual agency and it may take some time.

City Council President Mariano Vega and Councilman Fulop are both fully involved and I do know the City Council President has formally called for a full investigation. I have very little doubt anyone is going to let this fall between the cracks.
