I'm not a racist, but I am discriminating.
Best subs are at Marrow Deli on Jersey Ave near C.Columbus. Even if you disagree, you're only out ~$4 for the sandwich.

Director Louis Caldera needs to be informed about the wonders of Photoshop if the FAA needed a pretty picture for some brochures, power point presentations, and websites.
More cost effective and less traumatic.

i agree, that sounds like a bunch of bs. So no candidate really has an actual plan to deal with the high property taxes?
High property tax and crime are the two biggest problems in jersey city that directly impact everyone who lives here i think. Oh well...

So all we will get after this is a lame apology. At the least the person who told the local officials to not pass on the information about this ridiculous stunt should be fired. If a private company had done the same thing they would be prosecuted under the NJ "terrorist threat" law. Yet people accept things from people in the government (with nothing except someone claiming to accept "full responsibility"; but, as always, paying no price for what they did) that would result in criminal prosecution if the very same thing had been done by non-government people. Sad.

I didn't say it was an event that the government knew nothing about. I asked you how you are so sure it is some sort of cover up and what "the truth" you speak of actually is. Don't assume you know what my intent is in asking. I am genuinely curious because I think what happened today is completely crazy and you seemed to have a pretty strong point of view about it, which I was hoping was based on some facts I had yet to read elsewhere. I also asked how you are so certain that nothing like this could ever have happened under the previous administration (like, say, until-recently otherwise secret torture policies, for example). Unfortunately, you couldn't accurately answer either of the questions, which is enough of an answer in and of itself.

This could not and has not happened to "Bush folks". I don't buy for a min that Obama did not know about this. In a way, it's his plane, if someone took your car, don't you want to know what they are doing with it? As far a "truth", the truth his Obama wants to show off possible mistakes of other people and administrations but wont recognize his own. Apparently, the government officials in NY (state level) were told and so were local police (which might be why someone here mentioned that a police officer knew right away). But the police was told not to say a word to the public about this until after it happens. Genius. Whatever happened to transparent government? "but how does this reflect so poorly on the current administration in a way that could not have just as easily happened with the Bush folks?" Quit trying to make this seem like an event that our government knew nothing about. It could not have just as easily happened. It's not like the President and the rest of the White House are on different teams. If this was a non-government operation, then it could have just as easily happened, but this was all government run. I_heart_JC: well, let me ask you this. Has it happened under President Bush?

JC's Animal Control and all these guys are just incompetent. You know... in WW2... German Officers said they "Were just following orders". They got hanged in the gallows... following orders was NO EXCUSE. And now OUR OWN public officials are saying they are just following orders.... Established in the 1970's? Come on. Please... TIME TO FIRE THESE FOLKS.... No more following blind, STUPID and out dated orders FG

Most likely what just happened was a "waffling" of the tectonic plate which ends in the area of the Meadowlands out by Route 3. For eons this remnant of a major glacial movement that was born from a primordial swamp, the largest home for mastodons and the like in the world has bumped about due to a "gassing" effect still happening today. It's kind of like your stomach settling after a big meal. Nothing to worry about but expect more in the future.

Tremors happen around here - although rare.
I remember this one in 2001 http://www.seismo-watch.com/EQS/AB/20 ... 7.NY2.6/011027.NY2.6.html It sounded more like a big bomb though (and it was right after 9/11 so it freeked me out at the time badly)

Excuse me for being suspicious but I don't buy this for one min.
My office building knew nothing about this and everyone didn't know what was going on. Nobody in the building knew this was scheduled and people began to evacuate on their own just to be safe. (This is why you saw so many people on Grove St.) I think the Obama admin is really stupid for this. I guarantee this would never have happened under President Bush. Even if some people were notified, the proper people were not and if the Port Authority does not know, that is REALLY, REALLY BAD. Just goes to show what the truth is. And even if it was "scheduled" and was a "photo-op" what idiot came up with an idea like that? Show Air Force One and a military plane over JC right before it crashes and destroys the city and kills people? I don't care how good of a pilot you are, flying that close to buildings should never happen.

"I was merely commenting that their schtick is getting old to me"
you were either destined to love it or hate it, it would seem. "I'll let Abe and others worship at the altar of Tacqueria" hiyo. I worship at the alter of value for dollar and quality product... service takes a back seat within reason, not that I have a problem with the service at this particular spot. "And on a side note: amusing != hilarious." really? amusing: pleasantly entertaining or diverting: hilarious: arousing great merriment; extremely funny in any case, I think this summed it up perfectly: "It's a similar concept to fast food. Walk up to the counter, order food, sit down and wait for it" thanks for the diversion folks!

Why did Corzine withhold DEP report?
April 23, 2009 ? 6:55 am By Bob Ingle http://blogs.app.com/politicspatrol/2009/04/23/3631/ Lisa Jackson A new NJ Department of Environmental Protection report says our state?s standards are more than 200 times laxer for chromium in the soil than needed to protect health. Chromium in soil is associated with cancer. But hold your cheers for the DEP. The report was finished April 8. The Washington-based Public Employees for Environmental Protection said ?The new risk assessment came to light because of a state public records request filed by Zoe Kelman, a former NJDEP chemical engineer, who resigned in disgust after her warnings about chromium migrating off completed sites and likely coming into direct contact with residents and workers were ignored.? It continues: ?Last week, NJDEP closed public comment on a controversial chromium cleanup settlement for Jersey City sites owned by PPG Industries. This new risk assessment was completed on April 8th but was not given to the community and was released to Ms. Kelman after the April 15th comment deadline passed.? PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch, ?This assessment validates the alarms sounded by Zoe Kelman. Yet, despite repeated wake-up calls on chromium dangers, New Jersey continues on snooze control.? Kelman said she was removed from chromium-related issues and denied meaningful work by then-DEP Commissioner Lisa Jackson after she voiced concerns. Jackson now heads the federal EPA. New Jersey sites are contaminated because of old industrial operations. Hexavalent chromium is the substance against which Erin Brockovich campaigned in California. In 2003, former Sen. Bob Torricelli was appointed by federal Judge Dennis M. Cavanaugh in Newark to oversee an environmental cleanup project in Jersey City. Torricelli is paid by Honeywell International to clean up a 34-acre site contaminated by chromium. The judge?s order also authorizes Torricelli to hire professional and technical personnel who also will be paid by Honeywell. The site was contaminated by a chemical plant that pumped waste into wetlands along the Hackensack River, which Honeywell must also clean.

Sorry Abe, but I wouldn't call my comments "taking offense" at their smugness. They're entitled to behave any way they like, I was merely commenting that their schtick is getting old to me (and it would appear others as well). AlanWright hit the nail on the head with his response. But something tells me they aren't running that shop to maximize profits. Like I said, live and let live, they can do whatever they want. I'll let Abe and others worship at the altar of Tacqueria, the rest of us will spend money at places where our business is appreciated - I can tell from his responses (and i'm guessing from Tacqueria itself) that our business won't be missed! Everyone wins... And on a side note: amusing != hilarious.
