it is absolutely sickening to deal with the jcpa zoombies.

well, people seems to be a very generous statement of these creepy subhumaniods enforcing poorly written rules.

if they only passed a simple iq test. it is a bitch to deal with the deep left tail of humankind's normal distribution.

If your policy covers full glass replacement call your insurance company.

My policy did not and I used Dublin Glass 201-433-4455 who offers mobile service (they come to you). A few years back it took them about 30 minutes to remove and replace my windshield and also used them when my car was broken into.

This is a very slippery slope.....i can agree on points from both sides of the arguement though. Also it will increase property values by adding legal units.

In response to someones post about turning 1 family house converted into 3 or 4 condos....can you give me an example? I have never heard of this....those are probably zoned 3 family homes being used as a 1 family and turned back into 3 separate condos. therefore it was a 3 family turned into 3 condos.

Good to hear that. I was told they had been released to the owner but I guess they meant "new owner". Good News.

Not too shy to talk

My father (born 1917) grew up in Jersey City -- and he was introduced to the Second Street Bakery by his father. In turn, my sister and I have been customers as well for more than 50 years. They never fail to please -- except on those days when we are running too late at lunch and the JC firefighters or police (who have voracious appetites for great Italian deli) have purchased nearly everything in the kitchen! BTW, if you are dieting, they also make an outstanding Italian salad!

I hit a pot hole and my rearview mirror fell off, taking a chunk out of my windshield. Anyone know of a good place where they replace auto glass?

Re: Greenville: Knocked out on the street, wallet is gone
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

I think it's all in the eye of the beholder. As a life long Greenville resident, it really does make the blood boil when those in charge tell you that everything is fine when your own eyes and ears tell you otherwise. And it's getting worse, not better. It's the feeling of disenfranchizement - as if we've been given up for lost - as if we don't even exist. And the hopeless feeling that comes with it - that nobody is even going to TRY to do anything about it because their heads are buried in the sand like an ostrich.

I haven't got the guts to take the beatings that icechute takes on here, but to tell the truth, I'm with him/her 100% and I think the same exact thing every time I see a crime story.

The leaders of Jersey City should be the leaders for the ENTIRE city, not just the convenient parts of it. I can go days without seeing a police car while dealers are on the corners doing business. Guess what... on the day I do see a patrol car... no dealers on the corners! Wow! It's like magic! I guess the patrols don't have time for those pesky little places with the highest rates of crime. I'll tell you - a little bit would go a long way... if they would bother to TRY.

I wish my biggest issues in life were lost kittens, hummis, taquerias and cupcakes. Unfortunately, in parts of Greenville, there are much bigger fish to fry. Maybe I'm just jealous that I pay high property taxes for low services. I'd be willing to pay even higher property taxes and stay here if it would mean better living conditions, but the way it is, it's probably just better to leave.

And don't give me the old "Why don't YOU do something about it" line, either. I have tried in the past. I lost. The machine is powerful. And that just adds to the frustration.

Its those apartments that keep the banks at bay and foreclosures - Healy goes after them now, his life will be hell and any future political ambition will be kissed away - Timing is everything!

It would appear we do more for our city dogs then our city kids !

Transportation, west coast, finding an appropriate owner - sounds like they're going to a holiday resort for dogs !

Thank you for posting this and your information is correct.
The dogs were not released to the original owner and were picked up at LHS by a special pet transportation company and are en route to the new owners. They are no longer within the state and the final destination is the West Coast.

They do have a menu...just ask them for one (if it isn't sitting on the counter). Call in advance and drop by to pick your food up (takes like 15mins). Good way to avoid the people lined up out the door every day at lunch.

Awesome place.

Any recommendations for an oil change?
Newbie
Newbie

I know this sounds really simple, but I haven't really found a good place to go. The old Jiffy Lube on 440 was great but they closed.

I started going to the Flores Car Wash place on Rt 440 / US1 & Sip Ave but they are always trying to sell you an engine flush / transmission flush or something and it gets annoying.

Does anyone have a place they'd recommend for a quick, cheap oil change?

Thanks in advance.

Grovepath,

Addressing this to you because your encouragement to support the Jersey Journal and posting of JJ articles leads me to believe that you work for JJ.

The recent Abbott ruling is one of the most important court decisions in NJ, is historic and will send shockwaves though many municipalities, including Jersey City and other Hudson County locales.

Shouldn't an article on this be in today's JJ, front page to inform JJ readers?

You fail to make the distinction between safety code and social engineering zoning. If a basement apt can be brought up to safety code, and only violate the density code, there's at least an argument to be made.

IMO, way too much of this town was made R1, a nearly suburban code. On my block there's 4 to 10 family buildings, with McNair towering over all, but the R1 restricts new infill construction to 2 families no taller than 35 ft and not sharing a wall with the neighbor, like every other older house on the block. This is simply trying to engineer the flavor of the street away from what it once was, and were it a historical block, would never be allowed.

The brasciole is a winner! My wife and I usually order a platter with extra quarts of sauce. We portion it into quart-size containers and freeze it - usually lasts us a month or two. Whenever the urge hits, we defrost a quart to have over rigatoni ? la dolce vita!

As a matter of fact, we?re having it tonight with a chianti and nero d?avola.

I heart Second Street Bakery

This place is worth finding - they close by 3. Be prepared to wait in line a few minutes. Today I got:

A quart of chicken meatball soup - with bread (better than mom's)

A small (huge) roast port sandwich with cheese, sweet onions and spicy sauce (enough for 2 people)

A small loaf of cinnamon bread (or a really big roll) loaded with cinnamon but not too sweet

2 bottles of coke

total - just under $15.

Breakfast egg sandwiches with pepperoni or spicy sausage are gigantic and delicious.

Has anybody tried their hot dishes?

Paulus Hook Park - the four corners of Washington and Grand.

Colgate Center Park - next to Essex Street light rail stop between Clermont Cove and Liberty Terrace.

Liberty State Park - Includes the patch of land between Morris Canal Little and Big Basins, south of Sugar House and Liberty Terrace. This is where I think the OP is referring to.

Pentecost Sunday at Holy Rosary Church will once again feature Hadyn's Little Organ Mass with strings at the 10:00 am Latin Mass. This is considered one of the most litugical of Hadyn's masses and the Benedictus is particularly famous. The music program will also include a Prelude by the organ on Barber's Adadio of Strings, and the communion motet, Esultate Justi by the baroque master Viadana.

The OP is referring to Peninsula Park which is at the end of Washington across from Portside.

The ghetto playground has a sign that calls it "Paulus Hook Park" but I think it is now referred to as Colgate Park.
