Re: Does anybody know a good lawyer? I'm going to sue Chase bank

Supposedly, the FICO formula takes into account that people may shop around for mortgages, therefore generating multiple inquires, and takes this into account when calculating your score, so as not to harm your rating.

If you engage in business with behemoths like Chase and BofA, then you deserve whatever misery befalls you.

There are dozens of options better suited for us Joe Schmoes. Regionals (Valley National, Provident), credit unions (for a small donation to a military family support group you can join the Pentagon Credit Union), and online banks (ING Direct.)

A lot of people actually drive to and work in Jersey City. Many also park downtown and take a ferry or the Path into the city. I doubt a lot of people are getting off before 14C and driving through downtown as an alternate entrance to the tunnel to save time or 30 cents.

Lump sum. Put it in high grade munis and corporates, as well as blue chip dividend payers. Live off the income.

Thank you for correcting my English, which stinks.

Any thoughts on the Oxford (or serial) comma?

Example (and keeping with the thread topic):

I have enjoyed going to Skinner's, Barcade, and LITM.

The Oxford comma is the one before "and."

Check out Provident Bank. They are all over Jersey City, including Journal Square. They pay over 2% interest on checking and refund all ATM fees, provided you get direct deposit and use your ATM card as a credit card 10 times in a month.

I wish these grotesque creatures would go back to where they came from. Their presence gives Jersey City a bad image. I hope that local businesses refuse to serve the slimy things and that they just go away.

On a more serious note, some of the places you should check out in addition to Lucky 7's include White Star, The Iron Monkey, The Merchant, Bar Majestic, O'Connell's, and The Light Horse. These are all Jersey City institutions which have been around a while and they all serve food as well. None give off an unwelcoming vibe, IMHO.

Start the night at Hollywood Chicken on Newark. It's great because it's byob. The best chicken in town.

Afterward, go up the road to Jordans on Newark, hopping any night after 10 for some live music, comedy, or just good drinking.

Then roll on over to Indio's on 1st for some pool and coronas.

Maybe stop at the Barge Inn on Monmouth and 3rd after that for some local flavor.

And by the time you get to Guillos Place on 6th and Coles to blast the jukebox and hit on the ladies, the night will be a blur.

Hey, that's my Tuesday routine.

Great point. We're not even dealing with the entire bone-headed cast, it's just two of them, and they're the most popular.

I didn't even know that Jersey City had a reputation that could be tarnished. Our city is not like Seaside Heights or even Hoboken for that matter. We don't have a big club scene or juiced up meat-heads walking around so why would this ruin our reputation? Won't they be interacting with people from the area? Hopefully, viewers will see what JC has to offer and will realize that not all "Jersey" is the same.

Wow. Like minds.

Re: 'Jersey Shore' Spin-Off in Jersey City

And what kind of reputation does Jersey City have that could destroyed? It has no real reputation. Even most New Jerseyans only know two things about Jersey City - that the mayor likes to drink and that a lot of the officials got arrested a few years ago. I don't see too many online petitions against that. If you have any kind of confidence or pride in this city, then you will know that it will hold its own on camera regardless of what the cast might do.

Besides, the show is supposed to be about them making it on their own as opposed to just drinking and tanning. If this means showing them attempting to cross Columbus without getting killed or dealing with Path delays or trying to get service with a smile at Taqueria, then we should empathize and not criticize.

Let's also have those legal pot shops in CA - good for business.
What else is good for business that is depraved, dirty, and considered the dregs of society? Let's show them how "friendly" we are.

There is a reason the Hoboken mayor denied them permits. It's because she knew the short term gain - boost in income in whatever restaurants they visit - will not outweigh the long term negative aspect of this...

Just think to yourself - When you think of a clean family beach to go to, how many beaches pop into your mind before Seaside Heights? Yeah..I thought so. Use your brains for a second...

Re: Fulton's Landing Condo Opinions?
Home away from home
Home away from home

I rented there for a year and a half. The units are about on par with a nice rental building. The fixtures, floors, cabinets, doors, etc. are not top of the line quality, but decent. The heating and AC is via electric through-the-wall units, which can run up your bill. The amenities are lacking, which can be an advantage since most things like pools and club rooms only become underutilized money drains. There is a small gym and a courtyard. Most units have views of the landscaped courtyard, but some can see the marina nearby. Some units face Essex Street and the light rail. Others have a brick wall for a view. It is a sleepy little corner of Paulus Hook. You may actually find a better bargain for your money here than some of the more notable buildings in the area.

As for the roof and windows, I never heard about any problems with the roof. I would think the roof would only be an issue for those living in the top level. But it is possible that any repairs would come from the building's general fund. I remember looking at a couple of those units and the windows in the ceiling made them feel like terrariums. The windows in my unit were heavy and sealed tight when closed.
