Male Actor (30-50) Needed for College Film Project
Home away from home
Home away from home

(I'm helping a promising young filmmaker I know from Saint Peter's University - This is a really interesting project as I've seen the initial work and script). Feel free to pass it along with my thanks.

County Films is seeking an experienced male actor between the ages of 30 to 50, to portray a cynical high school principal in a pilot television series which is part of a college honors project. We're seeking an individual who is reliable, has some film experience, and can accurately portray a beleaguered education administrator.

One day (maybe two) commitment in December is necessary. Please send a headshot with resume to Reyhan@CountyFilms.com.

The Jersey Journal

JERSEY CITY ? The Fulop administration is backing off its planned relocation of the Katyn monument in an effort to halt an expected delay in a new payroll tax, according to an email obtained by The Jersey Journal.

Mayor Steve Fulop sent council members an email on Tuesday telling them his administration would ask them to introduce an ordinance Wednesday that would rescind its June 13 ordinance that authorized moving the monument from Exchange Place to York Street.

Fulop and his council allies had previously made the decision to let voters decide via a Dec. 11 referendum whether to approve the planned relocation, but the mayor told council members in his email he's worried that the same petition drive used to try to reverse the council's Katyn ordinance would be used to stop implementation of the payroll tax, a 1 percent business tax intended to help fund the local school district.

Not to diminish the prosecutor's contribution to this abomination, but she gets her marching orders from the top. There is a chain of command - and she's not near the top. She's a convenient fall-gal, but she ain't your "man." There were a lot of people involved in this - and Ms. Brennan just blew the whistle on the whole gang. Good for her. Her courage is extraordinary as she knows the landscape very, very well. She's the victim twice - and I hope she gets her full, due justice at the end of the day.

In Hudson County, a prosecutor under fire.

Excerpt of interest;

"The sheer number of reported rapes in Hudson County is high, second in New Jersey only to Essex County. There were 169 reported rapes here in 2017, up from 136 the year before, according New Jersey State Police statistics.

JC Woman Accuses Murphy Staffer of Rape

(I'm surprised this isn't being talked about here more. This is really an outrage - classic Hudson County/NJ politics at its worst. Very, very brave of Ms. Brennan to expose this as she has.)

By Brent Johnson and Susan K. Livio
NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

The woman who accused a senior staffer in Gov. Phil Murphy's administration of sexually assaulting her while he worked for Murphy's campaign last year is a state official who says she is now telling her story because she has "received no justice."

Katie Brennan, who later volunteered for the campaign and is now the chief of staff at the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, detailed her allegations against Albert J. Alvarez publicly for the first time in a story published by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday afternoon.

After the report was published Sunday afternoon, Brennan said in a statement: "On April 8th, 2017, Al Alvarez raped me. On April 9th, 2017 I learned that the system is broken."

Brennan, 31, of Jersey City, said she went to the hospital and reported the alleged assault to law enforcement officials the next day, but the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office declined to prosecute.

Here's what you should do it if you know someone abused by a Catholic priest in N.J.

Posted on September 23, 2018 8:00 AM | Updated September 21, 2018 6:43 PM

By Kelly Heyboer | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

If you are a victim of clergy sexual abuse in New Jersey ? or know someone who was abused ? state investigators say they are ready to listen.

The state Attorney General?s office set up a hotline earlier this month for anyone to report cases of sexual abuse by clergy members. The hotline is the first step in an investigation into how the Catholic Church in New Jersey handled abuse allegations in the wake of a similar probe by a grand jury in Pennsylvania that uncovered abuse cases involving 300 priests.

New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said Wednesday the new hotline has been ?ringing off the hook.?

JERSEY CITY -- The teen who was shot dead Tuesday evening was in the wrong place at the wrong time, a family friend told The Jersey Journal Wednesday morning.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office confirmed the identity of the victim as Jayden Fondeur, a 17-year-old junior at Ferris High School. A man who identified himself as a close family friend, who asked not to be identified, said the Fondeur family said Jayden was the victim of a drive-by shooting.

Victims of priest sexual abuse who signed confidentiality agreements with Catholic dioceses in New Jersey are free to ignore those deals and speak publicly about their experiences, church officials said in a statement Tuesday.

The announcement means all victims who reached financial settlements with the Catholic Church in New Jersey can call a new hotline established by the state Attorney General's office earlier this month to speak to investigators gathering evidence of clergy sexual abuse in the church.

Without the "benefit" of a Roman Catholic upbringing, particularly in ethnically traditional parishes where God's law is paramount and the salvation of your eternal soul is one's only focus, it will be difficult for the "regular guy" to fully understand how profound and omnipotent the church's power was/is in the day-to-day life of a pious parishioner.

You just didn't talk about scandal anyway, much less anything that was going on in the church. You'd never be believed - not by your parish leaders, not by your elders, not by the police, et al. Priests in my day held the ultimate power and judgment in one's life - particularly in our blue collar neighborhood. They could, and did, get away with everything. That's pretty heady stuff that gets passed down, priestly generation to priestly generation.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely - and here we are in 2018.

The numbers of victims (children, adolescents, men, women, fellow priests/nuns) are ridiculously under-reported. This has been going on forever.

Funny, my little guy and I were just studying the history of the system of Catholic pardons/indulgences and how that catapulted reformation efforts centuries ago.

It's time for a new kind of reformation.

It goes back further than the panhandling.

Jersey City man charged with selling heroin to man with 46 prior arrests

If Mr. Bradford had been institutionalized for his mental illness/addiction - as his long arrest record perhaps indicates - he may have still been here.

We blow our horns about criminal justice reform, but we wear full blindfolds about the necessary reforms in the treatment of the mental illness that leads to criminality. As a society, we have to admit that closing long-term mental hospitals and prohibiting caregivers from committing family members who needed and refused help, was a mistake (well intended to fight the abuses, but a mistake nonetheless). We need more treatment facilities for addiction and we cannot let folks out after 30 days expecting them to be cured.

During his homily at his first morning Mass at Santa Marta since the summer break, Pope Francis recommended ?silence and prayer? when one is confronted ?with people lacking good will, with people who only seek scandal, who seek only division, who seek only destruction, even within the family: silence, prayer.?

?The truth is meek. The truth is silent. The truth is not noisy," Pope Francis said in his homily.
