They're all time bombs waiting to go off.

Saw the whole thing go down. What a tool. You would think being that your mom works for the government, she would have taught you some class. Nope, you're just like the rest of the worthless riff raff around this city. Except your benz was bought with tax payers' money as opposed to some junkie's last dollar bill.

The acoustics are just horrible in the city council chamber. Not that this has anything to do with the main reason why most people went, but did anyone catch what the second woman to speak was complaining about? Something about senior citizens, vouchers, farmers markets and out-of-towners. Sounded nutty but intriguing....

From what I understood, the senior citizens in other municipalities get their vouchers quicker then those in JC. She was complaining that by the time JC seniors get their vouchers, the summertime farmers market is over. I don't think it was the acoustics as much as the woman not speaking clearly.

Tell everyone you know. Take the morning off, if you can. If you aren't working tomorrow, please make every effort to be there.

I'm sure that as the knife was coming at the officer's head, he was thinking "I'm going to shoot this crazy broad...in retaliation". Of course all kinds of relatives are going to come forward now to cry about police injustice.

Live in the area. Just went outside to park my car on the other side of the street. Forgot to roll up my windows yesterday. Nothing was touched and GPS is still inside. Pretty cool.

No, Lucky 7's is on Coles St. Between 2nd and 3rd. The crowd at the barge is actually more quiet. The barge is mostly frequented by oldtimers vs. Lucky's by younger "hipper" douchebags.

Yes, its definitely safer then JSQ. This area is in downtown. Plus it's one stop closer to the city. Although that particular block is a little iffy because of ONE house. I always see shady looking people hanging out on the porch of the mint green home. Don't know what number it is.

So this shows that Downtown and the Heights are really about as safe as Hoboken - however the other areas of JC on the other hand seem out of control... Now I'm sure someone will say that the Beacon area is really Downtown but I think most people feel that downtown really ends at the turnpike overpass...
LOL...Hoboken has no murders, and the Heights has one so far. If we are just talking about murders how do you get this shows it is as safe as Hoboken, when Downtown has four so far? Like I said in my other post the hit and run was accidentally put on the wrong corner of Grand and as much as the new residents hate to admit it Booker T is part of Downtown whether you want to consider it or not. So when counting murders your neighborhood is actually even with Greenville and Bergen-Lafayette so far this year. But in all fairness murders can go up in even the nicest suburb with almost no crime. They don't reflect overall crime.
Spoken like someone from greenville or bergen-lafayette.

One of my posts from a few days ago. Some reasons for staying in JC: Car alarms, packs of angry teens destroying everything in their path home from school, drunken bar patrons, the yellow air cloud above the pulaski skyway, jc government, montgomery projects, raggaeton being played outside my door at 9 am on a sunday morning, car horns that sound the entire "la cuckaracha" melody, c-town, alternate parking, 99 cent stores...marybarr.

I don't know if BK or Queens will be any different.

Political attack? Whatever motivated the timing and nature of the charges is beside the point. Mr. Vega et al. TOOK THE MONEY. No amount of martyrdom can change that fact. Healy was in the room and acknowledged the "mutually beneficial" nature of what was happening - he's admitted it. We shall see what that means, but I wouldn't exactly hold him up as clean here.

Gnome: you may come here to vent. I'll be at the council meeting.

Amen. It is a gift we've been given and it's an opportunity to step up and put words to action. It also could be a do-over, a chance to correct a horrible mistake that was made in May.

Back in May Mayor Healy was elected on the first ballot by a solid majority of the people that cared enough about Jersey City's future to actually vote. Unlike his two strongest competitors he hasn't been accused/indicted for any wrong doing.

Sorry to mess with the acoustics of this echo chamber but I think more people than you realize are going to be able to see through this political attack.

This online community of "open minded" individuals is going to crucify you for this one. YOu're totally right though, the people of Jersey City elected him. This is another reminder that although this forum is a great place to vent, it is definitely not a true representation of this city.

There are so many of these stories -- women and men can become co-dependent, which is like being addicted to a person. I think we all go through a phase. I am so glad I grew out of that and glad that HE wasn't dangerous because I believe I may have followed him. This reminds me too, of women who get arrested because their guy is dealing and the woman gets 25 years because she has no information to trade. The guy gets out in 2 - 5 - 7. What a tragedy Amanda didn't have a few more years to mature.

I wonder if you would be as accommodating and understanding if the officer who got shot was your husband. Stick to buying cheeses and sunflowers lady.

While A&P is a decent and clean super market it is in no way even in the same ballpark as Whole Foods. Someone said A&P's meat and fish sections are good??? Are you kidding me!
Anyway, downtown does need a good supermarket within walking distance. Leave C-town for those that think it is good enough and put in a Whole Foods! On Newark ave. in one of those 99cent spaces would be nice. OR , how about the old hardware store on Jersey btw. Columbus and Newark. That space is huge.
As for all those little produce marts along Newark... you're lucky if the food isn't spoiled by the time you walk it home.

Wegmans sells a HUGE variety of produce and most is jersey fresh, which means it's locally grown and supports the agriculture of our state. Besides that, their baked goods and prepared foods are amazing.
