Not very good. I'm surprised there hasn't been more news of citi bikers getting hit.

How can they when half of them ride them on the sidewalk like giant toddlers?

Why is everyone so surprised by this? If the city is commissioning you to paint in a public space they will have a say on the content. Why are any artists trusting these guys to display their work?? JC "culture" is just a bunch of thirsty individuals who are desperate for any publicity so they crawl up Fulop & Co's butthole and then act surprised when shit gets censored. Don't rely on the city for publicity because you're going to get used and look like a huge tool at the end of it.

+1

Why is it so hard for some people to grasp that if they aren't grown up enough to ride in the street then don't ride a bike?? There are so many jackasses riding on the sidewalk and it's not all delivery people just trying to be fast. So many clueless morons on citi bikes pedaling up Newark Ave using the sidewalk like its a legitimate bike lane.

The solicitors are definitely the worst part of the pedestrian plaza. And I hate the hello fresh people that stalk Tender Shoots.

while I think this mural is really wonderful, I have to say that it's become quite an impediment every single morning when I ride my bike on Newark to the PATH and it's blocked off. I'm forced to ride on the sidewalk, or walk my bike in the plaza. Often it's still blocked off when I come home at night. I realize these are small complaints, but given that we just had a post about people being upset that cyclists are biking on the sidewalk; well, this is one of the reasons.

I agree with another user on here; when are they going to stop repainting it? It seems like it's literally every morning these past two or three weeks that it's been blocked off.
you are not supposed to be riding your bike through a pedestrian zone

I don't think there should be bikes in the pedestrian plaza but they are technically allowed according to the signs posted.

It was an accident- why should he pay for the rescue?? also love how people think he should have just swam into the crazy current that broke the crappy dock in the first place. Everyone is SO BRAVE when they are behind a keyboard. His only chance at anyone finding him in dark water was with his cell phone- why would he kill his only means of communication??

Yes- because of random isolated incidents like this one we should totally just stop caring about actual victims of sexual assault and always assume they're lying. That should make it super welcoming for a person who just suffered a trauma and is already hesitant about reporting it because they feel like they can't emotionally handle the process. There's way more actual victims than liars and that's not even taking into account that most assaults don't get reported. Why am I feeding the right wing idiot troll????

Sure, "random isolated incidents."

Like the Duke Lacrosse "scandal." Or the UVA "gang rape," stemming from "Jackie" who made the whole thing up. In reality, women lie about these allegations all the time. The fact that one happened right in our backyard simply speaks to how common these false accusations are.

People with your kind of naive attitude, who believe in false narratives, have also led to the proliferation of kangaroo courts at universities, where many men get expelled on the mere allegation that a sexual assault occurred, many times without even being able to confront their accuser. Sometimes a woman has consensual sex, regrets it afterwards, and simply pretends it was "rape."

These kangaroo court proceedings have justifiably resulted in many lawsuits against these schools.

In fact, the truth is our culture celebrates "victim" status and you get story after story of women lying about being sexually assaulted so they can bask in the sympathy and attention. And people like you only make it worse.

Okay now pull your head out of your ass and go look at the number of reported assaults and rapes (again- most don't even go reported) and see with your own eyeballs where the real problem is. You are literally just spouting your own misogynistic views as fact like they have any value when they don't. What glory is there to be had as a victim of sexual assault? If you knew anything about the process of filing a report you would realize no one would possibley enjoy going through it.

I'm with you -- I am looking for a place that has some vegan choices without a lot of salt or oil -- anyone know any places Downtown, hoboken or in the Heights -- I go to Moe's in Edgewater sometimes. I miss Future/Taco King which would make things however you wanted. Cinco De Mayo on Central is just too salty and likely uses lard...

Huh!? Places like Chipotle and Moe's have succeeded in making customers believe they are buying "healthy" fast food by extolling their organic ingredients and ethically sourced meats, but in the end you are consuming inordinate amounts calories, just as many (or, more!) as if you were eating at McDonald's or Burger King. People just feel better about it because of their organic, non-gmo provenance.

Huh? Who are you even lecturing on this?? No one said anything about Chipotle being healthy or low calorie.

I agree. I can also tell you that the official city program has novices with no experience choosing the artists that create the murals. They were given patronage jobs.

It's the private collectives like Green Villain and Savage Habbit that are producing quality murals by selecting talented artists.

This doesn't surprise me seeing how a lot of them seem to be hit or miss- it explains a lot. Savage Habbit does good work- they also have a great Instagram account that allows you to see the murals they are doing in other cities and all of them are fantastic.

They need to give it a rest or be more selective. I hate trashing someone's art but when you put it on a building it kind of leaves me with no choice...this is hideous. Maybe it's a bad rendering? That building owner should be worried!

The problem with businesses failing around there isn't the fault of the streetscape- it's that people seem to constantly be opening really pointless stores that are always half art gallery half clothing and make zero sense from a business perspective. There is no need for half the places that open. I am constantly amazed by how poorly thought out every business model seems to be in the Village with very few exceptions (the restaurants are all pretty good).

Surprised people are liking this design. I think it looks hideous compared to the rest of the neighborhood. The people designing the building are going against everything they claim to "love" about this area. It's more affordable than the waterfront ...so we're going to add some more expensive condos and ruin it!

PromptMD in Hoboken is open on weekends. They don't take appointments but if you get there relatively early you should get seen fairly quickly. I've gone several times for urgent care as well as immunization verification and have no complaints. They are pretty close to the downtown JC/Hoboken border but they are supposed to be opening a downtown JC location soon if they haven't already.

TTP, you are correct, and what is it with these posters ? They must lose sleep wondering what 2 Boots is up to. These people have real problems other worrying about 2 Boots.

People complain about Two Boots because he lobbied the city to get the food trucks removed from Grove St Plaza so he could help his bottom line. At the expense of the public, who loved the food trucks.

And a bunch of other local businesses but because Two Boots was the only business owner to actually try to explain the reasoning to the deliberately obtuse posters on JCList they just harp on his business like it was just him. lol I'm sure their "boycott" of all those businesses really panned out and made a huge difference- that's why they keep up the bitching on here. It's their only outlet because in reality no one else gives a shit.

That is not entirely accurate. Aaron (owner of 2 Boots) was the ringleader with Drunk Jeff (owner of the Bistro) as his sidekick. Without Aaron this would NOT have happened and the residents of Jersey City would still have regular access to food trucks, as it is in every other modern city of comparable size.

In addition, I am friends with several business owners/GMs who signed that list and they all have stated that they now believe Aaron handled it incorrectly, aside from his rather poor reputation as a human being.

Regardless of how successful any boycott may be, none of the businesses on that list get any of my money. While I'm sure many of them will continue to do just fine, wait until the next recession hits.

yeah I'm sure the "boycott" will really be a huge factor in wether or not a business will make it through the next recession that you have no ETA for. Good plan.
