If you were able to vote today on whether or not to finish what was left undone by the Civil War and split the country up, would you?

I would. The divide is so deep and requisite-days-after-the-election unity rhetoric aside, it is only getting deeper. That isn't going to change. I don't want to live in the world of the other side and they don't like my world. (They like my tax dollars, but that's a different story...)

It doesn't have to be this way - once you strip away the foolish sentimentality and nice round numbers and really consider it objectively, I think many people (most?) would come to the conclusion we'd be better off going our separate ways.

http://www.yescalifornia.org/

I agree. I was also thinking about it. You can keep the coasts. I would make Texas the centerpoint of the Republican States of America, and include all the solidly red states. It would be much easier that way. I also understood why civil wars are so full of hatred and so bloody. If you fight some Germans in WWII, sure, you want to kill them to survive and win, but you don't really hate them that much because you don't really know them. In the case of civil wars, I daresay that the hatred is greater, because you know your enemy better.

I'd go for the split if it was at all feasible.

(CNN)Thousands of protesters targeted Trump buildings in New York and Chicago on Wednesday, chanting anti-Trump slogans as protests against President-elect Donald Trump popped up throughout the United States.

In Austin, Texas, protesters blocked a highway. Students burned a flag on the campus of American University in Washington, and they walked out of class in high schools and colleges across the country the day after the presidential election.

"Not my president, not today," was a chant heard at protests from Boston to Los Angeles.

In downtown Los Angeles, high school students crowded the steps of City Hall on Wednesday afternoon. Protester Brooklyn White was holding a sign that said "Hate won't win." The 18 year old voted for Hillary Clinton and was disappointed.

Yeah cause the President elect saying "Grab them by the pussy" is real f*cking classy.

I am reading more and more reports that it is impossible that all the polls were wrong. It is very likely that they were simply doctored by insiders who were sympathetic to Clinton. That is what Trump meant when he said RIGGED!

What an absolute joke. Is this also how Trump conducts his polling? By interviewing a few dozen people that he meets and concluding that he will win 100% of the vote?
.

Uhhhh... Yes that is how he did it! At least in Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and hopefully Michigan

I think they called Michigan for Trump.

Panic mode Level Hard.

Panic mode for what? She's winning this election in a walk right now. The polls tightened because they always tighten around election time. He didn't actually win anything and there is nothing indicating that he will win at all.

"She's winning this election in a walk"

It was this deep-seated, blind overconfidence by the Clinton boosters and supporters that did in the Hillary candidacy.

These are a lot of mental gymnastics to avoid acknowledging an obvious, simple truth: the RNC did not allow the personal opinions of its leaders to interfere with the will of its voters.

You're performing very few mental gymnastics to ignore that the vast majority of Republican leaders did exactly that, including refusing to support him, revoking support, not campaigning with him, not providing funding, and the RNC doing the absolute minimum.

I.e. It sure looks like they did as little as possible to help him, without utterly destroying their own party with a direct rejection. It was not a show of integrity, it was a craven decision as a direct result of their purpose -- maintaining political power for their party.

This is inherently undemocratic....

lol

For the second time in recent memory, a Democrat won the popular vote, and lost the electoral college. In this case, the Democrat lost to a candidate who has been screeching for months that the election is "rigged," yet is awfully silent about that since he won. Democracy, indeed....

Quote:
RNC emails that would show they hated Trump only makes my point stronger. You clearly are an intelligent man so I'm not sure why you are being so obtuse over this simple point.

You've GOT to be kidding. DNC staffers supporting Hillary were undemocratic and cost her the election, but if the RNC did the same for Trump's opponents then that's a sign of a healthy democratic system and organization integrity? Ludicrous.

Quote:
He's not beholden to special interests or anyone, vastly unlike Hillary.

Right, it's not like he's borrowed millions from Wall Street banks for decades, or done business with Chinese companies and Saudi royalty, or has business contracts with wealthy real estate owners and contractors. Yes, we can know this for certain because of his long history in public service. Oh, wait....

And of course, we know a few of Trump's donors in this election cycle:

Renaissance Technology: $15 million
GH Palmer: $2 million
Marcus Foundation: $2 million
Hawaiian Gardens Casino: $1 million

And that's just the ones publicly disclosed, as there is tons of dark money sloshing around.
https://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/contributors?id=N00023864

Surely you cannot be naive enough to think Renaissance donated $15m to Trump alone, out of the goodness of their quantitative hearts?

And is he his "own man" if he advocates for tax breaks that benefit people of his own income level, and casinos, and real estate magnates?

Oh, wait, I know what the answer will be. Heeding big donors and setting up tax cuts for his own businesses is just "good business." Well, at least when Trump does it.

Quote:
And you are wrong to suggest he is "one of them." His entire life he's been shunned by them; he's a true outsider.

Good grief, what a steaming pile. He was born into wealth, he was raised in wealth, he attended elite colleges, he's been rubbing shoulders with the elites (including signing business deals and donating to politicians from both parties) for decades.

This myth that he's a "man of the people" is sheer nonsense. I really don't know why anyone falls for it.

2. SCOTUS (soon)
3. House
4. Senate

New email shows DNC boss giving Clinton camp debate question in advance

Published October 31, 2016

Another leaked email has emerged showing Democratic National Committee boss and former CNN contributor Donna Brazile sharing a debate question in advance with the Hillary Clinton campaign -- despite Brazile's persistent claims to the contrary.

According to documents released Monday by WikiLeaks, Brazile sent Clinton Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri an email titled, ?One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash,? the night before the March 6 CNN primary debate in Flint, Mich.

?Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint,? Brazile wrote.

The following night, Lee-Anne Walters, a mom whose twin boys stopped growing and whose daughter lost her hair during the Flint water contamination crisis, posed a question to both Clinton, the eventual Democratic presidential nominee, and her primary opponent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/ ... -question-in-advance.html

Brazile just got fired by CNN over this.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-medi ... zile-230534#ixzz4OgJupnb2

But CNN (the Clinton News Network) is just sorry they got caught rigging the debates. They'll instruct future people to feed the debate questions to the Democrat candidate by phone instead.

I like the Clinton News Network. Check out how Wolf Blitzer forgot that he's a journalist and not a Clinton surrogate in his conversation with Giuliani:

Most news outlets report a knucklehead shouting Jew S A at a Trump rally; no news outlets report on a mob of progressives assaulting a homeless black woman guarding a Trump star in Hollywood.

Really fair coverage. When the star was destroyed, though, it was very newsworthy...scumbags.

Replacing the official flag of Mississippi with some alternate version is a gross example of censorship of reality.
