Pipeline explosion in Shelby, Alabama kills one and injures several others.

I wonder how many of these pipelines that explode every year were the safest pipelines ever built. I wonder how long it will be until Jersey City is on fire.

Virginia authorities charge man with felony voter fraud

The Washington Times - Friday, October 28, 2016

Virginia authorities have charged a man who registered voters for a liberal political advocacy group with voter registration fraud, saying he filed false applications for people who do not exist.

Vafalay Massaquoi, 30, is accused of inventing applicants and forging voter registration forms that were filed with the Alexandria Office of the General Registrar. He?s charged with two felony counts of forging a public record and two felony counts of voter registration fraud.

An Alexandria Police Department spokeswoman said Mr. Massaquoi worked for New Virginia Majority, a progressive nonprofit that works with people of color, women, youth and gay communities.

Officials with New Virginia Majority did not respond to requests for comment Friday.

Authorities did not say how many false voter registration applications were filed.

Commonwealth?s Attorney Bryan L. Porter said no votes were cast using the fraudulent registrations.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2 ... e-man-felony-voter-fraud/
Yes, voter fraud hardly ever happens. This is yet another example of voter registration fraud which is very easy to commit but very hard to turn in to actual votes. It's funny how people like you harp on and on about voter fraud but have so much trouble finding incidents of actual voter fraud.

It's sad that you and many other people can't understand the difference.

When you fill out the registration form one question is asked, are you a citizen? If you answer yes, you can proceed. If you answer no, then you do not proceed. They claimed they were Puerto Ricans who do have citizenship.
It's not like you just fill out the form and voila! you're registered to vote. The elections office still verifies who you are and that you're eligible to vote. Just because someone checks the "Yes I'm a citizen" box doesn't mean that you're automatically allowed to vote.

The problem is that you think Gore was somehow entitled to Nader's votes, and that it's their fault for nsot voting for Gore. If Gore and the DNC couldn't convince people to vote for them over Bush then that's their own damn fault and nobody else's.

Instead of owning up to their mistakes, the DNC went into 2008 thinking "That jerk Nader isn't around to ruin it for us this time. It's in the bag!" and completely blew it again.

This is revisionist and even bizarre, and btw a Democrat won in 2008. What happened then and what's happening now in the 3rd party camps is people saying "both the parties exactly are the same corrupt bastards, it makes no difference who gets elected so I might as well vote for Nader (or whoever)" The fallacy is THEY'RE NOT THE SAME!!! However flawed Clinton is she's not Trump, and she represents a party that will be more left than the GOP. Full on Bernie left? No, sorry. But more liberal than the GOP.

And SCOTUS is what will send 3rd party liberal voters to hell. Even Obama's current court nominee is far better than any GOP one, and a Clinton nominee will be guaranteed to be left of him. Do as I do and ease your conscience by being a single issue voter, in a general election I elect a SCOTUS nominator. Period. I find primaries much harder.
well I meant 2004, not 2008. I think that was obvious.

How is anything I said revisionist? Gore lost Florida not because of Nader, but because he failed to convince enough people to vote for him. Putting the blame on Nader is ridiculous, and a sign that our democracy sucks.

As for voting for Clinton because Trump is worse, they're both shit candidates. I would much rather have Clinton than Trump, but a vote for either one is a waste of your vote. NJ is a complete lock for the Democratic party. Voting for either Republicans or Democrats in any safe state is a total waste of a vote. Better to use it on any third party candidate in the hopes of getting them better public financing, so we can break the stranglehold that the two corrupt political parties have on this nation.

Are there any energy supply companies that aren't scams?
Home away from home
Home away from home

My PSE&G bills are way too high and theoretically, since multiple companies can compete for your business on the supply side, there should be some better deals out there. However, it seems like every company I come across is either a scam. Either they try to lock you into contracts, or they're pyramid schemes, or they give you good rates for two months before jacking them up, or whatever.

So does anyone have good experiences with a third party suppliers that have good prices and aren't scams? Ideally something without a contract, as I'd like to back out if the costs don't drop.

I'm not a fan of the Confederate flag, but I'm even more so not a fan of censorship. Replacing the official flag of Mississippi with some alternate version is a gross example of censorship of reality. You should strive to change the world you live in by making real efforts, not by closing your eyes, cupping your hands over your ears and screaming "la la la I can't see you!"

The DNC and Hillary supporters are doing the same thing this year. Blaming Sanders supporters for a lack of enthusiasm for Clinton, and pre-emptively blaming anything and everything on Sanders supporters. If Trump weren't such a psycopath, or if the RNC had picked a different nominee, Clinton would be losing and it would be nonstop whining and moaning from people like you about Sanders supporters.

You need to stop blaming other people for your own shortcomings. Or rather, the DNC should learn to do so.

Nader didn't get Bush elected. Stop being a petulant baby. Bush was elected because of a lot of things, but it wasn't Nader. Don't forget that in 2004 Bush defeated Kerry handily and Nader wasn't around at all. I can't believe that 16 years later people are still whining about Nader. If Gore and the DNC couldn't convince people to vote for them over Bush, then that's entirely the failings of the DNC and Gore themselves.

If we can't truthfully tell people that they should vote the way they believe is best, and vote for who they truly want to be President, then we don't have a properly functioning democracy (which we don't). Don't try to guilt people into voting for your shitty candidate because the other candidate is even shittier. Work to change the system by encouraging the people around you and your representatives to support the National Popular Vote Compact, ranked voting systems, and bans on lobbyists and other legal bribes in politics.

I didn't vote for Ralph Nader, but he's a true patriot that has dedicated his life to improving the lives of the American people, and the way a bunch of whiny childish Democrats still treat him almost two decades later is downright embarrassing and shameful.

On a personal note, I'd like to support Stein if only to help the Green party get funding in the next election, but I personally wouldn't want her as president. She's a bit of an anti-science nut, and her running mate Baraka is a lunatic. But they'd still be better options than the corrupt, warmongering options of Clinton or Trump.

WHAT. Literally every single one of them was an immigrant. None of them were American born nor were they citizens.

The hijackers in the September 11 attacks were 19 men affiliated with al-Qaeda. An overwhelming majority, 15 of the 19, were citizens of Saudi Arabia.[1] The others were from the United Arab Emirates (2), Egypt and Lebanon.

It's obviously a good idea to wait for evidence before making accusations, but it's also dumb to try and yell about it not being Muslims before you have the facts either.

At first, due to the amateurish nature I figured it could just be just some punks or a nutjob like the Atlanta Olympics bomber. But I'd be dishonest if I said I didn't immediately assume it was a Muslim as well, because surprise surprise, that's how it usually turns out.

Why not? And it's not "otherwise" residential, it's directly next to several other commercial properties, and 1.5 blocks away from Jersey Ave.

10-12 staff leaves about 20 tables of two or about 10 tables of four. Doesn't seem too far off from what other restaurants of comparable size (More Express, Wurst Bar, new Madam Claude Bis) fit.

It sounds like you have a real big chip on your shoulder about this place.

That's nice. I think more outreach programs, especially things like barbecues or other events open to the public would be helpful for the Islamic community, not only to be more accepted by their neighbors, but also to integrate young men who may be at risk of radicalization. Reminds me of going to a seder that a Jewish student group was hosting, and over half of the attendees were Muslims that were genuinely interested in learning. It was very nice.

Or it just means that it's easier to find the gates to hell, because it's easy to fall into temptation and sin, but hard to lead a life of virtue and find the gates to heaven. It doesn't mean that lots more people are going to heaven than are going to hell. It just sounds like you hope more people are going to hell than heaven, because you're a spiteful old bat that can't see the goodness in people's hearts and realize that the love of God is in every person.

I don't think redefining "trolling" has anything to do with liberals, it just has to do with people using it in the completely wrong way. Just like how a lot of people refer to any picture of a person as a "selfie" now. Or how the definition of "meme" has completely changed to just be "picture of something with words on it."

You and Monroe need to stop blaming anything and everything on the liberal boogieman.

Back to the topic though, I'm dumbfounded that Clinton decided to make Wasserman Schulz her "honorary campaign chair." It's like Clinton is living in a castle, completely unaware of how this reinforces everything. What an utterly stupid PR move. This entire election is a travesty. I really liked the original design and thought it was a lot of fun. At this point I just want the entire thing painted over. I only hope that liberals and Democrats decide to start ignoring regressives soon, or they will have a long-lasting impact on our national culture that will take a long time to recover. If people don't start ignoring their drivel soon, instead of just having idiots on twitter complaining and being outraged at everything, we'll start seeing more and more government programs focused on driving racial differences instead of erasing them.

It just really sucks right now, because even though these people are a relatively small group, they are so outspoken, and social media is so quick to react, that celebrities and politicians fall into line lest they come under harassment themselves. It's a vicious crab bucket.
