Re: Democratic Convention

That a pretty pathetic over-generalization of 'left' and 'right'. If that were true, there wouldn't be people in either 'left' or 'right' who would serve in the military or have family serving to protect us from these threats. Let me know when Trump and his ilk send his kids to join the Army. No, he's too busy mocking guys like McCain and the family of a Muslim fallen hero.

Giuliani has, for the moment, surpassed Trump as the stupidest Republican on the planet. It is beyond comical.

I'm glad we have the Olympics to give us momentary respite from probably the craziest election year ever. I'm not looking forward to a Hillary Clinton presidency but Trump sure is making it easy for her, he might as well be Clinton's campaign manager.

When Trump said that Obama is the 'MVP' of ISIS, maybe someone should have told him he is the 'MVP' of Hillary Clinton's candidacy.

Since your family's arrival in this country, have they not prospered from the immoral legacy of the American Dream? Did they not come to this evil country not with the hope and promise of a bright future, but with the clear intent get their fair share of the spoils and exploit the American Promise like all other immigrants?

No my friend you are guilty of profiteering from the phony American Dream that was built on lies, deceit and murder. I hope you can sleep tonight... and understand your microaggressions that alter your perceived state of innocence. If you have made $1.00 in this country, then you may as well pulled the trigger yourself.

American dream? Is that the one where your ancestors were enslaved and brought to the country by force? I don't know buddy but you might be on to something there.

My complicity? I think you are mistaking me for someone who is white and of European descent. Regardless, you seem to be missing the point: these comparisons are stupid. Next time, just read up on history and don't let your emotions cloud your perception of some basic facts.

It's really a simple difference. European countries can close their borders if they change their policy. The native Americans... could not.

So when can we expect you to vacate the USA in response to this outrage?

Well you can relax. I'm sure some of us can tell the difference between outright colonization/invasion and an immigration policy.

I am pretty confident that the pope is for all taking care of these refugees.

He said it is 'Unchristian' to build walls.

I mean, how dare he to not side with bigotry and fear-mongering?

And why are you crying about it? It worked so well for your candidates in the past so suddenly it's so abhorrent for Clinton? You don't like it when a Democrat does it? That's called hypocrisy and you shouldn't really flaunt it.

You mean a candidate trying to win within the process set forth by the law of the land is actually worse than a foreign power trying to influence said process? Are you daft?

TRENTON ? First Lady Michelle Obama may have taken a string of thinly veiled swipes at Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night, but the Republican presidential nominee said he actually liked her speech.

"I thought her delivery was excellent," Trump told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Tuesday. "I thought she did a very good job. I liked her speech."

Obama's address drew the most praise of the speeches delivered on the opening night of the Democratic Party's 2016 convention at the Wells Fargo Center.

While declaring Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as the best person to carry on the legacy of her husband, President Barack Obama, the first lady also portrayed Trump as a "bully," without ever mentioning his name.

I'm sure somewhere, Melania's speech writers are taking notes.

While it's true that Comey's statements are damaging to Clinton and should be used wisely by the Trump camp, but not when you criticize Comey and somehow praise Saddam Hussein of all people. Trump and his campaigners are a bunch of fools.

I think we can all agree that not everyone wants to vote for Clinton but it seems to be the only way to avoid a Trump disaster.

Trump sure doesn't like Comey, and definitely devalues his integrity by claiming the 'system is rigged'.

I thought Comey was harsh but totally fair and he applied the law as best he could with the evidence they have.

"Preserve your own country's identity" sounds like the "keep it pure" nonsense we hear from racists. It's rather ironic because our own country wouldn't have the identity it has without immigrants, without refugees. The EU may be taking more of its fair share of refugees, definitely more than what we should be doing given our direct and indirect involvement in the mess we call the Middle East. It seems to me that some Americans fail at taking responsibility, something the Conservatives are quick to point out to people who ask government help.

Mao, did you think the spread of Christianity ended with Christ or even his direct disciples? In this country alone, is there only one brand of Christianity? There are many forms and there are many founders, just as there are many sects and denominations in other world religions. Religion has a funny way of branching out, so yeah if believers of Islam claim they are sons of Abraham then take it up with them.

Re: Jersey City Muslims Unite Against Trump

Mao, when you say they "subscribe to a kinder more humane Islam," that is still Islam, is it not? Sure, some of them can be irreligious but of the vast majority who are living their lives in peace and are often the victims of the nutjobs who want to use their religion to do evil, are you trying to say they are not really Muslim?

All the Abrahamic religions are tied to violence historically, why are you singling out Islam? Some versions of Christianity don't have saintly founders either, so what gives?

As for the terrible things, I think we can also come up with some extreme examples too if we take Islam out of it. Just in this country alone, there have been more mass shootings that have nothing to do with Islam.

Frank, you are trying to inject sense and logic to a senseless argument. Stop. Their heads might just explode.

As for the gun debate, all I have to say is that would be terrorists can actually obtain guns legally in this country. Perhaps there is something that can be done about that first, and worry about how they can obtain it illegally later. At the very least, we should have control on how we legally do things, right?

And that's the thing about rape, it is probably the most under reported crime in any country. We don't know for sure which country has it worse so yeah, reporting the crime is an important first step.

Lets be real here. Any person who lies to authorities about a crime will be dealt with. There are consequences to be faced when you bear false witness and this woman's life will not be pleasant for quite some time. If there are no criminal charges then I wouldn't be surprised if she gets sued. It's only a fitting end for someone who has tainted the process for the real victims.

Blah blah, like the Baylor rapes and sexual assaults that were ignored by school officials and finally got the head coach of the football team fired. These are not just allegations mind you, there are actual convictions.

We all love to pick and choose cases to boost our arguments but as Yvonne said in her thread, the USA is the number one rape nation in the world and quite often, the victim gets dumped on and ignored.

For some of the best Dominican/Spanish food that's real cheap, there's El Sol Del Caribe at Sterling Ave. They have a small order of either stew, bbq, or roasted chicken with any kind of rice for $3.

If it happens in your property, can I sue? What does that have to do with allowing transgenders into whatever bathroom they choose? Because it fits your narrative?

What would you say if a transgender was there to stop the rape? Would you change your tune? I somehow doubt it.
