What exactly was the "demeaning to women" part?

Like, for example, if someone was to question my qualifications, would it be immediately considered as something "demeaning to immigrants"?

I agree... there was no comment on her gender made... strictly qualifications... I might be a little offended if I was his secretary (male or female) and he might think about apologizing to that individual because they probably make more important decisions in their job than the Lt. Gov. does.... The energy Bruno and Co. are wasting here would be better spent condemning Weiner and the San Diego Mayor Filner if they want to drag this to a national level with the "War on Women" talking points.

Great website... interesting morning exploring.... smiled when I saw the Fleet Bank logo on the Home Page, a northeast banking icon from RI that bought up all sorts of local banks before the bigger fish BoA brought them.

It all comes down to money... fewer cans / fewer collections and with these solar cans even fewer collections... think it also had to do with people illegally dumping their "house or business garbage" into them. I was always curious about how those solar cans came to be in Jersey City... they suddenly popped up on my street, was it a bid or no bid contract? how are they maintained etc.......

" Wilson, a resident of Union Street, is a proponent of assigning more cops to foot patrol and make them talk to people, arguing that developing relationships with local residents is the best way to develop leads and thwart crime. He said a number of gangs have a presence in Jersey City, including MS13, the Latin Kings and some white supremacist groups."

Bloods, Crips, MS13 and Latin Kings are all named... I like to know more about the white supremacist groups? Who are they, where are they and what activities are they up to in Jersey City.

I don't know how he does not creep out women voters... he is the guy that gets on elevators and gives women creepy vibes! We shall see how forgiving NYC voters are over the next 24 hours... I do not think NYC wants to pay on a sexual harassment settlement if he is mayor.

If there is one phrase that seems to be the 2013 democrat mantra when they are caught in a scandal/screwup it is the ending of Weiner's statement today....

"As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward."

That is Jay Carney's favorite quote every time something bad "leaks" out from WH. Don't dwell on the latest scandal, just move forward because there is nothing to look at... Fast&Furious, IRS,NSA,Bengahzi,Affordable Healthcare Act, Persecution of US Citizens, Middle East debacle, unemployment; neglecting inner city murder rates and I could go on longer... My favorite quote from Marx (Groucho) "Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?"

I am more of an Iron Monkey rooftop person, but I think he wants more of a view. Anyone with thoughts on this? Thanks.

If you'd like to sit outside, Surf City and Henry's On The Hudson are options. If you'd like to stay inside with some A/C the Hyatt has some great views. You may also want to consider places in Hoboken.

Henry's not a good first date, place (mallish)... think VU is nice but stuffy... Michael Anthonys Newport, nice view, not sure about the food/table service, but if just drinks, can't be bad... Liberty House?? Maritime Parc over at LSP... of course there is Hoboken waterfront option, stay away from W (distractions) and there is the waterview rooftop Hoboken Bar over on 14th... Have Fun!

Funny you should say this - I tend to be libertarian on social issues, but not so much on fiscal policy (and as a result, end up getting into arguments with more hardcore libertarians all the time...). As I read this article, your point is exactly what I was thinking - if ever there's an argument against deregulation, this is it. Can you imagine if they could do this with other commodities - what would happen if they were able to control the wheat market? Sugar? Crude oil? Gold? Or, heaven forbid, pork bellies (bacon)???

Access to natural resources are what controls the world... I saw a you tube video that I recall was the Nestl?'s CEO talking about how the global fresh water supplies should be controlled by big businesses so it can be managed more efficiently... it was quite shocking to see how bold he was, this is what makes the Truthers crazy

Did you miss this? From Steve Fulop's reply in this thread:

"2) He was not hired for the pension credits as the agency is not in the same pension he is in
"

So to collect a pension in this system he'll be starting from zero.

That was exactly my question... so at some point as we look forward, he will be collecting a Jersey City pension on $110000 salary, along with whatever he qualified for in other pension plans... curious if he is vested immediately or needs to wait a certain amount of time?

A lot of reading involved the The Record's investigative report on the rise and downfall of McGreevy. it is an amazing, but very disturbing story on the influence money and power have on the NJ political scene. One thing that hasn't changed are the public relations attempts to spin a bad ideas into a good ideas that will benefit the citizens. I have another question regarding the McGreevy compensation package... does this new position mean that McGreevy maybe collecting another pension check in the future?

It took me 3 whole clicks from this thread and zero typing to find their names.

http://observer.com/masthead/

Which is not really relevant to the question is Jim McGreevey suitable for the job?

On the one hand is his deceit, incredibly poor judgment and character issues from his prior political life. On the other is his record since then and the work he's been doing. His capability as an executive is established, his experience in re-entry is solid. Whether you like the guy or not, he has the capacity to do a great job, and is a quantum leap beyond what we have had.

If you're suspicious, then watch him closely. McGreevey should be judged on the job he does for Jersey City and the people in his program.

It was a risk for Steve Fulop to pick him, but the potential benefit is huge. Fulop as a candidate said he was eager to try some new things. He's delivering on that promise, now they just have to work, something nobody can know this month or next. Good managers take smart chances, then watch how they go and make corrections when needed.

I think we've got the kind of Mayor he said he'd be, and I hope like hell it all works out.

LOL TOO FUNNY, If you google the first name (Publisher) on the Observer Masthead it will make you laugh out loud, then read his Wikipedia Bio.
The publisher's last name is prominent in that Yvonne document (unsourced) as part of a family of NJ democrat influence peddlers... If the Wicki Bio (unsourced) is 50% accurate, especially with political contributions and the Yvonne document is 50% accurate it certainly would disqualify that journal as an independent opinion of McGreevy's rehabilitation. And let's not start a discussion of how editorial board opinions are independent of the Publisher/Owner... ethics have been lacking in media for years!

I believe it.

I was traveling with my partner on a crowded United flight into Newark and she was assaulted while waiting in line to use the bathroom. A Wall Street-type-guy groped her in a way that was overtly sexual, unprovoked, traumatic, and criminal.

It may sound like boys will be boys to you, but trust me, the FBI (this took place in airspace, recall) took it very seriously.

That stuff is all to common on planes, they have plane sex assault case with the jury right now in the area... this was a teenager travelling alone groped by some perv... the FBI got him, hope he's looking at some hard time. Women should speakup / charge and the pervs should be prosecuted.

Seems I was about 10min behind you in my reading. I have yet to see one of our officers get out of their car with a DnD Coollatta. All I can say MariaElizabeth is that it is people like you that jade other people so when something really happens no one believes it. You allege you had 2 shopping bags, why didn't you swat the SOB then kick the family jewels? Nah. You follow your assailant? Please, save the drama for your mama & get help.

Why don't you call YOUR Momma and get some help punk!!! Why don't you spend less time on here, like Uncle Sam trying to clean your name off the airwaves and spend more time TRAINING YOUR OFFICERS AND ESPECIALLY THE PEOPLE WHO TAKE THESE CALLS SINCE I TOLD THE SAME THING TO FOUR OF THEM AND THEY STILL GOT IT WRONG. The SERPICO among you IS LONG DEAD HOMEBOY, AND AT BEST YOUR OFFICERS YESTERDAY SEEMED LIKE HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUTS!!

MarieElizabeth, If I were to describe the residents of any neighborhood in JC as Crackheads /Meth Fiends / Gangstas / Pimps etc.... and then ask the good citizens of that community to " ignore what I said if you are not one", I would expect one of them just might be offended and challenge my comment. Last night, when you described downtown as a racist segregationist community, I took offense. That is the only reason I responded back because that post was ridiculous... Good luck pursuing your case, I hope you make lots of money when it goes to trial.

Stop and Frisk is another tactic to keep guns off the street... police know the bad actors already... they may carry them now, but hopefully they will think twice before they carry them outside with a S&F policy in place. So if a guy walking around in a hoodie on the hottest day of the year looks suspicious, they can stop and talk with him. It could prevent another religious building being shot up!

I really hope that is not the case, but, the city will need state/federal help... the state democrat political machine needs to curb the "new reform" mayor from JC because you wouldn't other parts of the state to follow the lead of Jersey City voters. I hate it when people use phrases like "top quality talent at a discount"... if someone is that good, why discount your services? And save the "wants serve the public" quotes. He has been there and it didn't produce much. By all measures, that is a damn good salary compared to many Jersey City residents. How many other people were considered for the job? What is the current salary with benefits and how does that compare to similar positions in other cities? And based on the fact that bribes / pay-to-play is considered a cost to doing business in New Jersey, it is usually the taxpayer that gets screwed.

No, I believe during his resignation when he honorably resigned because he is a "Gay American" (as opposed to a corrupt NJ Public Official who happens to be gay) it came out either from his State Police Protection or the divorce of his second wife that he would leave the free public housing provided to select government officials in the middle of the night to cruise the NJ Turnpike.
