Despite all the racial conspiracy theories I still think he did it simply to get elected class president. With high school kids today it's all about having a nice resume for college. He tried to play an easy hand and it blew up in his face. He got what he deserved and has learned the harshest of lessons. Perhaps he has a future in the HCDO?
Not sure how you meant conspiracy, but this story at its foundation is about race and manipulation of his fellow students playing up "white privilege" . I think it is safe to say that kids that generally run for those types of class positions are quite bright and have a broader understanding of the world than many of their peers. He knew what he was doing, he just underestimated the administration's response, which included notifying the police. It was far too late when he asked for no further investigation. This appeared to be racial civil rights and school bullying which are both against the law and if the administration failed to respond????

'Wish the kid well'?? Let's hear a major mea culpa from this kid, along the lines of 'I'm totally sorry I smeared my fellow students by tarring them with a phony allegation that was race based, in a means to get myself elected to student council' before we wish the kid well. Just sayin.
I do not disagree, that is only one of the lessons I hope he learned... it would have been nice if he apologized in a public student forum, but it is late for that now.

My concern is that the kid wasn't charged and it would seem the matter has been concluded by police - Therefore he is not guilty of anything in the eyes of the law. If anything he is guilty of lying and speaking to the media about the lie - Then again if it was a crime to lie and lie in the public arena, every politician would be charged and guilty of a crime!

PS, He's still just a kid and would peoples thoughts be any different if he was 10 years old instead of 16. His dishonesty was a lie he carried for 3 days and it will now cost / haunt him for a life time - Anyone will be able to google his name in the future (especially HR depts. of any corporation) and hold it against him.

If he was charged and found guilty the records would have be kept 'under lock and key' because he is classified as a juvenile

Personally I wish the kid well... I hate to think any stupid thing (non-criminal) I did in high school would held against me 30 years later... I hope he has learned all the lessons that are to numerous to mention here... but it is a little disingenuous to say this was over in 3 days. This story went on for weeks, as did the official investigation. When graduation/summer came I think the administration/police already knew the results but said the investigation was ongoing with the hope it would disappear at the start of the fall school year. The media didn't let it drop, so here we are.

No doubt the kid screwed-up, he lied and maybe your words of wisdom jerseymom, should have be voiced to the him ... but then again the parents might of thought the threats were real and they wanted some sort of justice or exposure that their kid was facing.

In hindsight we are all experts when we have the full and truthful story, however Police information is confidential and there appears to be laws about disclosure of such information when it involves a juvenile.

This is when the Parents and Police were correct to say 'no comment' when the media came calling for the outcome of the investigation.

The truth was a fairly obvious after the first week when the student seeing how this was spinning out of control requested that there be no further investigation. I do not fault parents for supporting their kids, but at some point, the parents must have asked the kid directly, is this the truth? This is what happens when the media has preconceived agendas they want to promote, as opposed to just reporting the news. This never should have gotten to this point and ultimately it was up to the student to be honest.

If I had a kid that went to that school, I wouldn't be happy with how it was handled ... but that's just me and wonder if the kid was from a prominent family, would they have acted the same way and exposed the kid publicly with confidential / sensitive information provided to them by Police?

St. Peter's Prep still get a 0/10 from me and the cops get 10/10 for giving the news reporter no ammunition for their news story.
The school could have been better served with a PR specialist!

It was the news media fault identifying the family... the kid and his parents were on TV news repeating the same lies that the kid told the administration. He was not believable on the report I saw when the student kept on describing the incident in third person. The kid was not hard to identify because he was running as an underclassperson for a student council president seat. Any student could have told the media the kid's name while the media was onsite banging the "racist institution drum" against a noteworthy Jesuit School. This racial polarization activity is all to common in educational institutions today with little or no consequences to the perps.

Sad to hear, however the school is clearly the biggest ass here - The Police made no comment due to the age of the child (minor / juvenile), the Father and Son made no comment, yet the school wanted to expose the kid.

It should have been resolved behind closed doors - Now the kid will have a difficult few years ahead of him before he gets to university and this will follow / haunt him for life.

The school gets a 0/10 and has shown to be the immature one here, when they could have helped this kid review and learn from his stupid actions.

Police 10/10 and Parent 10/10

The school was fine in their response to the media asking about the results of the investigation... the entire school/alumni were victimized by this kid's ignorance... I am fairly certain that the JJ was the one that put all the background information into the story and built that around Admin quotes. The kid will be fine, he was not charged with anything and transferring as a junior is no big deal.

Well I am glad they didn't let that kid off the hook calling it a "learning experience" for the school... I am sure he was asked not to return for the fall session and not officially expelled (though he deserved to be). I wonder how long it takes before the NYC news media announces the results of the investigation? WABC TV was doing remotes from Warren Street.

A County Prep High School teacher who moonlights as a full-time Jersey City Parking Authority worker was arrested and charged with drunken driving on Sunday night after police say he swiped parked cars on Summit Avenue and then crashed into a utility pole.

Joseph Curran, 53, of Sherman Place, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to exhibit documents. Curran had a blood-alcohol level of 0.28, three-and-a-half times higher than the legal limit, police allege.

He earns $61,653 as a County Prep teacher and $74,798 as a JCPA official.

I tend to agree with your philosophy... US is certainly involved with treaties (NATO) that are obsolete... but I think Obama's (democrats in general) altruistic expectations going into the presidency lead to an eye opening realization that there are some very bad actors in the world... hence increase in drone strike and continuation of Gitmo.

You have to smirk and shake your head when geo-political reality hits these liberal democrats in the face. Their guy Obama is not getting it done especially after Hillary C. "hit reset" with the Russians. If either Bush had done 1/3 of what these incompetent fools had done in the Middle East, this same guy (+ Reid, Schumer, etc.) would be screaming for independent investigators and/or impeachment. The Russians/Assad/Iranians kicked our butts in Benghazi stopping an illegal shipment of guns(USA Constitution / UN Charter) in an attempt to overthrow another member of the UN. They have Snowden and basically every important foreign policy initiative from this administration has failed.

You may research the Big Dig overruns in Boston if you'd like to see the pain that would have been inflicted upon us.

That's just one of many errors/distortions in the slanted link.

Monroe, you ignorant slut. Christie in fact lost several hundred million dollars of the ARC money that needed to be repaid, plus legal fees, plus $18 billion in real estate values that won't be realized without better train access. Also, NJ lost all the tax revenue from the high paid white collar workers who won't be living in New Jersey because they can't commute to Manhattan by train.

Also, the misnomer "train to Macy's basement" is the sort of distinction only made by fat suburban nimrods who drive from one end of the Short Hills Mall to the other instead of walking through it. The entrance to the new tracks would have been across the street from the existing entrance to Penn Station-- true. But that won't be any farther away than NJTransit trains in Moynihan Station, across 8th Avenue. Or put another way, the tracks "under Macy's Basement" would be about as far away as the 1,2,3 trains from the A,C,E trains which both go to Penn Station. On top of that, the Gimbels tunnel connecting Herald Square subway and PATH trains to Penn Station was to reopen, connecting all this transit in one continuous system. You knew that right, or didn't you bother doing your research before reproducing Christie's talking points?

Okay, so yeah, carry on.

Oh, one more thing. Don't ever complain about how crowded the PATH was, is, or will be in the future, because there was $3 billion of federal money that was intended to ease trans hudson commuting that the state isn't getting.

I remember your Point 1 in the papers, truly don't know resolution but I am curious if it was as you state, it might be a interesting debate point in the fall election. I do remember there were some real problems in how they dumbed down the project to make it "economical" and one key change was it was not going to end @ Penn Station as planned. Also believe "high paid white collar " workers do not really worry about public transportation in consideration of where they live.... Public transportation is a mess because of inept management by Authorities accountable to no one... They don't care about their customers and their cost overruns are paid for out of the wallets of taxpayers who don't use the system and of course the riders, most of whom are not high paid white collar types. They are the ones that can least afford what have become annual fare increase... PATH rides will soon cost as much as the ferries.

You could also describe her as "water carrier" for "union hacks". it's not a personal attack, Botox Barbara might be rough but that's politics. The interesting thing is the public announcement that was released shortly after the election announcing an open and transparent hiring policy for positions in Jersey City Government. It discussed renaming of the Jersey City Government HR office. It also highlighted a new hiring process that included publishing all available positions with a preference to Jersey City residents. That has yet to be followed through with.... it should have been a priority.

Printed daily/weekly news media is a fading industry... Look at the demise of Newsweek (sold for $1 to daily beast) and Washington Post. They were the same company and they were/are being saved by liberal elites who think they know better than the marketplace. Bostonians had enough of the Globe's pompous attitude, that's why they stopped buying it... Local expression, " I don't buy the Globe, I borrow it! " I suspect John Henry bought the Globe for the land only to build a new Fenway Park... can't wait for the Morrissey Blvd. bow tied bum kissers to be kicked out and their Ivory Tower razed!

And with regard to the Christy/Clinton Poll? Republican opinions are only valid if they agree with the liberal media opinion... Christy is being promoted as a likable Republican only so Clinton can beat him in a national election. He does not have the temperament to deal with the national media. He can explode at stupid New Jersey reporter questions and demonstrate leadership, Try that at the national level... I do think he would make a great cabinet secretary. BTW I think that same silly poll also included George Zimmerman?
