The fact that people do not realize carpetbaggertil718 is not a cop really makes me wonder.

So according to the craigslist post, the entire business is included in the 4k/month rent. I have no idea how much a business like Basic would go for to buy......200k perhaps? So, 4k a month for the business and the space seems like a good deal.

As a dog owner, I too would welcome some lawns in the park being designated as "pet free." They already do this at Van Vorst, and the world hasn't ended for dog owners. Nobody wants to sit on a lawn that's saturated with piss and crap.

I think most people are fine with this. It just depends on how large this pet-free zone is.

While I am looking forward to the park being open....I really am going to miss how quiet it is. And as usual, i will have the JCPD on speed dial when those basketball games are being played late at night.

I have the same passion and focus for having basketball courts in HP that you have for dog space. And as you dare the city toenforce their rules, I dare you to mount a fight against the courts. Your liberal friends, the entire department of recreation, and as many high school students as we choose will be on hand to sign and fight for what is rightfully theirs. You give your anti-court speeches and just about everyone walks away shaking their heads.

BB courts so close to people's homes is a bad idea, no matter what you think. The only way the court would be acceptable would be it were enclosed by some kind of soundproofing. The yelling, screaming and cursing is annoying, disgusting and embarrassing.

Hate, hate, hate that bb court.

And also, who, or what agency is responsible for cleaning up the trash that is all over the streets? After car accidents, there is usually glass and plastic car parts all over the street. And it usually remains there for weeks.

You'd think the city would start ticketing for littering. Think about the amount of money that would generate.

People are lazy and for the most part, miserable.

Litter = lose a finger. I like the sound of that.

It's disturbing to know that my kid attends this school and is possibly exposed to this guy. I hope they do a thorough investigation and talk to all the kids he had contact with. It's bad enough kids have to deal with a poor education, gangs and violence, now they have to watch out for the people in charge of their care.

Just keep in mind. Some kids lie and make up stories.

At an intermediate school in staten island, a group of girls lied about a teacher looking down their shirts. It was a complete fabrication and they only did it because they did not like this particular teacher.

There's definitely more to this story. The first time home buyer credit is like a short term no interest loan via your taxes, I?m not really sure how it works but you have to eventually pay it back. At least according to this IRS website: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=204671,00.html?portlet=7 Moreover according to the website: Homebuyers who purchased a home in 2008, 2009 or 2010 may be able to take advantage of the first-time homebuyer credit. The credit: Applies only to homes used as a taxpayer's principal residence. Reduces a taxpayer's tax bill or increases his or her refund, dollar for dollar. Is fully refundable, meaning the credit will be paid out to eligible taxpayers, even if they owe no tax or the credit is more than the tax owed. I think the issue here is that the home is not his primary residence. His residence is in Secaucus. ps. Gnome the reason why it is a good idea is becasue the real estate market is sufferring from the biggest collapse in a century and the federal government is trying to soften the blow by allowing the credit for average joes. You can't benefit from it if you're a property speculator/flipper.

The original first time home buyer credit was like a loan. It had to be paid back via your tax return over 16 years. The new one is a full on 8k tax credit. If you qualify, you get the whole amount. Unfortunately, the income qualification is set pretty low, 75k single, 150k married.

Jesus christ. I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone with what goes on in this city. So sick.

10th & Erie ? Many people have suggested that this blinking light be changed to a fully functional light due a high number of accidents at this intersection. However, working with the Traffic division, our office has determined that a fully functional light would require a complete overhaul of the existing intersection and is not necessary. The East Police District has stepped up enforcement in this area.

That blinking yellow light is the funniest thing. What is its purpose?

If they won't make it a regular light, then pull that thing down, and put up stop signs on Erie. I'm waiting for the day a car mows down people when they are sitting outside at the Embankment.

The part I don't understand is the whole waiting at the restaurant for an hour just to make sure he wasn't still out there. If my wife called and told me some guy is following her, I could have been out there hunting him down. Not sitting inside a restaurant hoping for him to leave.

When writing anonymously, readers have nothing to judge other than your words. We don?t know how great and generous and compassionate you are in real life if your language doesn?t reflect it. The following are two examples from this thread of careless and hurtful language. I?m not accusing anyone of being intentionally malicious, nor am I claiming to know the inner workings of your heart and mind. I?m suggesting that, if you aren?t malicious and don?t intend harm, thinking carefully about what you write can make sure you aren?t misunderstood. First, @downright intentionally brought race into the discussion by saying that the people who cause trouble at the mall are ?not white nor Asian. Mostly black.? It would have been fine to note that the specific people involved in a specific incident were black (or white, or teens, or any other factual truth) ? but it crosses a line to move from talking about specifics to generalizing about an entire group. Saying ?I do not like the behavior of some black people? suggests that @downright believes there is something about being black that makes people behave badly. (That may not be what was meant but it?s what your words suggest.) Second, several comments on this thread referred to the human beings involved in the incident(s) as ?trash? and ?garbage.? There is a long history of using language like this to justify hatred of an entire group or race. Two historic examples are blacks? status in the US as less than fully human to justify enslaving them (you can?t own a human but you can own property ? see the Supreme Court?s Dred Scott decision). And Nazi propaganda under Hitler called Jews ?vermin? as a way to justify exterminating them. I?m NOT suggesting that anyone meant AT ALL to link themselves to either Nazis or slave owners. But when you use the same rhetorical devices that they used, the people reading can think you?re doing it on purpose.

I think when someone acts like an animal, and not a human being, then that person deserves to be treated like an animal, and not a human being.

Regardless of race.

However, I said neither.

Just doing my best to be politically correct so people don't jump down my throat and throw "racist" around. It's so much easier for people do call others racist rather than addressing the actual problem and admitting the truth.

I agree - I have been to the mall and movies numerous times, although I avoid any movie theater on weekends, the weekdays I have gone there it is quiet and never had a problem. Also never had a problem in the mall itself either... nor have I ever seen it being trashy I don't know I don't need Short Hills mall to impress me. We do live in an urban area and we have all types of people that live here, we cannot be the cookie cutter Short Hills mall, that will never happen.

I don't quite understand when you write that "We do live in an urban area and we have all types of people that live here." No one is complaining about the types of people that frequent the mall. We are only complaining about the behavior of these people.

With that being said, most of the people who's behavior I have a problem with are not white nor asian. Mostly black.

Now let's not misinterpret. I'm not saying I don't like black people. I am saying that I do not like the behavior of some black people.

The problem with the mall is the people that frequent it. Ghetto trash people = ghetto trash mall. There are only a handful of stores in that mall that I would shop in. However, I usually don't. Why? Because it is a disgusting place filled with disgusting people. I get in my car and I drive to short hills.

And I try so damn hard to not stereotype. It's just damn near impossible not to.

Hamilton Park is NEXT DOOR to a MALL. The chance of cutesy shops surviving next door to a mall is about as good as a wine store surving next door to a Best Buy or a little overpriced hardware store next door to Home Depot. If you want cutesy you have to buy property in Saddle River, Rumson, or Easthampton. We get mega-shopping instead. "Oh goodness Muffie, a BRIE SHOPPE opening betweeen YE OLDE CUCKOO CLOCK and LOXETERIA!" Retail in Hamilton Park? NONE!

Keep in mind that the Newport Mall is a disgusting cesspool.
