Don't be naive, just because they pet your dog doesn't mean they will help you. I was getting robbed months ago by a guy I knew and spoke to who was all dusted up, and my neighbor blatenly just stood there and watched even when I told him to help he shrugged his shoulders... people dont get involved... no one has your back except yourself.

Not sure where you live but there is a street right by Liberty State Park light rail.. last street on Communipaw, they have a little side area where (we, I live there) park our cars. its an old parking lot for a building that has since shut down. When is street cleaning they never bother with our cars, and we never get tickets.

I charge 10.00 a visit personally, I am not sure about other services.

You can expect to pay between 10 and as much as 18-20.

Great place, love the food!!!! I would go a lot more for lunch but the prices are too high. $5 for an empanada is way too much!

Please come up with some affordable lunch specials so I can come twice a week instead of twice a month....

It seems that these prices are priced so that if only a handful of customers show the overhead would still pay for itself. I could justify the cost if the portions would suffice to satisfy your appetite but it does not. I had paid $1.35 for a cookie at a rival business but one was satisfying in taste as well as filling. As long as there is a minimal following prices will stay the same.

I happened to stop by the booth they had at LHS on the weekend and saw this phenomenal chocolate walnut cookie... I almost purchased it but then saw that it was 5. yes 5.00 dollars... I mean it wasn't a small cookie, but I couldnt justify a 5.00 dollar cookie no matter how friggen good it looked ( I still dream about it)

It depends on your tollerance, although I find that particular area of Fairmount to be absolutely fine, others may not think so. I am not familiar with Hopkins Ave, but Fairmount I think is a good block IMHO, and your before Bergen which is usually where the problems start, you are pretty close to JFK which is very good

I tried calling this number but it is not a plumber. GreenvilleChick, can you repost using the correct number? The person to whom that number belongs is a doctor (a surgeon... a pipe fixer, but the human kind!)

Thanks!

Sorry only 3 months late but his correct number is 917-559-0083 for anyone else needing it

Im wit Aurora, I too lived on Belmont and Monticello.... drugs, guns, gangs... FYI there is a lot of "dip" aka angel dust being sold in that area this summer.... people are getting nuts over there...

The old timers in the neighborhood are great, but the kids are really taking over that corner... I do see more police presence then ever before but honestly, thy dont care. I really did enjoy the neighborhood tho and I didnt specifically move because of the crime, but because I needed a bigger place, and everyone is always all in your business over there. But I do, almost with guilt enjoy my new peace and quiet.

What is your budget? I know of a nice 1 bedroom on West Side for 850.00 in a VERY quiet area

Does anyone know what the code is for JC... im talking about those fire type bowls they sell at Target or Kmart for the backyard, are those legal in JC? I would assume yes because it has some type of cover that goes over it.

I just asked a friend that is more familiar with that area. My friend lives on Gardner and Summit and walks to JSQ every morning, anyways her repsonse was:

her: newkirk is by the courthouse that you live in. lmao
her: and there's 9,000 dope heads over there
her: down that side block

Lol, so I dont know, I thought it was an okay block, better then Jewett but there is a lot of action over there....

Disclaimer - im only fighting parking tickets at that courthouse I live in ... Goooo JCPA

Just a heads up to everyone, I called the rec center today to ask when Johnston will be opening, they don't have a clue, they said they have to wait till the end of the month to see if the budget will be approved, I asked about Pavonia and that is included too, I hope they don't do like NY and not open this season, they said they will know by the first week in July when everything will be opening, if at all.

Neither one of them had something as basic as peat moss, so I've got no sympathy. Maybe what we need is some more competition!

Greenvillechick: I grew corn in a 1/2 barrel years ago. It looked hysterical, but didn't pollinate properly. I've been told you need a big patch for it to pollinate.

Yes, my mom who has a farm, told me the same thing, she said I might get a couple ears of corn at best, but hey it was worth a try lol

The pool on grand and johnston should be open soon, its not a downtown type of crowd over there if your the type of people that dont like to mix with the white t shirt type of crowd, then I suggest you not have high expectations. But for normal people like me who get along with anyone... it looks really nice so far, they have a pretty big area for the kids with the overhead sprinklers as well. Also there is Lafayette Park which is right next door to the pool.

Two men, two women shot in Jersey City housing complex courtyard
By Ron Zeitlinger/The Jersey Journal

Four people were shot in the courtyard of a Jersey City housing complex early this morning, Jersey City police said.

The four victims, one man and two women from Jersey City and a man from Irvington, told police they were hanging out in a courtyard at Marion Gardens at 2:30 a.m. when a man came out of one of the buildings, said "who the f--- is y'all?" and then fired six shots.

The 29-year-old Irvington man was struck in the arm and leg, a 23-year-old Dales Avenue woman was grazed in her right leg and a 24-year-old Dales Avenue woman was shot in her right hand, police reports said. The two woman told police that another man, 38, also of Dales Avenue, was shot in the stomach, reports said.

The injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The shooter, who the victims told police they knew by name, returned to the building after the shootings and came back with a bigger gun, police reports said. At that point the victims fled, with the shooter following them and waving the gun before disappearing, according to the reports.

All four victims were treated at area hospitals. Police are investigating.

Wounded In Northern NJ Housing Complex
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBS) ―

Four people were shot and wounded when a gunman opened fire at a northern New Jersey housing complex.

Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the shooting early Friday at the Marion Gardens complex in Jersey City.

The victims -- two women and a man from Jersey City and an Irvington man -- told police they knew the shooter by name.

The victims said they were hanging out in a courtyard area when the gunman came out of a building around 2:30 a.m., yelled at them and fired six shots.

No arrest has been made.

Irvington is about nine miles west of Jersey City.

Hang them for murder and take down the projects! I'm done with these animals!

The Curries Woods "Projects" was taken down about 10 years ago. It is now those Hope VI town houses with only one project tower left but it is only for seniors and the disabled. It is now more like what they turned Lafayette and Duncan into and what Montgomery will become.

I do find it ironic you ask for them to be hanged when they murdered out of revenge. So it would seem you are using the same mentality as them, an eye for an eye.

Not for nothing but have you seen the "new" Curries Woods buildings? I was over there the other day I mean, Duncan looks so nice now, then I see Curries Woods, and it looks like SHIT! Apparently its up to each tenant to take care of their grass and outside appearance of their little condo... I wonder if Duncan and eventually Montgomery will follow suit after a while.
