Re: PATH (pathetic attempt at transporting humans)

Home away from home

As a motorcycle rider, I say fuck no to that. Heavy merged, like at the approaches to,, and the post-toll access ways to the tunnels are terrible. They are the only places where I routinely almost get hit when riding, and got hit once.

People are so anxious to crowd each other away at a merge, and motorcyclists are basically invisible to most drivers, that is is very easy to simply get knocked over.

It is against a very important maxim of riding, to keep distance between you and the cars that will be trying to kill you.

One of the biggest things they could do to alleviate some crowding, or at least lessen discomfort, is pass some kind of regulation that backpacks and messenger bags need to be off the shoulder in the train. When a few people with packed backpacks are in the car, it makes it difficult to get in or out, and it takes up space.

What NJ does is immaterial since the state and local tax deduction wording, as written, means that even if you pre-pay it, you will not be able to deduct it for 2017 taxes. The language of the new tax law only allows you to deduct state and local taxes in the year they are due.

It was written purposefully to prevent prepayment.

Can you keep the arts post in the correct forum? This is not about a restaurant or bar. We already have a sub-forum for arts events.

I would be very careful eating anything grown in open lots in Jersey City. Chromium, and other contamination is widespread due to industrial ore tailings and by products being given to people for free decades ago to be used for fill, for landscaping.

I had a garden when I lived in town, but all in raised boxes, with commercially bought topsoil.

Those pins were not produced by the campaign, your disingenuous ass.

As for your previous stupid post, Van Vorst did not take up arms against the Union to maintain slavery.

People like you should be ashamed of yourselves, drawing equivalence between traitorous rebels that killed more Americans than the Nazis with other figures that have something else going for them besides being Confederate generals and leaders.

Scum like you deserve the scorn you get here.

It was issued months after the passage of the Historic District. All the bold fonts in the world won't change that fact, nor the fact that he did not use the appeals process in any way, but instead decided to be a crank and just complain and state conspiracy theories.

It's all in the decision for the case to proceed. The judge tossed the due process claims for being inadequate.

This 100% wrong. See the Zoning Code at 345-71. l. 9. There is no explicit prohibition on vinyl siding in the Historic design standards.

Here's the link, scroll down to L. 9. for the applicable section.

He would still need a certificate of appropriateness to install vinyl siding.

Those deals are vaporware. Not a single contract was signed. It was a wish list, much like the fake signing ceremony for privatizing air traffic control.

Of course, Trumpies need imaginary accomplishments to distract from obstruction of justice.

Re: no motorcycles or scooters in jersey city?

I rode a motorcycle for commuting down to Edison for years before getting married and moving out to the burbs. I had a garage for mine. Motorcycle riders have mostly not been riding until a week or two ago due to the rainy spring, but a few diehard commuters have been on them all winter.

I would just be careful about taking certain routes in town. Be mindful of streets that end in choke points, like the approaches to the Holland Tunnel. Drivers tend to merge aggressively and may not see you. Make sure you also ride in the middle of your lane. I had a car hit me when it tried to squeeze through my lane to make a light that was turning red for which I decided to stop since I was turning left.

A simpleton's understanding of sexuality is not a justification of stupid opinion. Sex and gender is much more complex than external naughty bits.

BTW, "trangerism" is what right wing scumbags use to vilify transgenderism. Try not to show your colors.

Obama never had a travel ban. That list just removed a visa waiver, but we never stopped taking immigrants from those countries.

And for Yvonne, we sill allowed refugees from Iran. The travel ban was for US tourism TO Iran.

Both you and Monroe can get your facts straight now.

If they do, I hope they vet them correctly to insure they understand the difference between a military service and a civil service.

I'm no fan of ex-military as frontline general police officers (there are however exceptions to my viewpoint) ... if you look at most of the negative interactions throughout the nation between police and the community, it has often been through ex-military personnel - Often the problem is when one (ex-military) has been required to follow orders without question to giving orders, and expecting the same 'blind' obedience from the general public.

Studies show that ex-military members are less likely to use force unnecessarily. That cop that was disciplined in NC for not shooting a guy was ex-Army.

I have a shop I use in Linden that will sell, mount and balance used tires. I used them when my car had a blowout and I couldn't get the exact tire to match it without a three day wait. They put on a similar tire and balanced it until the exact tire I needed arrived.

I lived in the bubble of downtown for over 15 years before moving out of the downtown area. I too believed cars were unnecessary in JC. I carried groceries home on foot, had places like Lee's and Tender Shoot for smaller needs, and restaurants all around (well, at least for the last 5 years). I had zipcar for the times I needed to get more than I could carry, or for the occasional trips to Ikea/Target etc.
Earlier this year, I moved out of Downtown. I'm still under a 15 min walk to the JSQ PATH for my work commute, but you know what? There is no zipcar within walking distance to my place now. There is no grocery store, no place to get kitty litter. Yes, I can order online, but that gets old and complicated with waiting for deliveries around my work schedule/how my building is set up (delivery drivers don't use the intercom!). I cannot get to the farmer's market at the PATH station before it's packed up due to my work hours. There's a whole number of reasons I recently caved and got a car. Thankfully, my building has parking. My plan was to rent my space, but after a few months, I realized that I could really use a car.
If you think you don't need a car in ALL areas of JC, you must live in the bubble of the downtown, where yeah, you totally don't need a car.

But Perrine Ave is not like downtown, and until there are grocery stores, produce markets and/or other amenities in the neighborhood, some people will have cars there.

I used to live a block from Perrine. You can easily go without a car there. There's a market within a 2.5 block walk (C-Town), and another down the hill on Sip, before West Side. There are convenience stores all over the Square, and plenty of places deliver there. There is an Amazon Locker in the 7-11 two blocks away as well. There's a post office, DMV, multipe pharmacies, fast food places, bakeries, produce stands, dry cleaners, laundromat (even ones that do wash and fold), all within three blocks of that street.

You also have the PATH and bus terminal two blocks away.

While some of Jersey City may not have amenities, that does not characterize that block in the least.
