Yikes! They do realize how family oriented this area is? Sorry but I'm not bringing my kids to some place where the women are dressed like scottish tarts. I thought they were opening another melting pot in that location...I guess not.

Yep...you tiao and also sao bing. I know, it's Taiwanese and of course C-town is mostly Cantonese, but still! You can buy the stuff at the grocery stores over there! I like Flushing bc they do have more Taiwanese stuff (my family is from Taiwan). But it's too much of a pain in the ass to get there and my husband is not one to like hot curdled soy bean milk (why not I ask?) and stinky tofu so there's not much motivation for me to drag him all the way over to get some.

But back to the topic about c-town...Shanghai Cafe and Congee Village FTW! Wo Hop? Come on, wtf?

Well if it makes a difference, I'm Chinese and I prefer shanghai cafe and congee village over wo hop. Wo hop is good for what it is but I think the other two are way better

Anyway, both places are authentic Chinese IMO.

Yea thats why I decided to take them to hoboken. We hit up some stores on washington then came down bloomfield then back down garden before the kids and I got tired.
Lots of nice decorated houses on bloomfield.

Well I have a two year old who was pooped and crying that she wanted to go to bed so we had to cut it off. That's 4 lbs total for two kids! And combined with all of the candy we got at Halloween parties, we decided to cut it short. There's only so much candy that these kids can eat!

We got at least 2 lbs of candy each for both of our kids from Trick or Treating in Jersey City. We could have easily have gotten more but the kids were so pooped that we stopped. You just have to know where to go. We were in Paulus Hook. It was awesome. Lighthorse made a haunted house.

Gross. Did you call the police when you saw this? It's a playground, small children play there (including mine). That's just f*cking nasty.

And yes, move them somewhere else that's not in a PLAYGROUND. I don't understand what the outrage is about. These people should not be allowed on the playground equipment. No adult should be, unless they are with a child.

This past summer someone crapped on the jungle gym at VVP. My daughter also got poop on her pants a few years ago when someone left a turd at the bottom of the slide. I've also seen poop behind the benches inside the playground (where the signs are). I am pretty sure the poop on the jungle gym were not left by dogs, but by people (not sure about the benches). Were they homeless people doing it? Not sure, but where the hell else are they going to crap and piss at night?

Re: Jersey City Public Schools Need a New Immigrant Superintendent
Home away from home
Home away from home

You know, this post annoys me more and more. I am a child of immigrants and I can tell you that my parents were always grateful and humbled by the opportunity that they had in this country.

My father went to school here and received his masters in engineering. He was a very smart guy who did his job well. He used to say that if he was American born, he might have gone further in his career, but because his english wasn't that great, he didn't really get past middle management. Was he bitter about it? Not at all, because he knew that he gave us a much better life here than he would have in his home country.

The arrogance of some people. How about elect the person who is the best qualified candidate for the job? What a douche.

ITA. I never found this site to be hard to navigate. I don't think there's enough things going on in each neighborhood for a need to have JCList separated that way.

Re: Unleashed Mastiffs Attack JC Man

Home away from home

I have heard from residents of Windsor that the dogs were "problems" and showed aggressive behavior before the attacks. One story that I was told was a woman was sitting in the courtyard and the two dogs approached her, growling, one on either side or her and she was trapped and was too afraid to get up from the bench. The son called them away, but the woman on the bench was really shaken up.

This is all second hand information so who knows. I do know that prior to the attacks, a lot of the residents at Windsor were complaining about how unruly the dogs were.

I wouldn't complain about them serving beer, but honestly, they don't have an license so what they are doing is against the law. You may say that it's a stupid law, but it IS the law. If you want a beer that badly with your taco, couldn't you bring your own?

Wow, this is the new Taqueria thread. Next thing we'll see is the owner of Ibby's come on here and say that they think their JC customer's don't have any class and that they are going to close this branch soon because business is so much better in their new location. Also, people will be called douchebags and someone's baby will be insulted.

This comment still leaves a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended).
Way to insult an entire community that puts food in your mouth, and with every post your doing yourself more a disservice.

For the record I think think the food is above average (not oh my God great) and cheap, and I have never had an attitude problem there; guess I unknowingly followed the rules. But why patronize a place that has no respect for it's customers and only using the location for a stepping stone.

Seriously! Just F*cking apologize, Taqueria! You guys look like a bunch of douchebags and it pains me to see it!

I heard some douchebag riding his motorcycle in Paulus Hook last night at 2 am and then again at 6 am. I'm not sure if it was the same person but it was LOUD. What kind of asshole rides around in a loud mufflerless motorcycle at 2 am????? Then while driving on Grand street this morning at about 7:50, there was a guy in very loud green kawasaki. Maybe it was the same guy, maybe not, but the thought of running him over in my SUV did cross my mind.

Yes, because we get state financial aid (since our schools are failing) so our city does have preschool. However, most of NJ do not have the funding to have public preschool.

Your child will be sent to your local school unless the school does not have a preK class, then you'd be sent to another school in JC. You should look at the JCBOE website.

I'm sure many people use RSS readers to keep up with JCList, and every time you click through to read the context of a new comment, you have to either scroll through all the previous comments, or click to get to the last page in the thread. At the very least the order of posts within a thread should be a user-controlled preference (first-to-last or last-to-first).
That would not be an improvement imo. That would be annoying.
