Mr. Gural's holdings include 150 Bay Street, a 19th C industrial building recently partially converted to residential use in the Powerhouse Arts District. Jeff Gural, who also owns property in SoHo and DUMBO, two similar type neighborhoods, is shocked that Jersey City is contemplating amending the PAD Redevelopment Plan to accommodate a development proposal by Philadelphia-based "McMansion" developer Toll Bros. Toll Bros, through their subsidiary 134 Bay Street , LLC, purchased the Manischewitz Matzoh factory last year. Subsequently, Toll has taken possession of the adjacent "Caputo" lot to the East. Toll has been informally vetting a proposal for both lots with Jersey City politicians and officials. PADNA is against this proposal because of its negative impact on the neighborhood: ? Now we have a landmark building that is home to a thriving community of artists, professionals and families. We saw what happened with DUMBO, and we understand the value of a thriving arts district. Anyone attempting a proposal of this nature [what Toll is proposing] would be laughed at by City Planning in New York," said Mr. Gural Jeff Gural has stated his intentions to "do what it takes" to prevent another amendment to the plan. He supports to the PAD Redevelopment Plan and he supports PADNA's efforts to keep existing law 100%. Mr. Gural marked the beginning of his relationship with PADNA with a $10,000 contribution to the PADNA legal fund. The PAD is home to over 350 residents with more than $125 million invested in the neighborhood. PADNA has over 150 active members, supports the current Powerhouse Arts District Redevelopment Plan, and strives for a transparent city government that supports its residents .
Guys: I feel that this is another worthy fight for our community. Regardless of the actual location of your domicile in reference to Powerhouse Arts District we will need permanent locations for the Arts in the ?future Jersey City?. I do not live in the district but I do have access to it and would like to see it become a thriving Art Scene. Please join PADNA and donate to their legal fund. Thanks, DTG

Guys:

Obviously we have a problem here in Jersey City with the Professional Criminal Element (MUTANTS ) and guns. Hardly a day goes by without some type of mayhem and gunfire on our streets. Our Politicians ( HEALY ) and Prosecutor Edward J. DeFazio are quite vociferous on the need for more Gun Control but I am a simple man with simple questions.

Are the Mutants getting Paroled between shootings?

Are these Mutants experiencing the full weight of our current laws when caught?

Are the Mutants getting prosecuted on lesser charges?

What percentage of the Mutants are repeat offenders?

When a Mutant gets shot who pays for their medical care?

Thanks to the diligence of Grove Path we have a long list ?Mutant Activity? in our City and thanks to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-2 we have access to most records.

I think I see a Database in my future.

More info to follow soon !!!

[quote]
DeFazio has been upfront about the alarming increase in gunfire on county streets, particularly in Jersey City. He has been a staunch supporter of the gun control legislation that Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy has been pushing for, including a bill limiting gun purchases to one firearm per month, which was passed by the state Assembly last Tuesday. The bill will soon be reviewed by the state Senate and possibly become a law.

Strong Measure to Fight Illegal Gun Trafficking Passes New Jersey Assembly - measure will stop bulk sales of handguns by limiting purchases to one per month.

So long as there is a steady stream of hand guns flowing into the Northeast from the South this measure won't do a bit of good.

Guys:

There are very few stupid people on this Board.

Practically no illegal guns come from the State of New Jersey with the exception of the stolen gun from Dave?s Shop.

For those of you who are not familiar with the purchase of a Handgun in the State of New Jersey , I will do a copy and paste of an old post of mine describing the process to BDLAW. Remember this is the process in NJ ONLY.

I do realize that some of you feel that private citizens should not poses guns and I respect your opinion but tell me if after reading the post if you think that

"This measure will make it harder for criminals to traffic illegal guns and help put illegal traffickers out of business.? In the State of New Jersey

Bdlaw

Sorry about the delay. On occasion my boss expects work activities

As far as pain is concerned, Jersey City it is time consuming not painful. Hoboken or Bayonne are extremity painful, both of these towns will ask you for all sorts of additional paperwork like (FINACIAL STUFF) not required by State Law and they will give you all types of reasons why they can not do the process on that particular day. The problem is that people in those communities are afraid to take them to court. The mentality is ?I do not want to rock the boat? I just want my Firearms Purchaser Card.

Jersey City is strictly by the book. We have a full time retired JCPD Lieutenant that runs the Firearms Office. He is a no nonsense kind of guy, knowledgeable and very professional. When you go to Eire Street to pick up the packet the he will size you up and give you the speech about ?Straw Purchases? and the ?liability? issue if someone uses your gun in a crime or if you have an accidental shooting. Once he is done with his speech to discourage you, get your paperwork fill it out, get finger printed, pay the fee and you wait. The process will take about three months for your initial documents, so in parallel you put in your Pistol Purchase Permit in at the same time.

In the paperwork you will find a document giving up all your rights to privacy. The State Police will do a

Mental Health ,
Drug Abuse.
Alcohol Abuse,
Domestic Violence,
Arrest check

They will investigate you at the community level ,at the State level and then on a National level. In addition, since 9/11 they make sure that you are not Mohammed Atta?s former College roommate back in Germany aka ?Terrorist Watch List?.

When you get your Firearms Card and your Purchase Permit (TWO SEPARATE DOCUMENTS) you will have 90 days to purchase your pistol (ONE PISTOL PER PERMIT). Should you not use the permit in 90 days you can get it extended for an additional 90 days for a total 180.In the event that you have still not purchased a pistol in 180 days, you will start the process all over again

Now you are at the Gun Shop and you are ready to pay and pick up your firearm. There is one more check. Right before Dave or Caso?s give you the firearms we have the NICS check. NICS verifies that you haven?t been a NAUTY BOY since the issuance of your paperwork.

Please keep in mind that your new Pistol is now registered to you and can always be traced to you by the Police.
Do not sell it illegally , loose it or use for any criminal activity because all Law Enforcement Agencies in the USA have access to the Data on File.

That is it in New Jersey. It is a great system with multiple redundancies to catch the NAUTY BOYS.

It works well when politics or agendas do not interfere with the process.

Healy only wants to change the process for political capital since most people in NJ do not know the process and the built in safety guards.

Oh, by all means I STRONGLY encourages you to take a Firearms Safety Course. They cost is about $125.00 but if you have no firearms experience it/they will prove invaluable

Should you have any more questions please let me know.

Safe Shooting and gun rights for ever ?even in NJ?

Healy case to proceed Tuesday

Saturday, May 26, 2007

By KEN THORBOURNE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

A Monmouth County judge yesterday gave the go-ahead for the disorderly persons case against Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy to begin Tuesday - rebuffing attempts by Healy's attorneys to have the case postponed pending a decision on a related matter, a court official said.

Healy's attorneys had asked that the Healy case be postponed until the Monmouth County Court determined if disorderly person charges should be reinstated against the Bradley Beach officer Healy claims unnecessarily roughed him up and arrested him.

The charges against the officer were previously administratively dropped.

But yesterday, Monmouth County Assignment Judge Lawrence Lawson said even though he's reserving judgment on whether to reinstate complaints against Bradley Beach Police Officer Terry Browning, the case against Healy should proceed as scheduled, the court official said.

Neither Healy, nor his attorneys, returned phone calls to comment.

Also, Bradley Beach Municipal Court Judge Mark T. Apostolou, who has been overseeing the Healy case, has recused himself because one of the witnesses likely to testify is the daughter of a local councilman, the court official said.

John Colannino, the presiding judge of Monmouth County, will now handle the case, the official said.

No testimony is likely to be taken Tuesday, and it wasn't clear if Healy will have to be present, the official said. The case stems from an incident that took place last June 17 in Bradley Beach, where Healy has owned a home for years.

Healy claims he was trying to help police sort out a spat between a couple outside a tavern owned by his sister and brother-in-law when Browning pounced on him, threw him to the ground, handcuffed him, and pepper-sprayed him in both eyes. Healy said Browning also shoved his wife, Maureen, to the pavement.

Bradley Beach police maintain that Healy refused to keep out of a police matter even though he was politely asked to do several times and had to be forcibly arrested. Healy was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

In December, a Monmouth County grand jury "no-billed" an indictment against Browning for official misconduct and aggravated assault.

Arrested in February, now firefighter is indicted

Saturday, May 05, 2007
By MICHAELANGELO CONTE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

A Jersey City firefighter has been indicted on charges he struck a city policewoman with his car while in an apparent narcotic stupor only seven minutes after finishing his shift at the firehouse, officials said.
Firefighter Lawrence Lemke, 38, of Zabriskie Street, has been indicted on the charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and possession of heroin, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said yesterday.
On Feb. 16, Lemke was arrested behind the A. Harry Moore public housing complex on Duncan Avenue at 8:07 a.m. His shift at the firehouse on Palisade Avenue at Congress Street had ended at 8 a.m., officials said.
West District Police Officer Bridget Revell, a 12-year veteran of the department, found Lemke slumped over his steering wheel behind the housing complex, police said at the time.
When she went to check him, the car suddenly lurched backwards with the driver's door open, knocking Revell to the ground and causing her to suffer bumps and bruises, according to Police Capt. Hugh Donaghue.
Revell was treated and released from the Jersey City Medical Center and has since returned to work.
After the incident, police found a bag of suspected heroin, a syringe and a spoon for "cooking up" the drug in Lemke's car, officials said.
Lemke was also cited for driving while intoxicated and several motor vehicle violations, including for driving an uninsured vehicle and being an unlicensed driver.
The indictment was handed up last week and made public yesterday.
Lemke's attorney, Leonard Meyerson, said he had not seen the indictment yet. Fire Department Chief Fire Chief William Sinnott did not return calls seeking comment.

PSYCH REJECTS GET DO-OVERS

Chief's nephew, 5 others, pass due to one-time policy switch
Thursday, May 03, 2007
By KEN THORBOURNE
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

If you're a candidate to become a firefighter in Jersey City and fail the psychological test, don't jump off the ladder.

Administration officials came up with a novel solution for six of the current crop of recruits who failed an initial psych test: they got to do it again.

With the city footing the bill, all six passed a follow-up psych test with a different psychologist, officials said.

One of the first beneficiaries of this policy switch - which officials say may never happen again - is Sean T. Mangan, a person several officials identified as a nephew of Fire Chief William Sinnott.

"It's the typical Jersey City-isms, which is cronyism and nepotism," said Ward E Councilman Steve Fulop about the deviation from standard practice.

Mangan and one other candidate were retested and allowed into the current Fire Academy class that graduates later this month, officials said. The four other candidates have also been retested and passed the follow-up exam, but were too late to be part of this class, officials said.

Sinnott didn't return several phone calls for comment and Mangan failed to return messages left for him at the chief's office, the Fire Academy in Middletown, and at his residence in Jersey City.

Several administration officials, including Fire Director Armando Roman, Business Administrator Brian O'Reilly and city spokesman Stan H. Eason, defended the switch in policy on the grounds the city has been consistently losing appeals brought by police officer and firefighter candidates rejected for employment.

"The mayor (Jerramiah Healy) was fully informed," Eason said. "Having been advised and acting strictly on the recommendation of the business administrator and fire director, this policy was allowed to move forward.

"It was highly unusual for six candidates to fail that test in one day," Eason added. "Ultimately it would be more cost-effective to facilitate the second test than to have to represent and defend those appeals. Invariably they are almost always overturned."

According to O'Reilly, the city has stared down 24 fire department appeals brought before the state's Merit Board over the past three years. These 24 appeals, however, cover a wide spectrum, including the written and physical tests and criminal background checks fire recruits must undergo, O'Reilly said.

Of the 24 appeals, the Merit Board upheld 11 removals, sided with the appellants 12 times, and one case is pending, O'Reilly said.

The goal of the retest is to "reduce the actual appeals," O'Reilly said. "If someone went for two (psych) tests and fails, then we won't take them."

Jersey City Firefighters Union Local 1066 President Joseph Krajnik said it's not likely the city can get away with instituting a one-time-only policy.

"Precedent makes law," Krajnik said. "A lawyer would have a field day. They would say you did it for these (candidates) and you paid the bill, so you have to do it for my client."

Mayor Healy invites you to Play Jersey City?s Latest and Coolest Game !!!!

The idea of the ? Jerrramiah Healy Game ? is to guess on what day the next
civil servant will get into hot water. Hot water is define as a miss-deed that makes any local paper with a circulation greater than 200 printed copies on any given day.

Given the current pattern we can have a least three winners in April (See Criminal trend among Jersey City cops, firefighters? Post )

Rules:

1-The ? Jerrramiah Healy Game ? is played by guessing the day of the next Civil Servant Event , henceforth know as a C.S. E

Bonus Points

1-If the winner correctly predicts the department of the C.S.E. individual they will win bonus points.

2- If the winner correctly predicts if the C.S.E. individual holds multiple municipal jobs they will win bonus points

3-If the winner correctly predicts if the C.S.E. individual is related to anyone in City Hall they will win bonus points

Exclusion

Civil Servants are not permitted to play because they may purposely get themselves in hot water to win. We are in JC anything is possible

Awards

The winner will receive a 35% discount for a month on Refer purchased from Councilwoman Willie Flood?s son

Bonus Points

To be determined

JC Listers are encouraged to add new rules or modify old ones

Alb

Unfortunately, what we have here in JC and in most of Hudson County is an indigenous criminal class called Hudson County Politicians and I include both Political Parties Their total lack of ethics and criminal acts trickles down to their subordinates , hence you have ?events? like the ones listed on the news piece.

JC Listers ,regardless of political ideology ,views of the war in Iraq, position on the legalization of Pot or stance on Gun Control all want the same thing:

A safer, cleaner, better educated citizenry with an ethical Government that is response to the needs of all the citizens of Jersey City regardless of socio-economic status.

What we have is an ?Old Guard? aka Political Hacks that are only interested in obtaining multiple government jobs and awarding positions to family members and political contributors.

My view is simple, if ex-members of the Polpot Khmer Rouge Government run for office in Jersey City they have my vote and I will volunteer time to get them elected.

Sorry about the tirade ???..

He is White . So there
