I'm curious - what's "coming" ?

Ask Joe Biden. He's been predicting some bad sh!t if O was elected.

Ooohhh, scary! Gotta love the conservative fear factor, it worked so well yesterday.

At least we know who isn't "coming".

Last time I looked Biden was not a conservative. Try to quote correctly, it's not that hard.

Something is not right here

As for the poor and middle class paying for this alone. That's total BS.

1. The poor are not paying for this at all
2. Middle class will pay less than they pay now under both candidates' plans.

So who is going to pay for it? Certainly not the poor and middle class

He's planning on making it available to illegals too (not included in the 48%, or whatever the number is). "Rich" is currently anyone making more than $120,000 but the number is coming down virtually every day.

Why should I give you any money? You mean you don't want to go there enough if you have to pay your own way, then I'm sure they would love to have you (NOT).

I have spent over twenty years of my life living in different countries in Europe, Middle-East and Australia so I have some experience of the world outside the US. How about you?

I didn't say the US was the best place in the world. Based on personal experience, it's better than Denmark and probably better than Sweden. Thanks for calling me a moron (always a way to lose any argument).

Perhaps Denmark and Sweden are the countries that they are today, because of the US not in spite of the US. Without the existence of the US they would be very different countries.
There are very few, if any countries, that are not different because of the existence of the US. Certainly no European country, not Russia, not any advanced country.

If safer, cleaner and healthier are all that matter then maybe you should look at emigrating there (I can tell you that is not an easy option as despite having low populations they are not very open to immigration). Having worked in Denmark briefly, I can tell you I found it mind numbingly boring.
Haven't been to Sweden in 10 years. It was more interesting than Denmark but outside Stockholm the whole place seems to shut down at 3pm on Saturday.

Not sure who wrote that but, um, Monte Carlo and Monaco are pretty much the same place (Monte Carlo is in and comprises virtually all of Monaco, an area about the same size as Central Park). Try Andorra, Liechtenstein etc. etc. if you are looking for alternatives

For the JClisters out there, I think injcsince81 is just kidding around. I can't think of many publications that are more purely free-trade, free-market, and capitalist than The E and FT.

Lest I set off a stampede of subscription requests from Republican s, I must warn you all that they ARE socially liberal. (not to be confused with socialist). They're most definitely not Commies...crypto or otherwise.

For crypto-commie and not-so-crypto-commie, try "Militant" and "Socialist Worker"

The FT is printed on pink paper (or it used to be), so that would make it a pinko paper.

Ya big tease. You seemed so confident about it, i was hoping for some last minute insight. How shocking that there is none.

Next.

Well the short answer is that the recession will be deeper and longer if Obama's follows through with policies of increasing tax on small businesses and corporations. Unemployment will increase and more jobs will go abroad. I am sure we will all have friends and family directly affected even if we are able to escape it personally.

I'm not talking about what McCain said, I am talking about what I said. I notice you introduced the word "families" in to your reply. I didn't use that word. In fact I used the word "single" not "families", didn't I?

Factcheck.org confirmed that Obama did vote for proposals to increase taxes on single filers earning $42,000.

Perhaps they shouldn't make explicit promises then.

Certainly the numbers seemed to have changed radically in 48 hours. Either they don't know what they are talking about or this is a very cynical attempt to change policy when they think they have the election won on the basis of the (apparently) false promises they have made up to now.

Q. What's the next number in this series?

250,000 200,000 150,000 ...

A. 42,000

That's the income level that Biden and Obama voted to increase taxes for a single person. Both lied about this in the debates.

I thought Tony Blair was just like Bush and they couldn't wait for him to leave office?

There were a few scandals (not related to Bush) and some health issues that contributed to him leaving office before he had to. His actions related to Iraq did contribute to his fall in credibility and political standing, however. Not all of these were related to Bush, either. He also made a political mistake of announcing that he would not seek re-election years in advance of the actual election which hastened his departure because he didn't set a definite date causing much speculation/clamour which helped to bring that date forward.

On the other hand Blair was well known before he came into power (remember that Conservatives had been in power for over twelve years so only the more veteran members of his government had prior experience). During some of that time, Blair had been party leader and therefore was quite well known to the British public. There wasn't the sense of getting an unknown quantity that some people feel about Obama.

If he wants to serve two terms he'll need to modify his economic policies in response to the worsening situation they will cause. Considering who his economic advisers are, I am not too optimistic.

Exactly, which is why his spinelessness in taking orders from the Bush administration regarding Iraq was such a disappointment. Which cost him his political future and tarnished his legacy. Just as McCain's pandering to the base of the GOP and the Bush/Chenery neocons in advance of his latest presidential bid will cost him this election.

That's not what cost him his political future. There were several scandals that caused his downfall and he announced his retirement well in advance, he was not forced out as Gordon Brown seems like he soon will be (for issues not related to Iraq).
And how do you explain that the Conservatives are well ahead in the polls (their position was more pro-Bush than Blair's)?

I think you mean 95% of people (families with children, not) will
get an income tax cut of some sort with Obama. In most cases it's going to be less than $1000. That is very different from saying that families with children will get a 95.5% cut in tax.

How do you know you will be better off with Obama, just because you say you were better off 8 years ago? Obama might sink the economy worse than Bush especially since he wants to increase taxes. I also don't see anything tangible that BHO is proposing that is going to decrease the price of oil which affects virtually everything.

You might somehow exist in a vacuum whereby your own financial well-being is completely insulated from the price of oil and things like corporate tax and capital gains tax which will increase under Obama. Increasing corporate tax, already the highest in virtually the whole world, will lead to the loss of jobs and more jobs going overseas; not something you really want to do when unemployment is at its highest in 5 years. Capital gains tax increases will affect millions of Americans directly regardless of income level as well as causing a reduction in investment leading to fewer new jobs for those already jobless. Great.
