We all know you have this unhealthy obsession with Mayor Fulop, but they needed to fill the Deputy Mayor position, and this is someone who has experience in a large state government under a state governor and is a JC resident. And the salary is consistent with the past two Deputy Mayors. While your antics are usually funny a la the court jester or village idiot, I am becoming increasingly scared of what you will be like as dementia/age sets in.

This plan sounds great in many ways, but I have a few questions. I'm not 100% clear on how things are meant to work now (yeah - my bad), and how thing had previously been proposed to work in the future (before this plan came along).

I would appreciate elucidation from those with the pertinent facts.

Right now, if a call with medical emergency is placed to 911, is it planned that JCFD will arrive first, and ambulance from JCMC will arrive next & follow up?

According to this proposed plan, would we be relying on local volunteers (rather than JCFD) to to fill the first responder role until ambulances with professional EMTs can arrive on the scene?

What is the incentive to attract high-quality volunteers to fulfill this important duty?

Don't get me wrong, the distributed, community-mindedness of this plan sounds great. But the skeptic in me suspects $$ is at play - and while that could be a good thing for the budget there are other considerations that must be addressed.

The information provided is pretty clear cut, and there is also a graphic for those who learn better visually. This does not save or spend money. It does not impact the professional emergency responders' time. It simply creates another layer of trained volunteers to address emergencies even quicker, until the ambulance comes. If you read any of the supplementary articles on these programs, they have been met with great success.

im trying to find a good home for my dog. he is healthy, up-to-date on shots, well behaved, and loving.

he was adopted from liberty humane about 3 years ago at 6-months old. unfortunately i have since gotten divorced and don't think hes getting the attention/care he deserves. Due to my long work hours, consistent work travelling, and current living situation, i think i'm the last person in the world who should be taking care of a dog. I would never take him to a shelter but he is just not getting the attention he deserves, so i'm trying to find him a better home.

he is a good boy. any referrals or help would be appreciated.

a few images: http://i1057.photobucket.com/albums/t ... 1/imag3e_zps78ad2868.jpeg

some stats:

age: 3ish
breed: mix: mastiff/pit/?
loves: fetch, swimming in the hudson or at the beach, liberty state park, hikes, going on runs
he is good on walks, has no issues at the vet, and rarely barks
weight: around 65 pounds
knows: sit, roll-over, stay
other: He goes to club barks when I travel and he has never had an issue. However, he does not play nice with every single dog in the world so needs supervision around other dogs due to his size/strength. He does not like cats.

he is a good boy. As I said, he will NOT be going to a shelter but I think he deserves a better life so I thought Id give this a shot. any referrals or help would be really appreciated.

I'd try NOLA Furry Friends Safe Haven Shelter. But ultimately as long as he doesn't go to a kill shelter that is good!

I don't think ANYONE would be surprised to read this. Unfortunately, the Buildings Department has been one of the top reasons why JC is having a hard time moving forward on all fronts. Even sadder is that Fulop ran on a platform that promised reforms to that department. Almost two years later, and still the same nonsense. Until we get fair, equal treatment when it comes to business permits and inspections, we will continue to see budding entrepreneurs getting the run around and fleeced.

Enough with the shenanigans. Rid the department of the corrupt inspectors and implement a fair process with clear guidelines to request and satisfy the inspection process.

Unfortunately, the reality on the ground is not so simple. The executive branch has limited power in day to day operations of this office, and unfortunately cannot fire almost all of the city employees who have union-negotiated protections against being dismissed.

So you are making the accusation that the City Council members plan to use this money in an illicit/fraudulent manner? Correct my if I am mistaken, but does a "slush fund" in the governmental/political context not imply an illegal use of funds?

Now I know you are sorely hurt after a number of failed campaigns for office, but what is your basis of making the claim that the Council members are going to use this money for illegal matters? Do you have any evidence to back up this claim?

Firstly, had you ever won an election you would know how budgeting works at the governmental level (or really- in any business case or proposal). In positive projections you always promote the best case scenario.

Secondly, and I fault your reading comprehension for this, the article states, "...and more as new workers come on to replace retiring workers." What this means is that there will be an initial savings of $750,000, and further savings will come thereafter in a somewhat staggered timing as workers are replaced.

I understand you have taken the role of bitter contrarian to everything this city does, but would you rather they did nothing and just let this agency operate autonomously? You/Yvonne et als. are really sad in your clear hate/jealousy of our Mayor. Quite sad.

Because if you want to fly in a plane, open a bank account, get a prescription, buy alcohol or cigarettes, or rent a DVD you'll often need to show proper ID. College ID's, for example, should never be used.

No one who is a proper citizen should be disenfranchised because someone not eligible to vote cancels your vote.

A concept that seems too complex for many here is that this is a TRIAL RUN. The city will not invest in permanent changes at this time, but rather will analyze relevant data and feedback once the outdoor seating is removed for the winter. Then, should a permanent measure be approved, the city will invest in making this a more robust pedestrian plaza.
