Not sure what's going in there, but it's a nice sized space! 3,000+ square feet. Hopefully it's something good, and not Rainbow expanding next door.

No he won't. Little known fact, but child molesters are kept out of general population in prisons, despite what you see on television. They house them with the mental patients.

Hi Folks,
I need to renew my Driver's License with a new address and am wondering if anyone had advice on visiting the DMV by JSQ/Five Corners? Are any days or times less busy than others? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

I had to do the same thing. My advice to you is get there early and give yourself plenty of time. I was actually the last person called, and I had been waiting for over two hours. The people who still had numbers behind me were turned away, and they had been waiting about the same amount of time. People were pissed! Go there EARLY!

Well it depends on the restaurant, the lease, the people running the place as to whether cheap eats have a better longevity. I can think of multiple cheap places that have gone under while I have been here to go along with several higher end restaurants.

I have no doubt that places near Exchange place struggle, that place is a wasteland nights and weekends. But no one opening a place there should expect anything different.

JC may not be the same as some places in Manhattan, but I don't think anyone ever made that argument. Just because we're not Manhattan doesn't mean we can't support good restaurants.

When it comes right down to it I don't think our positions are very far apart. Running a restaurant is hard. Running a good restaurant is even harder. None of that makes JC any different from any other place.

I love to see restaurants succeed in my neighborhood but I still believe the key to longevity is how the locals patronage the place - If I owned or managed a place I would do everything to get involved with the community; sponsor the local peewee league, provide t-shirts for teams with my business name on them - even contact the local schools if they need some team apparel, have a weekly free coffee morning for moms with strollers, offer free coffee to emergency services personnel etc etc. It is tough, but the DTJC locals are a tough crowd to market to.

And this is why you're not in business. All those handouts and freebies you would be handing out are expenses and overhead. You're in business, not in a charity.

Soon we're going to have yet another pizza joint, which is set to replace Sava. This will make six pizza places in a two block radius. This is getting boring.

The problem is with the matchup between the business and Jersey City.
Take note, anyone who thinks we are the Sixth Borough.

They had already closed their West Village location before closing their Jersey City location. They are only online now.

JP Morgan and RBC to name 2 recent examples moving to JC. Ask Steve Fulop. Also see this for the general decentralization pattern.

Stop attributing your dumbass statements to me.

Three places listed as coming to NJ while you have NJ listed as the place where people are fleeing from... People don't leave when they have jobs.

Yes - people usually quit their jobs or retire before leaving the state. I'd bet most of the NJ exodus in YOUR link isn't going to NY state for jobs - more likely it's retirees fleeing to states with zero income tax.

Anyone know what's going into the space next to The Keyhole Bar on Erie or the space on Erie between 3rd and 4th? Work has recently resumed on the latter and the For Rent sign is gone.

The permit on the storefront next to Bob's Shoe Repair says Dental Office.

I remember reading on the construction permit that the space on Erie between 3rd and 4th was being outfitted with an industrial kitchen. I believe it's going to be some sort of restaurant.
