Let this be a lesson to all you young ladies out there. The second your nipple gets exposed in public, be prepared for a rapin

Yvonne is right. I hate to admit this.

As long as girls keep their breasts covered, I'm fine. But once they are exposed you might as well change the name from Jersey City to Rape City. How are people going to control themselves?!

Not sure about a shuttle between the two airports, if that is an option I would 100% do that. If you need to transfer, your airline should provide some sort of service.

If not, here is what I would do:

AirTrain->E->WTC Path to Newark->Uber ($10 ride) $20.50
OR
AirTrain->LIRR->Penn->AirTrain $26

Airtrain $5
LIRR $8
NJT $13 (includes EWR AirTrain)

I hate transfers and try to avoid the AirTrain at EWR at all cost so I would recommend #1.

I live around the corner and walk my dog through that part every day. It has gotten much better. The drugs and stuff was an issue about 7-10 years ago. There are still some groups of locals who hang around that street but they don?t bother anyone and it?s completely safe. Lately it has been about the noise kids make when they play basketball late night which has for the most part stopped.

It?s not park slope Brooklyn but I have been there for 6 years and have never felt unsafe walking through that street late at night.

Hamilton Pork
#13
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Tried Hamilton Pork for the first time this weekend.

The layout of the place is wonderful, big tables, outside space, big bar. The ambiance was great with friendly staff. The only problem was, everything else.

I hate writing negative reviews but hopefully this will motivate them to be better or maybe someone can confirm that my experience was a fluke.

We got a little sampling of everything. I can?t understand how you can charge $14 for 3 thin slices of brisket which felt and tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time. I would never order that again. I?m sure they pickle their own onions and cucumbers, but they need more time. It felt like eating a raw piece of onion. The ribs weren?t bad and the sides we had were ok. I want to have good things to say about this place and I?m not a bbq snob, but nothing at this place food wise was decent.

I probably will not be back but wish them the best. Next time I have a craving I will go to legal beans or even get the mediocre bbq at south house.

Re: Miso Ramen

Just can't stay away

Back to the conversation of Miso?I?m not a ramen expert, but I feel like I have a good understanding what good ramen is bc I have tried most of the popular places in the city (Ippudo, Momofuku, Ivan, Totto, Ramen Lab, Nakamura etc) including some of the newer spots that aren?t worth mentioning.

Miso is more on the traditional side and I do agree with one of the earlier posts that the noodles come a little to al-dente. I?ve been more than once and I find that is something they do consistently and would be my only complaint. It would also be nice to have more topping options but overall, they would do fine against your standard ramen spot in NYC. Their broth is very rich, they are generous with their meat and their pork is extremely tender and flavorful. It?s hard for me to see how someone can say their experience was horrible unless they just ordered something they didn?t like or the order was messed up. I for one am very happy to have that option in JC.

Side note: I don?t know any of the owners and not affiliated with Miso in any way.

I went at around 6pm by myself. The service seemed very prompt so maybe that was something that was ironed out since that was one of the reoccurring concerns here when they first opened.

I had low expectations of this place bc the outside looked kind of chain-y. The pork ramen was delicious. The pork was cooked to perfection, super tender and they give you a generous portion. The soup was great, very flavorful, not too salty. This place would be a success in the city. I was thoroughly impressed. The only negative review I had was that the noodles were a little too al-dente, just barely. Other than that I had a great experience and will be back to try the other items on the menu.

agree. She?s not saying she?s a self-acclaimed food critic. She clearly is passionate about her city and is doing what she can to promote these small businesses that are opening up to make this place a fun and unique place to live.

The only reason we are talking about her is bc she is getting a lot of traffic on her site so she is doing something right.

In order for an establishment to pay rent, their employees, ingredients etc. they have to mark up the food they prepare. Often times its more than double.

Can you even buy a bic mac for 1.99?

Kencares should change his name to Kensretarded

?The Maillard Reaction?also known as the browning reaction*?is a series of chemical reactions that take place when protein-rich foods are heated. Large proteins break into smaller compounds which react with others, recombining into new configurations. They break apart again, recombine, and on and on in a cascade of chemical reactions that creates hundreds of brand new compounds.?

http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2 ... -vs-smashing-burgers.html

A lot of really popular burger chains use this method of smashing (Smashburger, Shakeshack, Five Guys) to bring more flavor into the burger patty. I would go back and give the burger a try!

Disagree with your post JC man.

I am happy that they picked a place in Jersey City, but if/when people show up to try it because they made this list, they will be completely disappointed and it will look bad on us in the end. It?s not a question that this place that markets themselves as a burger bar has subpar burgers. The fact that it was even considered one of the best in the state is appalling. Hopefully, they read their reviews so they turn things around and become better. The fact that they are getting these type of accolades means they may not change and continue to serve shitty food to you idiots who don?t have a good palate.

This forum is unapologetic truth. People can say what they want. If you really expect everyone to come out and say, Hey That?s great a local business is getting coverage, good for them! You?re kidding yourself. Best burger in NJ? This is laughable.
